Deck Introduction
Hello! I'm James1, a 12 times legend player. I'm very excited for Miracle Malygos Druid with the release of Raven Idol. Gadgetzan Auctioneer will always be my favourite card and Combo/Miracle will always be my favourite archetype. This deck is very good in current standard format. I Achieve rank 1 none-legend on the 29th April. I'll take it to legend next season.
Raven Idol will be a amazing cycle with Gadgetzan Auctioneer. Moreover , Raven Idol will also discover key damage cards for Malygos combo. Malygos Druid has always suffered with limited damage as you often blow 1 or 2 damage spell as removal. Raven Idol can potentially fix this problem and cycle too! synergy is over 9000.
The Combo
Malygos + 2 Moonfire + 2 Living Roots = 26 damage. Because we can't guarantee that these cards can be saved, the deck aims to draw damage using Raven Idol! ( With Gadgetzan Auctioneer on board to cycle and generate card advantage). You shouldn't think the deck relies solely on Malygos combo, between Violet Teacher, Druid of the Claw and Ancient of Lore the deck runs a very solid mid game, which will inevitably chip at the opponents health.
Raven Idol discover picks
Raven Idol will be release with the Hall of Explorers wing on the 10th/11th of December! Upon casting Raven Idol there is 11.1% for getting a spell specific card. Fun fact it will also be possible to re-discover Raven Idol, this may be relevant if you're searching for combo pieces or cycling with Gadgetzan Auctioneer in later turns.
Living Roots and Moonfire are priority picks for Malygos combo, thus are tier 1 picks. The mathematics of getting either of these burn spells can be seen in the spoiler below.
Mathematics of getting either Moonfire or Living Roots from Raven Idol:
- After casting raven idol once, there is a 24% chance of get either Moonfire or Living Roots.
- After casting raven idol twice, there is a 42.2% chance of get either Moonfire or Living Roots once.
- After casting raven idol twice, there is 5.76% of get either Moonfire or Living Roots twice. For example 2 Moonfire or 2 Living Roots or 1 of each.
Its important to note that these percentages include Raven Idol re-rolls for burn. For example you can cast raven idol, discover a raven idol and recast it if no burn was available the first time.
Innervate, Claw and Wrath are all amazing cards for Gadgetzan Auctioneer cycle. Tier 2 picks.
Swipe, Starfall and Force of Nature are amazing AOE. Tier 1/ 2 depending on situation board state.
Starfire and Nourish are tier 3 and are fairly useful in slower match ups.
Power of the Wild can be a tier 1/2 if Violet Teacher combo is possible. Another niche card would be Healing Touch, the 8 heal against face hunter is huge.
The rest belong in the bin bag with the blizzard development team, kappa. To summarise : there's 11 spell cards we want from Raven Idol, and because we get the choice of three the likely hood of getting a tier 1 or 2 card is very high (a 80.85% chance).
Card alternatives
Power of the Wild is another card that could be included. It has great synergy with Violet Teacher, however playing a 2 mana 3/2 is awful in today's meta.
Wild Pyromancer another great card for stopping aggro deck. Considering the abundance of spells its definitely could find a home in this deck.
Play guide and Mulligan (I'll update as I go along)
The most Important rule : You MUST scream "I'm the essence of magic" at the top of your lungs, as you slam Malygos and proceed to stick 3 damage spell card up the arse of your opponent. If you don't your play the deck wrong.
Typically you might want to save The Coin for either Violet Teacher or Gadgetzan Auctioneer combo. However, you may need to coin for tempo against fast decks.
In general you want Wild Growth, Innervate , Keeper of the Grove and Violet Teacher. An example of a great all round hand (Note this hand is pre Raven Idol release, Power of the Wild could easily be Raven Idol) :
V.s control keep Emperor Thaurissan with coin. Vs warlock consider keeping Big Game Hunter and Keeper of the Grove for Mountain Giant and Twilight Drake respectively.
V.s Aggro keep wrath, swipe and living roots. The hand below would be amazing against face hunter, paladin or Zoo.
If Wild Growth is played on turn 10 with Gadgetzan Auctioneer you will gain an Excess Mana card and draw 1 card . Upon playing excess mana, you will drawn 2 additional cards. Totalling 3 draws for 2 mana.
Thanks for reading!
Here's a fun youtube play through of the deck with p4wnyhof.
Thalnos has felt clunky to me. I've played a couple of games with him in, and I almost never am glad to draw him. Early game, he's a liability. Later on, I wish he were a spell. I use Mulch in place of my Thalnos, and I am never sad to see it, especially with all the big creatures running around this meta.
Discovering Mulch and Naturalize is a crapshoot...
Um, 2 damage Moonfire is not terribly relevant right now, and Thalno's underpowered body makes him a pretty lousy turn 2 play anyway.
