A quick video of Dragon Priest in full stride
It's OP use it. twitch.tv/reynad27
Just for clarification Chillmaw is for Patron Warrior, Voljin is mainly used for high health late game drops such as Ysera and then smiting the minion. Rend is used for the manyyyy legendaries that have sprouted because of TGT
-*LOOK HERE IMPORTANT STUFF* EDIT----- Reynad has added in 2 shrinkmiesters, 2 cabal shadow priests, a second shadow word death, 2 shadow madness and has taken out 2 smite, 2 velen's chosen, ysera, rend and vol'jin. He wanted the deck to have a better curve and early game so the deck doesn't lose all control because of enemy early drops
*LOOK MORE IMPORTANT STUFF* EDIT--- I know the changes made the deck worse but reynad was just trying stuff out. You can revert to the old deck because it had a higher win percentage just wanted to put his edits in the deck so its up to date ~ Loki (PS i personally think the original deck is better)
Twilight Whelp was so so, but together with Wyrmrest Agent (2 drop Priest), Blackwing tech (3 drop) and Twilight Guardian (4 drop) priest has the only dragon deck that can curve out nicely on turns 1, 2, 3 and 4. Plus, so mentioned dragon cards have more health than attack and so can be healed up after attacking, suiting priest better.
In contrast, paladin dragon deck for example relies on getting the heavy dragons out earlier with Dragon Consort. It's an okay deck, but it can find it hard to control the early game if it doesnt get a minibot or blackwing tech out early.
Personally I like having more dragons in a dragon deck, 7-8, and I think this is a little light. Reynard is using Shrink + Cabal (4 cards) which cant be used together before turn 8 anyways, so I would take more dragons instead: Chrommagus, Ysera (so 9 dragons now, or 7 if you dont include the whelps), plus Voljin (hes too good) and last card either a silence card (Silence, Mass Dispel, Spellbreaker) or a Velens Chosen or a Mind Control or a Lightbomb (I've suggested 4 choices for last card, depending on the meta you can take the best one).
Of course. That really is a phenomenal opening. A 2/3, a 2/4 with taunt, a 3/5, then 3/6 with taunt. Combine that with circle of healing your opponent would be hard pressed to remove them all. Thanks for the explanation.
this deck is so slow it actually allows druids to gather 2 roars and nearly 1 shot me...
idk why you got downvoted. f'n happened to me last night. completely control of the game. guy drops loatheb turn 8 then double roar combo. gg.
You have 4 taunts - drop one at the right moment.
3-0 so far. The last opponent got so mad that he ragequit when I dropped a Northshire Cleric turn 1. It was incredible. Definitely liking this deck so far! I was skeptical my first game when I got NO dragons, but after 3 games of basically stomping on my opponents' strategies, I feel like my investment of 800 dust for 2 Twilight Guardians was worth it.
However, I've made two revisions to the deck: Chillmaw I don't have but wanted to keep with a strong legendary, so I threw in Dr. Balanced [Dr. Boom] (might change to something else like Chromaggus, Ysera, or Nefarian later), and Dragonkin Sorcerer I felt like was pretty useless since we only have TWO buffs (Power Word: Shield), so I swapped it with Hungry Dragon. I feel like Twilight Drake would also be viable, but you can Cabal Shadow Priest or Shadow Madness the 1 drop if it's late-game, and if not, you usually have board control to deal with a measly 1-drop (you can also Holy Nova it with the rest of your opponent's board if not).
But yeah, good deck! Just gotta replace that Dragonkin Sorcerer because, again, it's pretty crap.
PS: Using the revision after August 27th. It's literally the exact same decklist post-revisions except for Chillmaw and Dragonkin Sorcerer.
Believe it or not, I had the same thing happening to me. I dropped a northshire cleric and shielded it and he ragequit... strange. 4-0 so far for me ^^
Is it, Tomis? If I can pull a Frostbolt, Kill Command + Coin, or alike spell out for a Northshire Cleric, I consider that trading up, tbh. The only bad counters are Fiery War Axe or Rockbiter Weapon.
The deck has decent enough draw (4 draws + 2 Northshire), and it doesn't even really need it. Pulling early removal away from things like your Technicians and Agents is really helpful.
My thoughts exactly. I often use cleric to pull the opponent's removal away from other, more important minions. Sometimes they just ignore it, and that's why I add Velen's to it for a couple quick hits before they take it seriously.
Is there a counter for this deck?
handlock
I realized zoolock is doing ok too. Since he can dominate early game with implosions and buffs, trading low cost minions on the Priest Taunts.
If encountering handlock then drop 2 shadow madness and take a Lightbomb and a Sneeds. Drop shrinky + cabals for more dragons (Chrom, Ysera), Voljin and a Mass Dispel.
yes
Is there any replacement for Chillmaw?
Any big dragon should work. Ysera would probably be my first choice, or Nefarian if you don't have her.
Or Chromaggus.
I'm using Dr Boom myself, but I haven't gotten to use him because most opponents are just done by Turn 7/8 :D
Since Hungry Dragon is also a 4 drop (and WAY more powerful than Sorcerer), I've picked that and it hasn't let me down. You could do Twilight Drake if you want instead, but I've found that I usually have board control to handle the 1 drop that I summon for my opponent (and if I don't, I can Shadow Madness or Cabal it if it's turn 9+).
NO clue why the current revision is running Dragonkin Sorcerer when there's literally two buffs (PW:S) in this entire deck. It really should be replaced with something.
Chillmaw is your patron stopper. Try to lure out all the executes and shield slam first with Chromaggus and Ysera.
Once patrons are down, Azure + Holy Nova clears them up. You can beat most warriors, just play a slow long game.
A silence card can also be golden when used on a turn 3 acolyte of pain. Stop the warrior card draw early gives you time to draw into Chillmaw.
