Stats could be better but I guess it''s ok for first reliable combo activator.
like Bloodmage Thalnos , it has a bad mana cost compared to its body stats , but the utility this brings pays the mana cost off . also it looks like a very mini version of Toshley ( since GvG is getting removed)
My first WoW character ever was a herbalist and these toxin names gave me a MAJOR nostalgy attack.
Sounds interesting. Chance for infinite value, Kappa.
no
Yeah. It was just a joke. Hence the . . . ah . . . Kappa.
Possibility of infinite value with Flamewaker and Sorcerer's Apprentice though.
I don't know why, but every time I try to remember what the picture on this card looks like, I think of Sneasel of Pokemon Silver...
(For reference: http://img.pokemondb.net/sprites/silver/normal/sneasel.png)
Luckely for you the most common silcences got nerved. Makes this card pretty good to play :)
I think you're missing the fact that you don't have to play it on turn 4. Tomb Pillager is certainly better then. But later on the small body is less important (does it really matter if it's a 3/2 or a 3/3 on turn 5 onwards?). Plus rogue is, by its tempo nature, able to recover from that loss fairly well. AND the toxins are nearly good enough to be cards by themselves, and are certainly more versatile that mere combo activators.
Think of Sprint. The tempo of that card is way worse, doing nothing to the board with 7 mana (or 4 with prep, but that costs tempo later on and still does less to the board than Xaril). But rogues use it and recover from it just fine. In fact, following turns are often very weak without it, so in some sense you have to lose tempo to sustain it.
In short, even tempo decks CAN use a few low tempo, value cards and get away with it.
Also, try Anub'arak against control warrior. I have done this many times, and because they don't usually run enough/any silences, you pretty much win automatically.
Dude, are you drunk? This card is AMAZING in Miracle Malygos rogue. One of the reasons why that rogue deck even works nowadays is because of Tomb Pillagers. They give you 1 coin. This card, if not silenced, gives you two 1 cost tokens! The "worst" you can get is Shadowstep (Bloodthistle), because it doesn't have that great synergies overall, aside from potential additional card draw with Azure Drake (which might be counterproductive because you may want the spell damage instead), 2 damage from SI7:Agent, or an extra heal from Earthen Ring Farseer (or whichever card will be replacing Antique Healbot - if even). Honestly, not even that's all that bad. You can also get a Conceal (Fadeleaf) to use on your VanCleef, so that he doesn't get offed by BGH in 1 turn (we don't know if BGH is getting nerfed yet, btw), or on Emperor for more discounts! The other toxins are all great. Firebloom Toxin? 2 damage, you say? BITCH, THIS IS MALYGOS ROGUE! THAT'S LITERALLY ANOTHER SINISTER STRIKE! I'M SO HYPED FOR THIS!!!
Seriously? How is that deck unplayable? It's a great deck and I use it all the time. What kind of rogue deck do you play? Are you still clinging onto Oil or maybe you play Raptor? Or is it some kind of tempo rogue with a constant board presence? Yes, I can understand how you'd find this card average, if not below that, if put into a deck that relies heavily on having a good board presence where minion stats & stickiness matter the most, but that doesn't mean that it's a terrible card overall. It has its uses, as I've explained already, and it's a potentially great arena card, as well (depends what your other two picks are, of course). At the very least it's better than Gallywix & Anub'Arak. Loatheb is strictly better than Gallywix and Anub'Arak is just too slow to ever see play. Compared to those two, this card is a nice 4 mana cost minion that provides immediate value through its battlecry. You need to understand that it isn't played for the stats alone. I'm sorry that it upsets you that you aren't getting a cool legendary that would best complement the deck that you enjoy playing the most, but you may yet see some other card that will fit perfectly in it. After all, only 2 out of 8 or 9 rogue cards have been revealed thus far, not to mention a great deal of neutral cards. I'm sure that many new kind of decks will be made after the 26th. Perhaps N'Zoth rogue may even become a thing? Who knows. Personally, I'm just happy that rogue is finally getting another legendary that's playable in some kind of deck, unlike the other two that I mentioned, which are literally never ever played... And that's good enough for me.
Rogue doesn't fight for tempo, Rogue is a time shift class that uses tempo advantage to accomplish this. Losing tempo now to get tempo back later is common theme for Rogue.
E.g. t1 pass, t2 dagger, t3 backstab into si:7 agent to clear board and drop a minion.
I would play this anytime I need either a) combo activators, b) Auctioneer activators, or c) a hand refill. I don't care what happens to the 3/2 body. If my opponent kills it, great I'm glad he wasted one of his actions to give me another toxin. If he ignores the 3/2, I can punish him by hitting face for 3 or trading up against one of his minions (which gives me the toxin).
It's impossible to predict how useful Xaril will be in the new meta until we play it, but when I think about how I currently play Rogue it isn't too hard to see how one would fit him into a deck.
A lot of Miracle lists are still playable. Hell, Dog gets high legend with some miracle list almost every season. And saying something "Will never be playable" just makes you sound silly. I remember pre-Blackrock a lot of people saying Grim Patron would be unplayable. Quite a few people laughed at Purple's Malylock before he trashed everyone in a tourney with it. Don't be so closed minded.
Well this card will be a staple in most rogue decks. Finally a good rogue legendary.
it can be nice in malyrogue but i don't have good thoughts about this card because of randomness of toxics (1 mana shadowstep is pretty shitty)
If Deathrattle rogue isn't becoming really strong, I can see that Malygos decks with a Leeroy Jenkins in it could become new meta - both function fantastically with this legendary. Leeroy would works with this 1 mana shadowstep and +3 attack, while Malygos with the 2 damage and stealth. Of course it would not be perfect, but instead of building a miracle rouge were you have to add real a 0mana shadowsteps in to your deck, you just add this legendary. In a mirical rouge a real 0mana shadowstep alone without Leeroy Jenkins can lead to a potential "death draw", but getting one maybe for free (through rng) isn't taking away any deck space and leaves space for cards that contribute to a Malygos deck. A alone standing Leereoy is not a necessary death draw, in this deck and with luck can become a second finisher.
I am just sharing my thoughts, how this card could come to its maximum potential. :)
This has potential in Tempo Mage
dude, it's a roque card
