And as a side point: The very existence of Staghelm and his extreme early-game threat will cause people to keep premium removal in their opening hand. If you don't have or draw Staghelm, it sits in their hand, dead. Advantage, you.
Wisps of the Old Gods is a cool combo, but wow is that a bad card to put in your deck unsynergized and the odds of creating this Hearthstone Highlight Reel moment are unlikely during most games.

Confirmed to choose the beneficial order. As you can see, Cenarius choose the taunts then the buff, which is the opposite order of the card text. Keeper also silences then damages.
Actually it does not. I tested, and keeper of the grove will silence its target first, and then hit it for 2- killing shielded minions, and stopping deathrattle effects. I also had a game where I discovered Cenarius off of Idol, and he summons the treants, and then buffs the board. Blizzard just took the time to code their cards so that Staghelm is a powerful card.
One thing few people have noted: Staghelm may be the best turn one/two Innervate play Druid has ever had. If the Druid can follow up with a couple Choose One's like Wrath, Power of the Wild, Mark of Nature, Dire Keeper, etc it is likely gg unless the opponent draws specific removal cards.
I think this card is a bit over rated, it's like Brann but 1 mana more expensive, harder to combo.
you only need to combo one card (more expensive that druid of the flame) to make this worth it
From what I read thus far, we see theory's just because of one effect . It's a good card but it's as a few people say there isn't too much choose cards some are too costly indeed this card needs to stay alive for more then one turn, unless your opponent is a jackass who can't tell what value is... Considering if your opponent is smart this card won't surivive one turn. Another scenerio from what I read... Other people don't really care what value you get from it.... When you over extend on this card they have a chance to counter it. Overall we have yet to see what the meta game is like
This card won't see play, most overrated card in the expansion hands down.....seriusly if it's not removed it's effect isn't that great and that a big if. Is a 3/5 for 4. Not cutting it
I want you to play a druid of the flame after dropping him, and then look me in the eyes and repeat what you just said. He's really not meant to played on curve, just like Brann is not meant to be played on curve. He is a lategame/combo card that will make raven idol a crazy card, lets druid of the saber serve as a pseudo wrath, and upgrades much of your removal- Wrath gets to do 4 damage and draw a card for 2 mana.
I think I'm one of the few that doesn't this card is as crazy as people think. How many choose one cards would you need to run in your deck in order for it to be viable? Basically you would play this on turn 8-10 with Druid of the Claw but overall I don't think that's any crazier than just playing a big legendary.
There are other uses for it other than the one you say. It also works well with Wrath, Living Roots, Druid of the Flame, Ancient of War, Nourish, Cenarius, Druid of the Saber, Mark of Nature, and Power of the Wild. Granted, a lot of these cards can't be played on the same turn as this one very easily, but unless you're playing against Mage, your opponent will have a hard time dealing with a 5-health minion on turn 4.
Normally you would want to use this card immediately with spells instead of minions! Spells choose one effects are two different effects, minions like Druid of the Claw or Druid of the Saber of Ancient of War share same base body so the effects are not as great feel like 1,5 cards value not as strong as Wrath, Living Roots, Mark of Nature, Nourish or Power of the Wild...or even Feral Rage or Mire Keeper make you get effects of 2 cards at once hence get you better value

In the case of cards like Wisps of the Old Gods and Cenarius, the effects will be activated in the order most beneficial to the player; playing Wisps of the Old Gods with Fandral Staghelm active will first summon the Wisp and thereafter give them +2/+2, and Cenarius will activate Shan'do's Lesson before activating Demigod's Favor.
the effects will be activated in the order they are on the card. not how benifical they are. cenarius will give the buff then spawn the 2/2s. ben stated this during the livestream
You are wrong!!!! read it here
"mdonais 141 points 3 days ago* Fandral, the new Druid legendary plays the 2 effects in whichever order is best for you. So Wisps of the Old Gods will fill your board with wisps and then give them all +2/+2. This is important for cards like Cenarius, where it summons the 2/2 minions and then gives all your minions +2/+2."
