Curious that you bemoan a "brainless meta" in the comment section of a card that is anything but brainless.
Did you grind or did you buy yourself to those golden cards, my feelsbadman meter is conflicted.
how'd that go for ya
If this guy doesn't make a Little Shop of Horrors reference, then... they better be making SOMETHING with one!
So after the release of The Caverns Below I still fail to see how it has any synergy with Sherazin. I would love to hear your own input
Pros:
You get a guaranteed minion on turn 6 after you played your crystal core (probably going to play 4 cards if you play the hole bounce rogue)
Cons:
It takes up a board slot while being in it's dormant form and token decks really value board space
It only gains 2 health which isn't that bad, but you already paid 4 mana for a 5/3 whilist the goal of your deck is to play wisp type minions
It has no stats and can't attack or be attacked while being dormant.
Suggest your own Pros & Cons
Maybe Sherazin isn't meant for this archetype, but that brings up an important question how much support can 1 expansion give to a new archetype. Hope blizz don't just make this and leave it like they did with gang up and ferryman
Directly? There is no particular synergy between Sherazin, Corpse Flower and The Caverns Below.
However, the core of Shadowstep, Coldlight Oracle, other card drawing battlecries, and other return-to-hand effects synergizes strongly with both cards. Returning a card to your hand and replaying it not only counts as playing cards multiple times for the quest, but it also gives you a clean way to play multiple cards for Sherazin. Also, the cheap battlecry minions can be played as cheap 5/5s after Crystal Core is in full effect.
Suppose you just play Novice Engineer and use Shadowstep to replay it. You've spent two mana, played two cards, and drawn two cards. You're halfway to the quest and three-quarters of the way to reviving Sherazin, and you've still got enough mana to play that fourth card. (Plus, that card that could well be a Youthful Brewmaster to bring you even closer to quest completion.)
I think the Rogue quest is one you will want to mulligan away. There's really no need to keep it, because you actually don't know which minion you're going to be able to bounce. (Assuming you have a few that could do the job well in your deck.) So, keep it, use it with Gadgetzan Auctioneer for card draw, and complete the quest all in one turn. This means you get one extra 5/5 that turn.
I'm not saying that's good or that this card is good; I just think that's an interesting synergy.
The synergies I like more are with Barnes and even Unearthed Raptor. As for the latter, I'd like to know if the card resurrects during battle-cry phase or only after the minion as hit the board. I also like how it could work with lots of little removal cards. It could kind-of become an SI:7 Agent if you re-summon it with a thalnos-coin-evis+one other card. Worth trying.
if I play N'Zoth after this, how many Sherazins do I get?
If I had to guess, I'd say "one for each one that died." If you play Sherazin and it dies three times, there are three Sherazins in the graveyard for N'Zoth, the Corruptor to summon.
The deathrattle simply means "summon Sherazin, Seed". It's no different in terms of deathrattle synergy from Harvest Golem or Jade Swarmer. The only other way it could work would be for the deathrattle to mean "transform this minion into Sherazin, Seed," which would result in no Sherazins being added to the graveyard at all. The animation from the reveal livestream clearly indicates the former interpretation. You can clearly see the "flash white into existence" animation of most summon effects when the seed hits the table.
In fairness, they have been "killing rogue" every expansion since Naxx and I have never seen the class die. In fact given the class popularity on Hearthpwn's home page right now the class is very much alive and well.
It might not look like it as every expansion gives the class a bunch of cards that struggle to fit in established archetypes, but maybe the devs actually know how to do rogue properly. I am more worried about the classes which actually do vary between weak and overpowered.
@Wizboy
You know, maybe the Rogue class simply isn't made for you. Maybe you're just more into big goofy numbers. If so, Shaman is clearly the go-to class, they just got a big goofy legendary ! How cool :D
Oh, and have fun drowning in tears about the loss of Tunnel Trogg and Totem Golem ! ;-D
While it's too early to say "this card is bad" after only one card is being revealed for us for Rogues...I'll say it's bad...from looking at cards known atm.
... why does a flower have eyes?
With Unearthed Raptor rotating out of standard i don't see any reason to be playing death rattle rogue
I'm going to run this card with shadowstep and pandas and create my own meta with Blackjack and hookers.
"... with Blackpaw and hookers"
Now that Blizzard is exploring the design space of objects on the board that aren't minions, such as Sherazin, Seed or Nether Portal, I think we need a technical term for it, a concise way to refer to the mechanic.
May I suggest we agree to call them "emblems" because they are so similar to MTG's emblems? They're both unkillable, permanent objects that have a passive effect and can't be interacted with in any way.
This is too slow, unless it has charge when it "wakes up".
I have been thinking a lot about this card and have come down to this conclusion: this card is AMAZING IN QUESTING MIRACLE!!! Allow me to explain.
1. Lets say your current Miracle Deck/Hand has a counterfeit coin, and a few other zero cards in it that are customary to Miracle play like prep and back stab, then maybe you have another low cost spell like cold blood or eviscerate. My miracle breaks down 17 spells 13 minions so this is not unlikely.
2. You play this card on curve at 4 and your opponent kills it on 5 with something. You don’t start your cycle with Auctioneer or Questing/Edwin until turn 6 minimum anyways. So you go off on your card flurry, if you have Auctioneer you replace your hand, if not you get massive board presence with Questing/Edwin. That is typically how to play Miracle right…?
3. Only now your SHERAZIN, CORPSE FLOWER comes back with your Auctioneer or your Questing or Edwin on a turn you were going to play at least four cards on any way! So even if it comes back one time you are getting a value of 10/6 (5/3 x 2) for only spending 4 mana! That is 2 points better than Flamewreathed Faceless without the overload. This card is INSANE IN QUESTING MIRACLE ROGUE and will definitely see play!
but then you have to think when are you getting multiple coins? tomb pillager is rotating out XD
