So far after testing this deck in casual it hasn't lost a game yet. I am currently rank 5 and I have tested it in ranked. It is very strong against most classes, and doesn't seem to have any bad match-ups. Although there are only 4 cards that have overload, Lava Shock works very well with a turn 5 Feral Spirit, or even if you need the extra burst to kill off a Knife Juggler. Try to take the board early with your Zombie Chows, and Haunted Creepers, and you will never look back. Avoid playing a naked Mana Tide Totem, try to play that behind your Feral Spirit...but worst case scenario it's basically a 0/3 taunt (unless you are close to dying or playing a face hunter). Play out the curve, and use your mana efficiently and you should have success.
*Yolo Rag against face hunter action shot in Rank 5. Props to Workin for praying with me*
The inclusion of Harrison Jones is still questionable, but I think Harrison is becoming stronger as the meta shifts to more weapon based classes due to BRM. You could replace Harrison Jones for another Sludge Belcher.
I'm aware that rank 5 isn't that impressive, but it's still early in the season and I hope to get legend with this deck. I am willing to make a mulligan guide if enough people want to see one.
UPDATE 1.1: I've replaced a Zombie Chow for a second Fire Elemental, and Harrison Jones with an Earth Elemental. Constructive criticism is always appreciated.
UPDATE 1.2: I've replace Loatheb with a Sludge Belcher to add more consistency and more defense against aggro. I haven't been able to play much, but I am rank 4.
Thanks! I originally had 2 Zombie Chows but I got so much criticism that I took it out. I personally still play my original deck.
Cant say I've been liking this deck so far. The lack of the Al'Akir finisher and the Neptulon hand refill really seem to hurt me. Also, Earth Elemental just gets BGH'd or TBK'd, almost single-handedly losing me the game from the tempo swing. I'll keep trying though.
What is this? A control shaman deck without Al'Akir the Windlord and Neptulon How? Hey and also how do I fit Lava Shock into my Control Shaman? http://i.imgur.com/1TMfmgB.png
That would probably work just fine. Maybe a different 6 drop but KT sounds good.
That works too.
Well, as I can see, Earth Elemental is a bargain card since the release of [card]Lava Shock[/card] which can be only removed for free by TBK, BGH and [card]Shadow Word: Death[/card], which means it is a big drop hard to remove at turn 5 that together with another taunt counters most of the aggro decks. Neptulon is great, but you should then change a little bit the structure of the deck, maybe adding another [card]Defender of Argus[/card] to add board presence? Hope I helped ^^
I think if you're going to run 2 lava shock, at the very least you should have Neptulon. I would cut rag.
Fun deck, but I got wrecked by mech rogue and some weird semi-zoo pally. Maybe my like of finesse or RNG gods smiting me.
Also, that rogue played a fire elemental from his deck with battle cry and everything; what allowed him to do that?
Gang Up
The Zoo Pally is called Eboladin. Here's Day 9's version of it: http://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/210928-day-9-derpy-beatdown-paladin. Cheap deck(No Legendaries) and really fun to play.
What are your thoughts on replacing one of the haunted creepers for a nerubian egg.
Maybe both, might be a good idea!
First off, great deck Shaman is my favorite class and the deck is really fun to play with. Unfortunately I’m running into some budget issues. I don’t have either Rag or Sly and am currently replacing them with Piloted Sky Golem and KT. I’m wondering if this is a good sub or not. The deathrattle synergy with KT is insane, and dropping a KT and you have an Earth Elemental on the board is pretty good.
Secondly what’s your few on Lightning Bolts and Crackless because of the spell damage synergy and the combo with Lava Shock.
Finally does [card]Chromaggus[/card] have any spot in this deck?
Thumbs up from me!
Those are decent subs. Lightning Bolt and Crackle could fit nicely, but as of now I don't think I would replace anything for them. I don't know how good Chromaggus will end up being, but I don't think he will have a spot in the deck. Thanks for the support!
Interesting deck. I really like seeing people give Shaman a go in constructed so kudos for making it 'work'.
Some stuff that caught my eye about your deck, if you can give us your input on your thought process here that'd be great:
1) Only 1 Earth Shock? I think you might have a point with this but having one dictates that you're holding it for a particular target. What target is valuable enough to use your only silence on, in your view?
2) Only 1 Rockbiter Weapon. This I can't understand as much, although I do get that the card forces you to Doomhammer and Al'Akir as well, both of which pigeonhole Shaman into a certain style. What is this Rockbiter Weapon here for? Other than the DH and AA, I use it to trade up but having one makes it less reliable.
3)Zombie Chow. Am I the only person that really dislikes this card in Shaman? We're a class that is already on the backfoot as it is vs aggro and, especially against Huntards, if I draw this at any point after turn 3 I'm loathed to use it. Unless you're slamming this down on turn 1 I don't think it's a desirable card, even with Flametongue Totem and Rockbiter Weapon giving it effect. We simply can't afford to be giving our opponents health most of the time. Our card draw limitations dictate that this is even worse than other classes that can find it in addition to other cards. We've all experienced the Zombie Chowtop deck.
Well regarding the Earth Shock, I do have 2 Hex in there, so there are 3 targets that will get silenced. I felt like the second Earth Shock could have been replaced with something else. The Rockbiter Weapon is there to help create board presence, but also to keep it in mid/late game. Having 1 isn't that reliable, but better than having 0 and there were other cards that I wanted to go into the deck. Zombie Chow is misunderstood I think. Most people see it as healing your opponent for 5, but it also absorbs 3 or more damage from going to your face, so it really only heals your opponent for 2 at most. That's the way I look at it at least. Even if used in the mid-game, at the cost of 2 net health to your opponent, it still helps develop your board for only 1 mana, which is crucial for Shaman. Maybe your points are right, I was just sharing my thought process. Thanks for the constructive criticism!
That's fine, I wasn't suggesting you're wrong. Thanks for sharing your deck. thumbs up from me.
If you play EU servers throw me an invite, it'd be good to discuss this further!
I only started playing this game mid December so I'm still working on NA, but I hop on EU occasionally.
I never understand why people put this down as if it's solely the decks fault?
If you expect the deck to do everything for you without any effort involved from the player to make the win happen...Blizzard had the good grace to make Hunter a thing...
Go play that instead?
0-34 ? I would've deleted the deck as soon as I went 0-4.
