Greetings!
So unfortunately, this isn't one of my dust free versions, but it will hopefully help you beat this crazy boss.
He's crazy. Seriously, there's some insane things you have to go up against.
- Executus begins the game with 30hp and 15 armor. When he dies, he summons Ragnaros, who will have 30hp and 30 armor. In total, that's 105 health you have to eat through. Yikes!
- The Majordomo's hero power summons a 3/3 minion. Similar to Anubrekhan, the first Naxx boss, except with 1/1 fewer stats. Don't let this lul you into a false sense of security: Executus has a number of removal spells that complement his cheap minions, often leaving you fighting for the board.
- Ragnaros' hero power is the typical 2 mana deal 8 damage to a random enemy. Except it procs twice. Hope that you aren't unfortunate enough to get all four to your face :S
- Executus has somewhere around seven molten giants in his deck. Yah, seven. In other words, be careful with his health!
With that out of the way, here's how I beat him:
mulligan for cheap minions that can deal with his 3/3s. The faerie dragon is especially useful because he can't use removal on it, as is the ironfur, as it will save you some face damage. If you're lucky, he won't coin out one of his mini-me's, giving you a turn of preperation. Use your taunts constantly to trade efficiently into his minions, and use sap when he pulls some crap like core hounds, something expensive. When you have the opportunity, use the gang ups on both a coldlight and a healbot for efficiency. Toward the late game, try to keep a taunt alive, sunwalkers being the ideal minions here. Eventually, the hope is that you can play Kel and start getting some good trades. Take note that Executus may become wary of trading into your taunts once Kel comes out. Also keep in mind that he has enough removal that he can kill kel, so try to bait most of it out.
The end game is to get him to run out of cards, and thus win by fatigue. Try to keep his health at 21 or above so he can't play the giants, at least until you can get a kel / taunt thing set up.from there you can either trickle them out to deal with them one by one, or damage him enough in one turn to summon the firelord. At this point, you really want to be getting fatigue damage in on him, as rag's hero power will be insane and will outpace you if you take too long.
That's that! Good luck guys, and please ask if you have any questions.
used the modern version of mill rogue with brann
Didn't work for me after 10 tries ...
Got it first try with this deck, thanks : )
Thanks, got it on the first try!
13 damage overkill!
It's a 3/2 rather than a 3/3, but you're right - it makes a perfect, direct replacement for Bloodfen Raptor with a touch more value. Fun!
*edit to add: but don't hold onto it for the added value if you don't have other plays, which is what I did the first time. Whoops!
You bet! For the dancing swords, the best alternatives are probably either the spider tanks or ogre brutes. While the dancing swords are nice for milling, the biggest aspect is to get an early, cost efficient minion on the board to trade with the 3/3s, which both of those cards do efficiently.
As far as Kel, the main idea behind him is that he helps to trade into the molten giants. Without him, it's really up to you: force tank Max is a cheap big minion, but there might be a tech card that could help. Betrayal, for example, would allow you to limit his board if it gets too big, as most of the minions he plays are low health high attack.
Without Kel, my advice would be to get the Majordomo no lower than 21 health, to prevent the giants from appearing. From here, you can combine your board strength with mill damage to get him all the way down in one turn: once Rag spawns, the giants won't be an issue. From there, it's a fight of trying work around his rather annoying hero power, which means dealing as much damage to him as possible in a short amount of time, through both milling and whatever is on your board.
Hope that helps!
Thanks for the deck dude! I was trying something with gang up but i never got the right draws (tried twice though). With your deck i got it on the 1st try. Really nice and simple deck!
Thank you so much! This helped me finally beat Rag! Third try wit this deck, 15th try overall. Nothing else worked. I ganged up my sunwalkers and KT's making a nearly impossible wall
