Velen's Chosen is not bad, right? +2/+4, Spell Damage +1, and Whelps? Plus, you can heal!
im suprised not many people have noticed it's potential in warrior.
turn 1 you drop this, they ignore it, and play something for 1 or 2 mana (depending on if your first or second or they use the coin)
turn 2 you can play cruel task master or inner rage, you just did 1 damage to it, gave it +2 attack and you gained a 2/1 whelp. now you use the egg to kill whatever they dropped, 2 damage is usually enough to take care of most 1 or 2 drop minions (though there are a lot that has 3+) and most likely your egg just died or took damage, but now you have a second 2/1 whelp. thus in total you have 2 - 2/1 whelps + 1-2/2 cruel task master. and you did 2 damage to your opponent's minion.
seems pretty good to me.
i fail to see how this would be useful...1 mana is enough for a 2/1 that requires no activator, so a normal 1 drop will always be better in my mind.
untill i get beaten badly by this card, i will note that this card is inferior to magma rager.
Dragon egg in constructed will always have an activator. If it's destroyed by the enemy, then it's basically a 2/3 for 1 mana. It also has synergy with Warrior combos and Zoolock combos, where you can keep the egg alive and still use its effect, or you use spells/minion battlecries to trade with the egg. Either way, you have a solid card.
But you need TWO activators for it to be worth it, not just one activator but TWO.
The best thing about Nerubian egg is that you get a 4/4 for spending 2 mana, which is way above curve, which is why Millhouse Manastorm can backfire badly. But a 2/1 is the same as a normal 1 drop.
Two activators is just wasting cards on a weak effect. The only upside to this card is it in a way is a counter-play to knife juggler or shadowboxer.
I fail to see what two activators you are referring to. Also, Nerubian Egg actually requires more than 2 mana and one card for receiving a 4/4 Nerubian. The egg itself is 2 mana, and the activator would cost another card/mana crystals. The reason I see Dragon Egg as useful is because your opponent has to kill it in one shot for only triggering a 2/1 once. Otherwise, assuming you were playing Warrior (as an example), if you turn 1 Dragon Egg --> turn 2 Cruel Taskmaster, you get three 2/1s. It's insane what this thing could do.
Nerubian egg only needs to die and you get something more than what you payed for, easy ways to do that since you might hellfire, use void terror or use sunfury/argus anyway, and that's just warlock.
Dragon egg needs to get damaged more than once before it's better than an ordinary 1 drop, and that's a lot of investment just to get 2/1s.
I should also mention Destroy effects will not trigger dragon egg.
Your logic about Nerubian Egg requiring only 2 mana to activate can be used the exact same way about Dragon Egg. Trying to justify that Nerubian Egg only requires the Egg card itself to activate because it's a "warlock" thing is completely flawed because you are still using two cards or more to activate it, and Warlock is not the only class to use Nerubian Egg.
Dragon Egg is actually a 2/3 in stats, and obviously you are forgetting that the initial 0/2 is part of its stats as well. A 2/3 without any drawback is insane stats, even if it is broken up.
If your Dragon Egg soaks up a hard removal, then you've already succeeded. I should also mention that half-decent players will never waste a hard removal on a 1-drop. If you are playing against those players, then I suggest you get better at the game.
Dragon Egg has so many ways to activate its effect, some classes more than others, of course, but that's the same scenario with Nerubian Egg. Overall, Dragon Egg is a good, if not great, card, and if you disagree, you should have logically sound arguments before you speak and humiliate yourself.
Murloc Raider is a 2/1 minion for 1 mana that's the stats of a typical 1 drop...Dragon egg when damaged which will usually only be 1 time spawn without significant investment on a weak card.
So you put effort into getting a 2/1 that you could have gotten if you just put a 2/1 in your deck in the first place and get something else like the buff from Young Priestess or 2 health restoration with Voodoo Doctor
Nerubian Egg gives you a 4/4 which is the same as a 4 drop like Ogre Magi or Dark Iron Dwarf, without the card text....which means which are better than normal 2 drops
You actually dare compare this card with Nerubian Egg? Are you insane?
Dragon Egg is complete garbage in every single way. It's hilarious how so many people theorycraft about how the card is 'solid' or 'playable' when in reality it's just trash and will never see play. Not even sure how Quirriff gets down voted when he is 100% correct. Your wet dream of Dragon Egg being good obviously never came true.
It's also hilarious when people look back at people's initial impressions on new cards being released and spew shit about discussions of a card not even released. I love it when, after months of seeing new cards, judge people that had logical impressions on new cards just because it doesn't see play after months of coming out. You must be pretty damn genius to judge every card correctly.
I'm not sure why you're even bothering to defend Dragon Egg, but if you made a prediction and you were wrong... well, you were wrong. That's all there is to it. People always get so excited for every new released card even when it's absolutely terrible to begin. They like to play off the positive aspects of the card, ignore the negative and pretend it will see play. It happens every expansion. I guess people like to always be optimistic or something.
The people on this site like to downvote the realists that tell them the card is really bad (even AFTER the card has seen play and has been tested multiple times) and upvote the guys that just blindly say that every card is good. Pit Lord, Kidnapper, Siltfin Spiritwalker, etc. Even after 2 years since the game has been released, there are still some people who swear that Kidnapper still has 'potential'. I just found all of this to be hilarious.
I know this isn't the page for it, but take a look at Demonfuse or Flame Lance. There are a ton of people who believe that these card will be good somehow. It happens every expansion. I've already stated my opinion on those cards (they're trash tier) and many other TGT cards. So yes, you can call me a prophet and a genius if I judged those cards correctly and call me out if I am wrong. I'll do the same. Thanks. :)
Yeah, you're a prophet for saying a card is objectively bad 4 months after release. Ignore the negative? You're ignoring your own negatives (namely being a douche *I mean prophet*). Just because the card doesn't see much play doesn't make the reasoning invalid. I'm just puzzled on why some people are continuing a 4 month thread that has no relevance since the card was released 4 months ago.
Warrior cancer detected.
Rampage'd eggs :o
Great for zoo and shaman, somewhat great for a warrior enrage deck, if thats even practical
I still think Nerubian Egg is a better drop with a far better outcome. It might work with decks that need a dragon minion on the battlefield to trigger dragon-keyword effects.
One can cast taunt on the dragon egg so that you can get a whelp (via spare parts, def of argus), can combo on a warrior deck with all the 1 damage cards, or with preist deck with all of the +health spells.
on the defensive side, it can really annoy the mech mage users.
Ultimately I don't think this will be played much beyond initial release. One major problem is a 2/1 can easily be removed, even by 1/3 of hero powers ( and by a silver hand recruit). Illidin Has the same problem with his flames which are also 2/1.
This card is seems insane in aggro paladin deck, which most of you known as Shockadin, or Put your faith in the shock. Because of Sword of Justice synergy. Not only this, Abusive Sergeant and Blessing of Might can activate it. I'm gonna start experimenting it, the day it is released :D
