Hi guys,
This is my first post here and I'm really excited. After playing Hearthstone for a while, I finally managed to create this amazing deck, which helped me climb around 10 ranks so far. The deck is mainly designed to resist the current meta (anti Zoo/Hunter) and works amazing against control decks aswell.
The deck is a variation of Faramir's. I removed Bloodlustand added a Black Knight since I never used Bloodlust as a finisher or combo anytime. I consider TBK a much better choice here.
I'll edit this post later on, but for now just a quick overview of the combo's:
Reincarnate can be used either on Sylvana's (against Control matchups) or on the Nerubian Egg against aggro. Just think you're playing against a Hunter with explosive shot on: you will get a 4-4 minion + the egg. When the secret reveals, you'll have a 4-2 minion and a 4-4 one!
Akir + 2 Rockbiter's = 18 Damage, your main finisher! Akir can also be used with Flametongue Totem but I keep that one for Totem damage (place a Flamentongue between 2 Totems = ggwp).
Lightning Storm is great against Aggro decks. Wolves are also incredibly useful.
This is just garden variety control. It has all the control staples, TBK, BGH, Synvanas, and Defender of Argus. If you don't draw off curve, few decks stand a chance. Problem is the deck will be more likely to draw off curve than say the stock huntertaker or zoolock and so it will likely have a lower win rate. That is the thing I don't get about control. There is nothing fun about losing even if the wins are more gratifying. I guess to each his own.
Personal opinion so please keep that in mind but this deck seems terrible... especially as it's being touted as an anti-aggro. some of the best anti agro cards in the game let alone shaman are the doomhammer and lighting bolts... then there should be a couple of chows. Instead you put eggs and sylvanas with reincarnate? one of the most situation combos you could come up with meant for a control style... Erm... Speechless. The eggs should be for the totoms or Defender of Argus, you dont need reincarnate for them... and having reincarnate solely for sylvanas...Well that's just dumb... could have a chow, lighting bolt or doomhammer which can kill several aggro minions but instead you want to steal 1 more and that warrants a slot in the deck? pfft
I have recently tried an even stronger anti aggro shaman deck than this one and i still got destroyed by most hunters and most zoos unless i got perfect draw of lighting bolts and wolves.
That's way too harsh of a statement, imo. In the pure sense of anti-aggro, no, but since it is "mainly designed to resist the current meta", you still meet a Ragnaros or other lovely BGH targets sooner or later on the ladder. Same goes for TBK.
That being said, I would probably switch some cards for 2 Lightning Bolts, since it will handle pretty much any undertaker, and especially as shaman, where the odds for you having +spellpower is significantly bigger.
Shaman is in a really weird place right now. It is not the best against Hunter because of the Hunter's hero ability and to sometimes just overwhelm the player. Priest which does great against Hunter is usually a large portion of the meta along with Warlock, is a poor match-up for Shaman. I would suggest putting Doomhammer in for Al'Akir and removing the BGH for a Zombie chow. If you wanna make the deck more consistent against aggro I would replace the eggs and reincarnate with Lightning bolts and another Chow. I see why you have them in there and it does posses a lot of potential, plus it is fun. I am glad you are having success with the deck, the changes I suggested would make it more consistent against the majority of the meta right now.
I play as Shaman since my beginning in Hearhstone and i have to agree with you. With my current deck i just instant concede when i face Zoo or Hunter on the ladder. I wanted to make a deck to counter they as a Shaman still, so i could continue to play my favourite class but i miss some cards. This Dnd deck sounds like what i would have built. I can't play this deck, but thumbs up anyway!
There is always a chance against Hunter and Zoo, but it all depends on if you have your removals and AOE's and how good of a start they had. If hunter got a really sick turn 1-4 it is all downhill for the shaman player if he cant remove the undertaker within a few turns.
When I play against Zoo I feel like its a decent matchup depends on your mulligans. Shamans main weaknesses are limited health gain which provides inevitability for your lost, because even if you stabilize against hunter unfortunately if you are at 6 health you have a max of 3 turns. Also card draw can be quite poor, sure if you get a walled of mana tide it can draw a good amount but its too slow.
Yeah and thats a solid argument, Zombie chow can be a dead card, like argent squire but by itself I feel it is far superior card. Especially against Zoo where a lot of minions are at 2health. The health gain can hurt in control match ups but it rarely causes me to lose unless I have them almost dead and waiting for burst damage. But if you are having more success with the Squire then thats cool with me.
Using Doomhammer instead of Al'Akir, I think it works a little better. Partly because you get more usage, it costs less, and it's more removal since you don't run lightning bolts. Great deck though.
Never, you see, NEVER use BGH on hunter.
Edit: on shaman ofc.
Houndmaster on Savannah Highmane maybe?
Windfury, since you got 7 units that actually hits harder than Al'akir. That comes without the sweet flexibility that you get with Al'akir, but whatevs. That's just what happens, when you switch from legendary to a regular card. :)
