Hey there everyone!

I am a 16x Legend Player with 2x Top 100 finishes who goes by the battletag WingsOfWax or WingsOfWaxIII on other social media (FacebookTwitter, Tumblr, Twitch, and YouTube).

Don't forget to +1 if you enjoyed the guide/decklist. A lot of time and effort went into these and it's a free and easy way to say thank you.

Introduction to my YouTube Channel:

Play-Style:

The deck plays the same basic way as a Face Hunter, keep trying to hit FACE. The only time I find my self deviating from this plan is when eating an opposing minion has a decent chance at eventually letting me cause more damage.

Vs Warriors -

Control Warrior: Try to avoid giving your opponent too much value from Amorsmith and Acolyte of Pain if preventable. I've killed a lot of Control Warriors with this deck, mostly because they are not expecting a Face Warrior and have to use their Weapons to kill Wolfriders and the such that forces them to take extra damage just to get a minion off the table. Hold your Owls for Sludge Belchers since those are problematic vs any Face strategy.

Patron Warrior: I find this matchup hard, but winnable. Usually it depends on if they have Whirlwind or Cruel Task Master in their hands, but typically Patron Warriors will mulligan Whirlwind at least in this matchup. Try to avoid giving your opponent too much Armorsmith and Acolyte of Pain value if at all possible. Feel free to use your Owls to silence Acolyte of Pain to prevent them from drawing too deep into their deck for easy answers to your minions. You are a much faster deck, but if the Patron draws the right cards (like in any matchup) they will win.

Vs Mages -

Tempo Mage: I find this to be one of the better matchups as long as you have an early start and your opponent doesn't have Mana Wyrm. I might even consider using a War Axe charge to kill the Mana Wyrm if it means my other minions have a chance at dealing more damage. Just keep worrying about your opponents dome piece and start taking chunks of their life total away turn by turn. Owl's best target in this matchup is most likely Mad Scientist or in a pinch, shutting off a Flamewaker.

Freeze Mage: I could see this matchup being real tough since Freeze Mages tend to have a good matchup against Face Hunters and you rely on attacking with minions then Face Hunter (less burn spells). Save your Owls for Doomsayers to help a board position last slightly longer. The rest is hard, but sometimes do able if you can apply enough pressure.

Vs Druid - The only time I had an enormous amount of struggle is when paired up against a purely Taunt Druid, with Ancient of Wars and all. Just keep attacking their face, use your Owls on Belchers and Ancient of Wars. Eventually you will find yourself using some of your minions and/or weapons to clear Druid of the Claw, but try to hold Owl with 2 specific minions in mind.

Vs Paladin - No matter what the Paladin is, you are a faster deck and need to stay aggressive by attacking Face. Typically Deathbite is your only chance at clearing some minions off your opponents board, so try to get it rolling ASAP. Save your Owls for - Aggro = Shielded Minibot, Blessing of Kings, and Lepper Gnome - Midrange/Control = Sludge Belcher and Tirion.

Vs Hunter - You can usually out race any Hunter, which is one of the upsides to this deck. Try to save your Owls for Mad Scientists and Haunted Creepers. If you can get a 1 mana minion or a Charge minion Freezing Trapped, then go for it.

Vs Shaman - This should be a decent matchup regardless of whether it's Control or Mech. Use your Owls on - Mech = Powermace Target and Annoy-o-Tron - Control = Sludge Belcher, Nerubian Egg, and Defender of Argus targets. Keep applying pressure and go face every turn and eventually you should win this. Be sure to keep Whirling Zap-o-Matic off the table.

Vs Warlock -

Aggro: This can be a tough matchup mostly due to Voidwalker and Defender of Argus. Use your Owls on Nerubian Eggs and Defender of Argus targets. If trading a 2/1 into a Knife Juggler means letting more future minions potentially survive, go for it because Juggler tends to get out of hand vs Zoo and Demon Warlocks.

Control: Try your best to play around Molten Giant + Taunt since this is hard to get through. Save your Owls for TAUNTS ONLY. Typically you race a Control Warlock down pretty quickly since they don't put up too much of a fight for the first few turns and mulligan vs Patron and Control Warriors.

Vs Rogue - I find this to be one of the better matchups since most Rogues only have Antique Healbot as a means of gaining life or causing a problem. However Healbot is not a card Rogues typically keep vs Patron and Control Warrior, so this rarely comes into play. Keep racing as if your life depends on it (because it does! :O). Rogues don't like to be pressured early so usually you can catch them with their pants down from mulliganing vs Patron and Control Warrior (typically toss away Backstab).

Vs Priest - The biggest issue I've had with Priests is not having an answer for Deathlord, so I've been making it a habit of keeping 1x Owl in my opening hand when given the opportunity. This is not a great matchup by any means, but you must stay persistent and go Face as much as possible. Owls should be used on Taunts only. War Axe + Bloodsail Raider is definitely the best opening hand against a Priest since they have a hard time dealing with the Bloodsail early. If killing an opposing minion means getting in for more potential damage in the future, I'd suggest you go for it.

Adapting to your Meta:

Right now Shattered Sun Cleric is the only real utility slot so you'll probably only make small changes if any at all.

If you are running into more Taunts: -1 Shattered Sun Cleric +1 Execute

Make other changes as you see fit or if you just have the urge to try something new.

Card Choices:

Upgrade! - This card when paired with any weapons is anywhere from 4 - 6 damage for 1 mana, so it seemed like a decent 1 of in the list. Playing 2 would become too clunky and not allow for all your weapons to be depleted from their charges soon enough. That is also the same reason we don't play any more weapons in case you're wondering.

Dread Corsair - I like how this card is practically a free spell when paired a weapon. Typically he doesn't get in for a lot of damage, but does protect your other minions to get a few extra points in.

Shattered Sun Cleric - This was the utility slot that I was playing around with. Originally it was a Coldlight Oracle, but I soon realized I just wanted another 3 mana minion that could actually be cast on T3. Cleric helps pump your 2/1s to keep them out of Hero Power range and in turn lets them get in for more damage.

FAQ:

Q - 2k Dust and Naxx? That seems like an expensive "budget."
A - These guides are intended for people looking to spend some Dust/Gold and have the ability to acquire at least the bare essential Adventure Mode, Naxxramas. Budget is much different than F2P, which is why I don't label my decks and guides as F2P to cause confusion. Budget means you are willing to spend a little, where as F2P means ...well....Free.

Q - Is this deck better or worse than Face Hunter?
A - This deck has more of a "surprise" factor to it and I feel you will win more games from this alone, but I do feel Face Hunter is more consistent from the Hero Power. There also is the benefit of beating most Hunters with this list too.

Q - Looking for a Non-Budget List?
A - The only addition I recommend would be +1 Leeroy Jenkins -1 Arcane Golem. They both accomplish similar things and want to be cast late in the game, however you get punished slightly less with Leeroy.
