I'm sick and tired of this. Every time a new card is released, people jump on this site as quickly as possible to comment on how bad they think the card is and how bad the whole set is.
These same people also don't seem to have the intelligence to think outside the current card set and its meta, are unable to put TGT cards together logistically and determine the new deck archetypes TGT is already setting.
Everyone that's saying the new cards are bad are looking at the new cards, thinking about the decks that they currently play, and THEN try to think of whether the card works in those decks. Little do they know, several weeks after TGT is launched their decks will look very different to how they look now and the considerations they're having now will not be relevant than.
This card, despite being only a 2/4 is a 2 drop with 4 health, who cares if it takes a turn to attack, so do most other cards. Sure you have to use your hero power to allow him to attack, that only makes him fit better into inspire mage and druid. Furthermore, you will be using your hero power to obtain value. This card will easily trade 2 for 1 with most aggro decks. And, sure, his inspire effect does make him slow like other inspire creatures so far but on the other hand, we already have cards like healbot and lay on hands to shift the tempo mid game in your favor against aggro decks. All you need to get it to work is clear the board/make favorable trades throughout the game which most midrange/control decks do anyway and will only be bolstered by inspire cards when TGT is released.
Just wait for TGT to be released and I'll bet you'll all be surprised at how such bad cards can massively shift the meta.
And we are tired of casuals complaining about unplayable cards being playable. All you have to do is compare this card with the 2 mana 3/4 totem card from Shaman, the difference on the power level is very evident, it is not remotely close. People are mad that this took up one of the rare slots, which could have been something way better than this turd that is guaranteed unplayable in constructed and is below average in arena.
People have the rights to rant on under powered sets. I've been playing MtG for over a decade and underwhelming sets don't make a lot of profit, self explanatory. That's why Nax is way more popular than BRM, simply because of the power level and potency of the cards.
Not all cards are made equal. Card assessments are done based on cards that have potential, then they go through a series of trials to make the final cut. This card is not a hard card to evaluate, it is horrible. What do you want to cut from your current deck for this shitty 2 drop. Knife juggler? Haunted creeper? Nerubian egg? Shielded minibot? All which are infinitely better than this card. You might not have the experience in TCG as most of us do, but some cards that are outright bad are not hard to weed out, simple as.
I'm pretty sure Khans and Theros were steps down from Return to Ravnica and Innistrad and both sold just as well and better. I get that it's different with a much smaller cardpool but the set doesn't seem underpowered. Don't ignore the forest for the trees.
Not exactly. Innistrad is way more popular than Theros, moreover it is a lot more pricier. It's more expensive because of the power level, eg : Snapcaster and Liliana, You can check the prices of both boxes on ebay. Theros doesn't hold much value as compared to Innistrad. Khans has fetchlands, so that's that.
RtR was the biggest, as in most popular set in recent times. You cannot compare Theros and Khans to the popularity of RtR. RtR is not only a set of power creeps, but it defines the very essence of magic in dual colours and an expansive and interesting lore. Kamigawa and Lorwyn are equivalent to TGT at the moment, there were a lot of complaints during spoiler season about the power level. The price and popularity of both sets defines how well it is being received by the community, which is utterly shit until this day. And to be fair, Lorwyn has of the best artworks in MTG but was despised because of how bad the set was.
Back to Hearthstone, unless they print a proper inspire card, people would play as if inspire never happened. Some of the best cards from this set like the 2 legendaries and the totem are not inspire cards. Even Dragons, which was a massive flop looked more appealing than this new mechanic they're trying to push. Face hunter would have such a good time during the first week of TGT if this set continues to develop this way. Inspire encourages a slow game, but it doesn't stop aggro, that's the problem. With this card however, everything is the problem, except the artwork.
Heavily underrated cards that were called trash when previewed
Grim Patron: mad eold unplayable cards like Inner rage, warsong commander, frothing berserker and dread corsair playable and spawned a new deck type
Imp-Losion: revived Zoo
Shield Maiden: "omg 5/5 for 6 mana so bad" a.k.a every idiot that only thought on builds of the time and not in new builds that would spawn after the release of the set.
Quartermaster: Only trump believed in this guy
Healbot: there are reasons not to run him on every deck but there aren't reasons for not running him at all.
Dr. Balance: yeah, do i really need to explain this one?? he was called as useless as a war golem and thta poeple should craft troggzor instead of him, well where is your troggzor now?
Just looking at this card as is. it's a dumb card but watch someone make it work and annoy the crap out of you when they win
I think it says "as normal" to indicate that it can't attack on the turn it is played.
All the inspire stuff released so far, this included, is going to be way too slow to compete for slots in existing decks and also too slow to make a competitive new inspire deck. I hope that we'll see an op card or two to make up for it so inspire can be a viable new thing.
For ping mage
+1 Health for a insane downside? Seems legit! Get out of my Sight!
Cool. Seems like fair stats for that drawback.
This inspire cards would be good if hero power would cost for 1 mana.( not with minions ) My thinks so far is they are so slow , if new cards wont stop aggro , all inspire cards will be thrash.
pretty garbage especially for a rare... flesheating ghoul was a rare at somepoint so how this made it as a rare is beyond me
Higher rarety doesn't mean it is better. Typically the more rare cards are more interesting, not necessary better. Ancient watcher is also rare, but less complex than this card. Angry chicken is rare, but you have to justify pretty hard to include it in your deck.
I would like it better if it was a 3/3 instead. Some of the best 2-drops have 3 health.
So it's actually a 2/4 for 4 mana. And that does not excite me.
no it's a 2 mana 2/4 that will attack at the third turn and you will also heropower.I think that this card slows down the meta in a very nice way cay the majority 1-2 minions that are used from agroo decks have less than three health and if they have the half classes can kill this minion with attack and hero power. Also it pretty much survives any low cost trades plus I think that the only spell that kills it on turn 1-3 is shadowflame and a decreased dragonflame : P (also i don't think that if you play it on turn 4 with hero power it will have charge cause it states as normal which means that summoning sickness applies to it).
Over all i think that this card is a better ancient watcher
"There's still 100 cards to be released."
"This minion is at least good in arena."
"This card fits into my... 'unique' deck."
"This card could maybe, quite possibly be played in a slower meta."
Pick your poison for defending this bad card.
Grim Patron has an exception, since basically every card in Patron Warrior synergises with him, and this card synergises with basically nothing. Maybe silence, but you could use Ancient Watcher instead
I like the concept of this card because it presents your opponent with bad choices. Do they play a minion that trades really badly with it? If so, use your hero power and kill it for card advantage. If not, don't attack and play another card.
The problem with the above is that it relies on Argent Watchman trading well with cards that cost 2 or 3 mana and it doesn't really. Most 3 mana creatures and some 2 mana creatures have at least 3 health. If it were a 3/4 I would be very interested in this card. As it is... meh.
