With the arrival of the K&C expansion and seeing how many strong cards Mage got with it, I thought maybe it's time to build a budget mage, that is different from the ones we see on ladder. Before anything else I have to say this is an experimental deck that worked out suprisingly well so far and it's fun to play, not that "sweaty" as Quest Mage e.g.

THIS DECK SCARES PEOPLE SH*TLESS!

Based on what they see in the first few turns many of my opponents think this is a Death Knight Mage and we all know how soulcrushing that deck can be. I had some concedes when the elementals started to roll out, even before I managed to get a good hand. I know it's not the aim but hell... psychological warfare is a thing, right?

This deck has a ton of RNG involved. Starting with Shifting Scroll over to Lesser Ruby Spellstone and of course Cabalist's Tome, but when it gives the right cards it is devastating.

It's not mandatory but good to use the spellstones after one upgrade at least, because that's how they really bring in the value.

I know the deck lacks of early drops but try to use Arcane Artificer as an elemental trigger for other cards (spellstone included) or more in the late game when you play big spells so he can give you more armor which is of course insanely valuable.

Any other way you need to read the situation right. When to play Shifting Scroll when to fill your hand with random spells etc. First Medivh, the Guardian wasn't in the deck but then one game I got 3 Glacial Mysteries from the random spell generators and I died with them in my hand. An 8 mana minion on the board could have saved me, so don't be sad if you get that card. It will come handy. Have Fun!