Did either of you actually read my comment about the Dragon changes? I did point out that this would play less like a purebreed Miracle deck and more like the usual "big creatures" strategy. And yes, Feral Rage is surprisingly good. 16 Armor vs Miracle Rogue is great.
Guys, I'm sorry, but it seems like I'll have to repeat myself here.
I insist that Elise Starseeker is an absolute must here. With the crazy amount of draw we have, and the possibility of Malygos being easily taken care of, or if you run out of removals (*cough* face huntards *cough*), you can have a Golden Monkey as a 'sidearm' of sorts. I've won an incredible amount of games with it. Really a great deck, but lacks universality.
I'm cutting 1x Gadgetzan & 1x Bloodmage for 1x Loatheb 1x Savage Roar and they work wonder for me.
Thalnos' only great with Swipe and I don't think it's worth a slot.
The deck already has so much draw power that the 2nd Gadgetzan's often a dead card. Loatheb, on another hand, a a solid midrange minion and fit with Tempo + Board control style, which the deck could pull of if needed.
Savage Roar rounds up the synergy, allowing you to win games without Malygos.
Such a cool deck. I'm using a dragon-based version though.
- 2x Violet Teacher + 2x Twilight Drake
- 2x Druid of the Claw + 2x Blackwing Corruptor
- 1x Gadgetzan Auctioneer + Chromaggus
I find this to be more consistent, with some bigger bodies that help to fight for board control.
I love Malygos rouge, but I found this deck to be terrible. You lose the board early and it stays that way until death. Druid needs help in the board clear department big time.
I love this deck so much! I've personally replaced one Violet Teacher and Bloodmage Thalnos with two Darnassus Aspirant as I feel like the ramp is super usefull as well as having better early game. Any thoughts on that or other tech?
It's a very, very fun deck!
I've replaced Bloodmage Thalnos with Elise Starseeker. Works like a charm.
Or Doomsayer.
Ancient of Lore is a unique card like no other and I heavily suggest you craft it if you want to use this deck, but since we're mostly using it for card draw you could replace it with Nourish(don't use dust for Nourish save it for Ancient of Lore), or if you don't have that card either you could use Starfire which can actually be used in combination with Auctioneer and Malygos, though it draws one less card than Ancient of Lore.
Elise Starseeker is amazing in this deck, essentially a second win condition on her own (in case you don't manage to lower your opponent's health enough to finish them with Malygos).
With all the draws, getting to the Golden Monkey isn't even that difficult, just had 2 back to back games where that happened (1 win against control priest, 1 loss against control warrior)
Bloodmage Thalnos by default, it's the only card I'm missing. Otherwise I might replace one of the Violet Teacher instead (same body, different function).
its not about the 1/1 its about the draw and spell damage
Did you even read the comment? The only reason I'm replacing Thalnos is because I don't have it
Been playing this deck to pwn nuubs on rank20 to farm gold and wins, fun and amazing
Incredibly funny deck! I saw this on YT and threw the like of it together. I actually put in the Jungle Moonkin which is very strong against paladin and priest and feeding the mirror entity as finisher against tempo Mage. One should play the Malygos freely in many match-ups, IMHO. I'm currently floating at rank 8 but I recently subbed in the pyromancer so I hope I'll get a grip on the agro and move on :).
Good afternoon!
I just want to say that this is such an amazingly fun deck to play! I'd give it two thumbs up if I could. It is far more dynamic than traditional druid decks, and Raven Idol is definitely a star player. It actually allows you to react to your opponent's play and pick cards to counter them given your situation at the time. There are lots of decisions to make each turn, especially in considering whether or not to save spells like Innervate and Raven Idol for Gadgetzan Auctioneer, or to use them to generate board presence earlier. With this deck you I've been able to ACTUALLY use cards like Recycle and Dark Wispers to react to my opponent's plays. In the hands of a skilled Druid player this deck is completely viable and competitive in my opinion, and after playing it from Rank 21 I have climbed all the way to Rank 6 in just 4 days. Druid is easily my most played class and I've reached legend before, so I had the experience at my back during this. In any case, this is exactly the deck I was looking to create from LoE and I'm happy it's posted here as well. Excellent job!
All the best, and may all your packs have legendaries.
IamFlight
PS: It is 100% possible to reach legend using this deck. It's harder to play effectively than most traditional Druid decks, but very adaptable, powerful, and exceptionally fun once you get it.
So, this deck can struggle against Control Warrior and Reno Decks. Have you thought about replacing a 1x Violet Teacher(or even 1x Gadgetzan) with perhaps Elise Starseeker? It wouldn't really hurt any match ups and could dramatically improve the CW/Reno match ups. Alongside the Gadgetzan draw engine you could easily cycle to the golden monkey and begin smashing legendaries into the CW/Reno decks' faces.
Great deck btw, some of the most fun I've had in Hearthstone.
