25.4.3 Patch Notes - Constructed, Battlegrounds & Duels Balance Changes
Blizzard just published Patch Notes 25.4.3 featuring Constructed, Battlegrounds & Duels balance changes, and a few bug fixes! Check out the details yourself!
Quote from BlizzardPatch 25.4.3 is a data-only patch launching March 2 with the following updates.
Hearthstone Card Updates
Dev Comment: Overall, this is a little bit of a lighter patch for Standard. We just had a big infusion of cards with the mini-set, so this patch is just looking to address two major outliers after that card infusion. We’re excited to see where the mini-set lands after these adjustments.
For Wild, we’ve been discussing potential updates to the mode. In this patch, we’re making changes to help curb some of the mode’s negative play experiences. We don’t view these changes as exhaustive, but we are working on some more long-term updates that we’re excited to share once they are more solidified.
Construct Quarter
- Old: [3 Mana]
- New: [4 Mana]
- Dev Comment: Frost Death Knight is the best deck in Standard after the mini-set and Construct Quarter is the stand-out card in that deck and in other Death Knight decks. This change is both an acknowledgment of the strongest deck in the format and the strongest card in that deck.
Goldshire Gnoll
- Old: [10 Mana]
- New: [11 Mana]
- Dev Comment: Before the rise of Frost Death Knight, Evolve Shaman was the biggest outlier in the format. This change is to keep Evolve Shaman in line after the adjustment to Construct Quarter. Goldshire Gnoll is an important enabler for the deck’s bad play patterns, and this makes those play patterns slower and less powerful, while still allowing Evolve Shaman to play with the exciting new cards they got in the mini-set.
Grey Sage Parrot
- Old: Battlecry: Repeat the last spell you’ve cast that costs (5) or more.
- New: Battlecry: Repeat the last spell you’ve cast that costs (6) or more.
Spectral Pillager
- Old: [6 Mana] Combo: Deal damage equal to the number of other cards you’ve played this turn.
- New: [5 Mana] Combo: Deal 2 damage to a minion for each other card you’ve played this turn.
Cataclysm
- Old: [4 Mana] Destroy all minions. Discard your hand.
- New: [5 Mana] Destroy all minions. Discard 2 cards.
The above cards will be eligible for a full dust refund for two weeks following Patch 25.4.3.

- [Hearthstone] Added the “Mech” tag to The The Purator.
- [Duels] Fixed a bug where Ironweave Bloodletter would heal whenever either player spent Corpses.
- [Collection] Removed reference to Diamond Zephrys the Great from Achievements. He will return—and be able to be earned—once he’s ready.
Thanks for giving Even DK even more fuel it didn't need in Wild. That change was long overdue. The verbiage on Time Warp is going to become a meta presence again. And again. Way to avoid addressing the elephant in the room. So it's a bigger and beefier Prize Plunderer now? Discard & Mechathun are reeling from that one but it hardly matters. Warlock will find a way to be a meta presence solely because of Life Tap.
tl;dr:
Keep hammering my point with down votes. I'll still be right when Time Warp continues to be a problem due to the verbiage on the card and Warlock finds ways to break the game.
XD
After nerfs:
Shaman evolded 11(!) mana Gnoll with that discover spell and got 10 mana 8/8 rush windfury
Srsly, u dont need to be good at math to recognize there's something not ok
Lol just yesterday I was thinking about how cool Hammul was and that they should bring it back
wishes do come true
Might as well have said "Spectral Pillager deleted from the game"
Gnoll won't be played anymore.
Cataclysm is now almost...playable?...in its current form as an actual control tool in a discard type deck rather than a cheese tool. If only they had released it this way when it was actually in standard.
Construct Quarter is still probably overpowered!
Parrot is changed instead of addressing the core problem.
Congrats on the most useless nerf in the history of hearthstone. Construct quarter at 4 mana is the same bullshit as ever. Why they just didn't made it "transform"?
It's impossible to beat frost DK if you dont play a deck that can recover at least 15 of the damage they did or you are dead turn 7.
I think warlock should have received a nerf as well. They can cheat out Chaddius early, with the slime, in much the same manner as shaman.
Chad Warlock is what's called a "scam deck", meaning it works, except when it doesn't and then Warlock just dies. It's already very slow and inconsistent deck with some really bad matchups, so it can't be considered good by any means. Making it even slower or less consistent or less "scammy" would definitely kill it.
Still, I understand the dislike for Chad Warlock, as I don't like scam decks myself. At the same time, I believe that the discussion should not be about whether or not this deck should exist, but rather whether this type of decks should be allowed in HS. If so, then there's no issue. If not, Evolve Shaman, Miracle Rogue, Ramp Druid (especially the combo version), Big Spell / Cassino Mage and any other deck based on cheating huge amounts of mana or value should also be removed from the game. You can't just kill one random deck and say problem solved.
6 mana pyroblast with a 5/5 body is much more of a problem than the location imo. That thing should be 8 mana.
Really, Marrow Manipulator is your target now? Don't have an empty board. Because the turn after you'll be eating Frostwyrm's Fury anyways, so what's your plan, waiting until after two rounds of that have gone by and then dumping minions? You pretty much have to go into turns 6-8 with some significant board presence in that matchup.
Edited bit: Love the downvotes without anyone addressing my points: The turn-by-turn of that deck is the issue, not one card that ONLY RECENTLY got one anyone's radar as a problem.
To be fair, Construct Quarter is often the reason why you can't hold any board against Aggro Frost DK. A free 4/5 with rush allows him to make some really good value trades and keep up the pressure by forcing you to defend (removals, healing, armor) instead of playing minions. He can also empty your board quite easily and then play Marrow Manipulator in your face in the same turn.
not dead, soulbound ashtongue +silas , just got otk from 32 health on turn 6
I don't know how soulbound ashetongue interacts with double-battlecry, but I wouldn't bet on silas darkmoon pillager rogue topping the wild ladder
Finally Gnoll nerf. Good
I'm ok with shaman not summoning a 10 drop in turn 2, but maybe now every 10 drop after evolving instead of "healing", it will become a weak 5/4
The changes they keep doing to Grease Bot are hilarious. Now it's almost back to previous iteration that was oppressive. Every time the meta changes they have to change it and Toxfin since both seem to be problematic.
The difference now is that we have undead who absolutely wreck DS builds. It's so lopsided it's basically an auto win for the undead.
Yea sure, but not every lobby has Undead and they need the high end Tier 5 and 6 cards to pull it off.
Sure they need to be in the lobby but reborn is the natural counter to DS. Just a few of them are enough even lower tier. Fortunately we are in a meta where if you don't race to 5-6 you will lose so getting high tier minions shouldn't bean issue either.
