Naiman - The New Generation of Hunting
I am Naiman, legendary hunter from Kazakhstan (currently #3 EU). So far I've hit the legendary rank every season starting from S3. I normally play at the legendary ranks 200-300 but in S6 I reconsidered my game play. I hit the top 10 in EU before and after the hunter nerf to prove that hunters aren't dead.
I keep getting asked about my deck so I decided to finally reveal it. This deck is the new generation of hunters post nerf. It turns out that hunters are still one of the best classes in the game despite the nerf of Starving Buzzard. Mid-range hunters are the best class to win before the 10 mana mark.
This deck runs 4 removals due to the current meta: Hunter's Mark, Ironbeak Owl, Spellbreaker, Deadly Shot.
Card Explanations
The key cards which I added to the basic mid-range hunter's deck are:
Sea Giant: This card single-handedly wins many matches against zoo-locks, shamans and mages. It combos well with Unleash the Hounds. The reason I included this card is due to the nerf of Starving Buzzard. Hunters keep pressure until turn 4/5 but after that they run out of mana and the pressure drops. It is also a useful late-game card in some situations.
Spellbreaker: The reason I chose this card is due to its stats. Hunters have problems controlling the board after turn 4. This card is used as a removal and it also helps to control the board which is vital hunter’s gameplay.
Defender of Argus: I've been running this card since S3. Houndmaster is a great card but sometimes hunters need 2 taunts to survive or to increase the pressure. Another reason for adding this card is matches against priests, as it’s very important to try to keep 4 attack creatures on the board.
Knife Juggler: This is my favorite card, I’ve use it in all my hunter decks. It combos with Unleash the Hounds, Snake Trap, Haunted Creeper and in some situations Hunter's Mark.
Deadly Shot: One of the best cards to help control the board and to eliminate single taunts.
Deck Match-Ups
Rogue: approximately 40% win ratio.
Shaman: approximately 60% win ratio.
Priest, Warrior and Druid: approximately 70% win ratio.
All other classes (Mage, Paladin, Warlock) are approximately 75%+ win ratio.
Mulligan Strategy and Gameplay < bold
Basically you want to mulligan for common cards: Undertaker, Haunted Creeper, Mad Scientist, Knife Juggler and Webspinner. These are the best cards in any game, but the deck is reliant on combos in some match-ups.
Therefore, if you get Haunted Creeper, Snake Trap and Sea Giant in your starting hand, It’s a perfect hand since it’s a possible turn 4-5 Sea Giant.
Tips for Harder Match-Ups
Priest
Try to mulligan for Deadly Shot, Knife Juggler, Eaglehorn Bow, Mad Scientist.
There are two main decks which I faced on the ladder.
Kolento’s Priest Deck

Deathrattle Priest

Against the Deathrattle priest you need to get the board control as early as possible. Don’t be afraid to sacrifice your main minions like the Knife Juggler or the Undertaker to gain the board control. For Kolento’s priest you want to get your Knife Juggler out as soon as possible to add pressure and to kill the Northshire Cleric
Rogue
Try to mulligan for all the Deathrattle cards: (Webspinner, Undertaker, Haunted Creeper, Mad Scientist).Until turn 5 you need to make sure you put at least one minion per turn.
Shaman
Try to mulligan for: Eaglehorn Bow, Mad Scientist and Sea Giant. The key game plan in this match is to try to clear the shaman’s board, try to develop at least one minion per turn and to hero power as much as possible.
Have fun climbing to the top!

