This is trash ahahah.. I mean it's fair.. Considering how broken is secret interaction is.. This is pure trash
So...Mage decks will be half Discover cards that Discover other Discover cards that Discover other...
And half damage spells that won't see play cuz you're busy discovering them while your opponent goes face
It’s time to nerf open the waygate. What is this
Lookin' good, Big Mage.
Only one of these cards is for big mage, and it's losing a whole lot more than it's gaining.
Lightshow gonna end up making some kind of OTK Arcane Mage deck in Standard or OTK Quest Mage in Wild again.... Can they stop printing cards that deal dmg directly to the enemy's face and push on minions for board control only?
Rewind looks soooo good in infinite turn mage instead of ETC
Well, i'm not gonna have fun playing Mage this expansion
Where are all the big spells? I was told in the dj manastorm comments that I wasn't allowed to say that it was a bad card since almost all big spells were rotating, and I needed to wait until all the new big spells were revealed to say it was bad. So, where are the big spells?
5 mana or less is considered big spell in today Hearthstone 2023 and forward....
Not sure about Lightshow, but the other cards are great regardless.
I don’t know if this has happened with another card before. But as far as I can think of, Lightshow is the point where we’ve finally reached where “random” is implied rather than stated in card text because we’re so used to it. Saves space for other text on the card at least.
Between Rewind and Volume Up, Lightshow should turn into a fairly good card. Could easily play four or five of these per game with all the discover and the smaller pool of cards.
"Discover a copy" is the worst form of discover, and discover itself is one of the worst mechanics in the game ("discover something that didn't start in your deck" is the best version of discover).
This game has two levels of simple strategy: deck building before play and anticipating moves during play. Discover makes the latter of these almost nonexistent.
its better to discover cards that are in your deck because they are good. otherwise you wouldnt put them in there
Sound like such a Hipster. Personally, I am still in withdrawals from the dopamine high I got when Renew and Palm Reading were in standard. Let me waste all my mana using discover cards to generate more discover cards while achieving nothing and I will lose with a goddamm smile on my face.
Uh, yeah, it's way better to discover cards that are in your deck. That's why it's problematic. There was a time, a long time ago, when you knew your opponent only had two copies of each card. It allowed for more strategic gameplay.
Clearly, mine is an unpopular opinion, but discover has not been good for this game. I'd love to see it replace with just "add a random spell to your hand" or "discover a card that didn't start in your deck", but I'd even be happy if legendaries were removed from discover pools.
lol this is hearthstone, you take it too seriously
I partially agree with the guy, in the sense that too many discoveries are detrimental to the strategy part of the game. In the same way that too much randomness is.
But like in all long-lived games, I either swim with it or just get out and move on. Complaining about good old times won't bring them back.
Excuse me, but how do you choose the card discovered?
Randomly?
Or just based on its value?
Or based on what your opponent plays/could play?
Mmhh.... that is exactly "anticipate moves during the game."
Or if you want to look at it another way it's sort of deckbuilding after the game starts.
Which let's face it, 95% of matches happen between decks that you find on online databases.
Discover is a mechanic that rewards quality play, the exact opposite of randomly generated cards. Clearly, the powerlevel of cards with discover is higher on average, and it certainly is even at the same effect/cost.
Generally the choices, which are implicit in the mechanics, reward the better player. If the choices in some cases are unbalanced, and thus the "forced pick" happens, the problem is not with the mechanics per se, it is partly physiological and partly attributable to the overall design.
Moreover, inherently, cards with discover allow more flexibility, thus allowing for changes in approach to the specific MU or even allowing for strategies that are less likely to work , at least at not very high levels, with meme decks allowed by the solidity and flexibility given by these cards.
