...you had to be there, history has been made.
REPLACEMENT
Ysera -> Nefarian Nefarian is faster ( higher attack and 2 cards) but risky (BGH - SW:D)
Vol'jin -Boom or Sylvanas (if you play boom than you better use Nefarian too). Harrison is ok, Loatheb would be a bad filler and Thaurissan has no place here.
Twilight Guardian - Mandatory 2x. Taunt+dragon has no replacement
Cabal Shadow Priest - You need at least one cabal to steal opponent's minibot, hounds, acolyte. Replace the second at will. MCT and Sylvanas are quite obvious. One more dragon can help, lightbomb is bad.
Dragon Priest is very successful on NA.
You are kidding right? with 4x solid taunts(wyrmrest, twilight), 2x holy nova(that only gets boosted by azure drake and velen's) and 2x cabal you are basically a living counter to face hunters.
I have more or less same deck it's good against aggro decks but fails against Patron Warrior no matter what you do (2xLightbomb, Chillmaw) and against Ramp Druid. If you are facing too many Hunters and Mages than this is handy deck.
Did the same! I'm not sure it's better but it is really fun to play!
I'm new to HS but this deck seems to suit me. Doing good so far but I have much worse win % when I don't have the coin. The mulligans without coin is hard? Often try to save a dragon to get synergy and low cost minions but I often get behind. And if I do make it, it's often around turn 5 or 6 with Cabal or BC. Any tips?
Thanks. I've beginning to see that is just the way to play. Skip dragon synergy when no coin. I think my stats are going up a bit. The dragonkin is a hard choice to mulligan in those scenarios.
Thank you for this sweet deck. I went 7 wins in a row so far, from rank 16 to 13. Lost to a warrior. Whenever a friendly minion takes damage gain 1 attack ftw. Lol. I'm running Sylvanas Windrunner in place of Vol'jin as I don't have that card. It's really fun so far. Is there a place for Chillmaw in the deck? I have that card. Been wanting to use it in a deck. Thanks again!
I use Chillmaw instead of Vol'jin and it helps survive the first combo spam of Grim Patron Warriors because they don't pack Commanding Shout anymore. The extra Dragon card really comes in handy. Also great against Warriors is Mass Dispel. I switched my Dragonkin Sorcerer for it and it also feels really good to use.
This deck is horrible on NA.
It's not fast enough to deal with aggro.
Downvote me if you want. But the only AOE clear is Holy Nova, and by turn five you're probably dead.
Source: Played 20 games with this deck, won 6 of them.
You cant get a taunt out or a cultist+shield to help control board??
Not sure what you are doing wrong, but this is an anti aggro Deck. Aggro should be a fairly easy win. You have lots of taunts, heals, card draw and beefy early minions. Face hunters will use all their resources to kill your taunts and that severely limits their burst damage later on. Zoolock can be tough and depends on who gets board presence early on.
This deck only runs 4 taunts. Only 1 Wyrmrest Agent is just too easy for hunter, with attack points buffing. Then if you're not lucky enough to draw Twilight Guardian, or hunter are lucky enough to draw owl, it's pretty much GG. Unlike classic control priest, Wild Pyromancer or Deathlord will single handedly clear all the low health minions, plus large amount of healing power from Light of the Naaru, these 4 taunts are the only hope to prevent early damage.
From my personal experience with this deck, it's solid against tempo decks, but it could be an esay win for aggro/control decks. Let's just say, how do you deal with a heavily buffed Deathlord in the early game, at the point of time that this deck desperately needs to create board advantage?
Edit: I might be a bit biased here, since I'm a strong control priest lover, who did not maintain a even 50% win rate running this dragon deck against almost all popluar decks right now, but this is all my feeling about it.
This Dragon Priest is more tempo, then anything. Deathlord will stop you from doing face damage but won't kill your minions, and you can still develop a board, even use his 2 dmg to pull cards with a cleric. You do have shadow word pain as well. If its late game you can cabal it. In this deck you deal with a lot of threats with minions and the health advantage dragon minions have plus your healing. Of course you can't win every game RNG does come into play for every game.
All the "you can.." "you can.." in the end, can easily turn into "you can't.." "you can't..". Just say, you run 1 SW:P, but didn't manage to draw it before turn 6, which I think is highly possible. Yeah here RNG is crucial, so as it's crucial to any other deck, but I feel for tempo decks, if you start to lose board control in early game, it will be very tough to come back.
Decent deck, but you need more board clears on NA (did he play this on the NA servers?) Also blackwing tech is a great card I don't know why you would leave it out. Coining out a 3/5 on turn 2 is really good.
I have had a lot more luck with these replacements.
-2 Cabal Shadow Priest
-2 Shrink Meister
-1 Shadow Word Pain
-1 Dragonkin Sorc
+2 Lightbomb
+2 blackwing tech
+1 chillmaw
+1 Holy Smite
Lightbomb completely and utterly destroys secret paladin. You almost always have one minion out on turn 6 so you just proc the secret chain then lightbomb. GG. All of your minions except Chillmaw have more hp then attack so your guy will probably survive.
ALSO, some of the people he plays against are REALLY REALLY bad and probably are suffering from shock playing against 'Kolento'.
For example, in video 33 the paladin trades his entire board into Kolento's 6/10 sorcerer instead of doing 10 dmg to Kolento's face. If he went face instead of trading into the 6/10 he would of won. on the next turn. Even Kolento laughed under his breath at that horrible horrible play. Or what about the other secret paladin trading into crappy non-taunt minions instead of going face with his 10 attack mysterious challenger.
I swear, it was like some of these players thought they were playing a PvE MMO game and had to farm minions for gold or some shit.
Look, Kolento is great but I gotta say, you need more board clear in this meta. It's probably why a lot of you seem to be having trouble against classes it should be dominating. Also, 2 Lightbombs makes it so you can beat Handlock.
Deck is pretty good. I crafted alot of the cards needed for it but I don't think i'm playing it right. (or I have seriously bad luck) The only thing missing is Vol'jin who I don't have atm. I replaced him with Chromagus and it seems to work pretty well but I could just be fooling myself.
Use Nefarian instead of Chromaggus. The former is an instant-reward card (although it fails against Big Game Hunter). Chromaggus is a 'win more' card which doesn't always help you catch up.
Yeah Ithought of him for the longer term reward and the fact that he dodges BGH but what you said does make sense. I'll give Nefarian a shot and see how it goes. Thanks for the feedback :)
This deck is pure rapage. I'm 11-2 and fairly new to Priest. I'll note that 9 of these wins are non-ranked for practice purposes. I think I'll aim to get to legend with this deck. THanks for sharing.
PS. swapped Sylvanis for Vol'jin due to availability.
Not a lot of good players actually play non-ranked. Playing non-ranked is a very bad way to go off and say that this deck is good