I did hit a legend with this deck first time ever! it went pretty easily after i started to avoid common mistakes. This deck is really good, but do not be fooled with it - you do really need to plan your moves for few turns forward instead of mindless face hitting. But trust me, once you realize how do you mulligan and play with this deck against every other class you will have your success.
Naiman, thanks for the best hunter deck ever!
P.s. For those who think how successful can it be when its a regular player playing, making mistakes and misplays:
Day 1. (3-5 hours) Climbed from rank 20 to rank 5 on a 95% win streak, then from rank 5 to rank 4 losing 1 game in between.
Day 2. (3-5 hours) Lost two and won two, then went to rank 2 with 3 stars without losing any then lost one and stopped.
Day 3. (7 hours) Dropped to rank 4 while playing and then climbed to rank 2 with 5 stars without losing.
Day 4. (1.5 hours) Climbed to 4 stars, lost 1, climbed to 5 stars, lost 1, and then won two - now I'm a legend.
great result... gz
this deck has the magic touch! i was stuck at rank 5, but have now won 5 games in a row to get to rank 4. Will I make legend before the season ends?! XD
Rubbish deck, so dependent on card draw, got wasted by chump decks that I could have beaten with a starter deck. But thanks for sharing.
It's actually a pretty good deck... I think your decision making is off if you are not succeeding with it. It's all about making the right choices v.s. each type of class and playing properly in order to get the best value over your cards, maintaining pace & control, and overwhelming your opponent.
players like u are trying to find some deck with which they will hit legend. But ppl like u need to realize that even though the decks you are getting from this site are good... they still require some brain..... Please ask someone who is smart enough to tell you the conclusion....
I'm not interested in hitting "Legend" I just want to have a bit of fun in the evening after I come home from work. I've continued trying this deck out, and while it might work for you and a handful of other folks, it's not really a good deck. When I average around 40% win ratio with my decks overall, any deck that nets me 10%, as this one does, cannot be considered, at least by me, to be a good deck. You put this deck out there as YOUR opinion on a good hunter deck, now I'm telling you MY opinion is that it's WORSE than many of the other hunter decks I have tried. But like I said, thanks for the effort champ :-) And Gingerbreadman1 - You already said you were struggling with the deck, so settle down tiger, my decision making is just fine, thanks for asking :-)
I'm struggling b/c I'm hovering at about rank 3-4 and can't hit legend. I'd be grateful for any advice Naiman can give me in order give me that extra push I need. If you don't like the deck, just move on. Plenty of folks have tried this deck (i see it frequently on ladder, also...) and plenty of folks like it. You don't like it because you can't play it...
You're right, this deck is fantastic, I won a few matches with it last night after my opponents fled the battle, no doubt terrified of this decks capabilities. I'm only a crappy part time player, so I guess I will only ever have decent win rates playing with the crappy decks designed other legend ranked players, or my own designs. Thanks for setting me straight, and good luck with your Legend Quest.
Maybe you should start watching Twitch and learn how to play this game... This deck is really strong #1 for how cheap it is to build and #2 for how well it works against the current Meta.. Learn to keep board clear when need and plan 2 turns ahead...
You have issues, hifi.
There is actually more rng than brain AND play time.Hunter offers a ton more games played than say control decks, this allows way better chance to hit legend ranks. Now the difference between two players playing the same deck can and is as simple as rng.10% better rng than player 2 can give you many more ranks.RNG % can be way higher,a group of players in the top of the rng charts might have 20-30% better rng than others leading to again many more ranks w/o using any brain at all.
Just watched Xixo owning with Hunter, switches servers faces tons of mirror matches and turns into a 50% win rate.He is rank 1 legend, should a legend 1 be losing to non legends and 500-800 ranks players 50% of the time?No of course not so why is he,well it is the deck of course and fact he plays WAY more hours than an average player.Point??Point is that being a top rank player is not as much as it is cracked up to be especially proven he turns into a 50% win rate or worse when he has to face mirror matches.
Point also being you can't judge someone who is losing with the exact same deck because as i just pointed out Xixo #1 was LOSING with the same deck he got #1 on NA server.A lot comes down to rng AND the luck of what decks you are facing,so yes again it is rng.
Hi Naiman,
Thanks for the deck. For the moment, I am stuck with it... the Gamplay Example Videos are no longer active (what happened? did you take them down?). Can you please post more? This will help many people.. I am struggling to make the right decisions in each match-up. Thanks so much... PS. I caught your stream today but there was no narration =)
right now i usually stream with music....
watch the stream on weekends... I'll explain my gameplay.... or u can write ur questions on the stream's chat... I answer all of them....
Videos expired.... You can check the previous games tho if you go to "highlights" and then click "past broadcasts"...
If possible, please 'record' or 'save' the stream where you provide commentary. I did watch the two videos under "past broadcasts". No twitch account or spare money for subscription... I apologize.
I am having a lot of success with the deck when I draw well.
Ex. #1 Against Hunter: If I can get turn 1 Undertaker, Turn 2 Deathrattle... then I am in a very good position. At that point, it depends on outsmarting the other hunter and making maximum use of cards. However, if THEY turn 1 Undertaker and Turn 2 Deathrattle, or worse... if they coin undertaker and deathrattle... then I can't catch up (even if I have a decent mulligan, like Mad Scientist and Loot Hoarder)... I have to mulligan hard for the Undertaker + Deathrattle against all hunter.
Ex. #2 Control Warriors seem to be a big problem. I found that it's best to get Mad Scientist early because there is such a high chance they will have axe on turn 1 or 2 and you would get poor value from underatker. If I end up with undertaker, I play anyways and hope they don't have axe. My problem with control warrior is all of their removal spells. Another big problems is their weapon "Death's Bite" that does 4 damage and the deathrattle does 1 damage to all minion... If I set up my trap then they get such good value and clear the board easily.
Ex. #4 Control Priest... If I don't get great draw, and massive early game pressure, then they have too many ways to turn the game around. Cabal Shadow Priest, Shadow Madness to steal minions. Multiple ways to clear by using pyro or auchenai combo.
I hope you can interpret some of these concerns. I understand there is a great deal of skill involved in making the 'correct' play, but I can't find enough flexibility in order to outsmart the opponent... I have great success with Warlock Zoo. I can take down Handlock if I play perfectly. But there is so much stress on getting the right cards!
Thanks for this Deck! It's amazing
I hit the second time Legend with this Hunter Deck
My winrate from Rank 3 to Legend was 63% (With coin 50% 14-14 and without coin 72% 29-11)
So with this deck you really don't want to have the coin against aggro matchups
My matchups
Priest 4-2 67%
Warrior 1-4 20% (Hardest matchup)
Warlock 15-9 62%
Mage 1-0 100%
Druid 1-3 25%
Hunter 16-4 80%
Shaman 3-2 60%
Paladin -
Rogue 2-1 67%
