25.0.3 Patch Notes - Balance Changes For Constructed & Sire Denathrius Obtainability Change
Blizzard just published Patch Notes 24.6.2 featuring Constructed balance changes as well as Sire Denathrius obtainability change.
Added Change
(This is not the final solve for this interaction, still temporary, just better to leave it this way instead of totally banned for the moment. Hoping to get a more final fix out next week that preserves both cards' functionality, without going infinite.)

Quote from BlizzardPatch 25.0.3 is a data-only patch going live today with updates to two Standard cards.
Card Updates
Dev Comment: We set up this balance window to address any changes we wanted to make immediately after the expansion launched. Shockspitter is exactly that type of card, ending games sooner, more easily, and more consistently than we intended. Sire Denathrius is a card we have had our eyes on for some time, but we wanted to see how he performed in the new expansion first. With a couple days of data, we can see that it is still a very popular and polarizing card, warping early meta development in a way we want to address before the World Championship (December 16-18).
This balance update was reserved for only the most standout cards immediately after expansion unlock. We’ll continue to keep our eye on how the metagame develops and make any further adjustments needed in our next balance window, reserved for a few weeks from now.
Sire Denathrius
- Old: Lifesteal. Battlecry: Deal 5 damage amongst enemies. Endlessly Infuse (1): Deal 1 more.
- New: Lifesteal. Battlecry: Deal 5 damage amongst enemies. Endlessly Infuse (2): Deal 1 more.
Shockspitter
- Old: [Costs 2]
- New: [Costs 3]
The above craftable cards will be eligible for a full dust refund for two weeks following Patch 25.0.3. As a reminder, regular Sire Denathrius was a free card and can’t be crafted or disenchanted.
Other Hearthstone Updates
- Players who did not receive the uncraftable Legendary Sire Denathrius last expansion cycle will now be granted it upon opening their first Murder at Castle Nathria pack (along with Prince Renathal, which is already obtained in that way). It will be removed from the “Long Live the King” Achievement in a future patch to complete this swap over. As this is a grant of an uncraftable Legendary, there is no gameplay impact for any players who unlock him two different ways during that time period.

It was always uncraftable.
It's almost like Blizzard is a publicly traded business with shareholder they are responsible to. Their responsibility is to make profits, or else they're violating their fiduciary responsibility
Am i only one that see denathrius infuse 1 Still? Thought its visual Bug bug but i keep trading one Minion and its infuse
Oh God, please no
It starts out at 2. then one minion dies it will read 1 on the card text. if you kill another minion it will go back up to 2.
Patchwerk is really killing the fun these days. It is the worst card ever happened to Hearthstone.
I dont get it - they (rightly) nerf Denathrius and at the same time print Astalor Bloodsworn. I know he doesn't have lifesteal, but he also doesn't need to infuse and has some use early game. Obviously he's also busted with Brann, who at this stage is becoming a joke of a card. Blizz don't even need to refund for Brann, so why not just get rid of him again?
I feel like Blizz are trolling us at this point...
Why is no one talking about Disco warlock in Wild? This deck is insane. You are dead by Turn 3 from a 12/11 Tiny Knight(s) of Evil, along with 30+ damage from Soul Barrage, Fist of Jaraxxus and Tome Tampering. This is pure 100% OP Warlock ladies and gentlemen. Disco s**t.
Fewer people play wild than Standard, that's why you're seeing it less. But the people who are playing Wild are definitely talking about it, how could they not.
As the name says, WILD is supposed to be wild. People who don't want to see sick combinations and bullshit should not play this mode, and people who agree to it should not complain.
God bless our savior who is here to tell us when to complain about game. Alleluia.
I will quote myself. Post: https://www.hearthpwn.com/guides/9565-march-of-the-lich-king-card-list-release-date?page=2
I made this forecast the 16 November. This game is so predictable.
Now, I can forecast another nerf for Denathrius. It will still be too strong due to DK.
You were wrong though. Death Knight is not OP, and Denathrius wasn't that much stronger in Death Knight than it was in other classes, and still weaker than it was in Druid.
The meta is obviously swarmed with Death Knights because it's a new class and people want to try it out, but it's nowhere near being 50% of the meta.
That was a pretty bad prediction. DK is not op at all
A TOAST
TO MY EVERLASTING WINRATE
standard never fails to destroy a decent wild card, maybe standard shouldn't have had access to Brann in the first place.
why not make those kind of nerfs to be *Standard only*
not like ive ever seen a wild player cry rivers for nerfs, I mean, we dealt with infinite Time Warps for some time, can you imagine standard players having to deal with that ? lol, many would hang themselves
The Celestalon Tweet is about the infinite corpse generation with Patrons, not Denathrius.
They won't be re-working Denathrius.
They don’t test. They don’t find these unfortunate interactions in development and fix them before release. They. Just. Don’t. Test.
