25.0.3 Patch Notes - Balance Changes For Constructed & Sire Denathrius Obtainability Change
Blizzard just published Patch Notes 24.6.2 featuring Constructed balance changes as well as Sire Denathrius obtainability change.
Added Change
(This is not the final solve for this interaction, still temporary, just better to leave it this way instead of totally banned for the moment. Hoping to get a more final fix out next week that preserves both cards' functionality, without going infinite.)

Quote from BlizzardPatch 25.0.3 is a data-only patch going live today with updates to two Standard cards.
Card Updates
Dev Comment: We set up this balance window to address any changes we wanted to make immediately after the expansion launched. Shockspitter is exactly that type of card, ending games sooner, more easily, and more consistently than we intended. Sire Denathrius is a card we have had our eyes on for some time, but we wanted to see how he performed in the new expansion first. With a couple days of data, we can see that it is still a very popular and polarizing card, warping early meta development in a way we want to address before the World Championship (December 16-18).
This balance update was reserved for only the most standout cards immediately after expansion unlock. We’ll continue to keep our eye on how the metagame develops and make any further adjustments needed in our next balance window, reserved for a few weeks from now.
Sire Denathrius
- Old: Lifesteal. Battlecry: Deal 5 damage amongst enemies. Endlessly Infuse (1): Deal 1 more.
- New: Lifesteal. Battlecry: Deal 5 damage amongst enemies. Endlessly Infuse (2): Deal 1 more.
Shockspitter
- Old: [Costs 2]
- New: [Costs 3]
The above craftable cards will be eligible for a full dust refund for two weeks following Patch 25.0.3. As a reminder, regular Sire Denathrius was a free card and can’t be crafted or disenchanted.
Other Hearthstone Updates
- Players who did not receive the uncraftable Legendary Sire Denathrius last expansion cycle will now be granted it upon opening their first Murder at Castle Nathria pack (along with Prince Renathal, which is already obtained in that way). It will be removed from the “Long Live the King” Achievement in a future patch to complete this swap over. As this is a grant of an uncraftable Legendary, there is no gameplay impact for any players who unlock him two different ways during that time period.

It kind of slows down druid which is good. Between draws etc. it should take a bit longer to be useful in Renathal matchups. They can't play x2 Scales and game over next turn at least.
ahahaha - ForsenLaughingAtYou Hunters
ForsenLookingAtYou Ok and?
Good, but, druid be still op, rogue haven't nerf. Disco still broken in wild, 0 change. Dk still op in arena with 63%. >.<
These developers keep nerfing generic cards, thus at the same time nerfing all not problematic classes, just to avoid touching druid!? (the policy they carry on with this game is pure rubbish) especially the two mana nerf to a tech card like Theotar, the Mad Duke is pure mistake (since it's the only card that makes broken or otk combos bearable giving you hope to bust them...(tech cards are NEVER broken, they wouldn't be played if they weren't NECESSARY to make the meta healthy) they continue to listen to the complaints of chicken rank players (ie where 90% of the players are) so they going by popularity, instead of really balancing...(they continue with this desperate rubbish policy, the game is becoming increasingly unbalanced and toxic) o the lack of courage on the part of the developers who count on favoring a community of toxic kids unable to objectively analyze the problems of the game (off course a large part of the problems are also linked to the streamers who influence those kids) a strength is needed on the part of the developers (because for the moment they are pathetic)
Truth bombs!
How they didn't test the bird? Players just add weapons and copy discover, nothing special. imho only Brann was the problem with this. broken card forever...
Brann isn't broken, some battlecries have just gotten too strong/too cheap. During the League of Exlporer days, Brann was fine.
Brann is only a problem because the devs keep forgetting to playtest things. If they added a card that doubles the value of your battlecries to the game then the bare minimum you should expect is for them to release cards BALANCED AROUND such strong effect. Wild suffered from that for years (not Brann specifically tho).
Totally agree, DK is a “bad” class at launch because it does not have access to much mana cheating yet, like Druid. Its cards are strong by itself but overall for a class to be competitive in HS these days, it needs lots of mana cheating, which is exactly what Druid has right now.
I enjoy playing Blood DK decks because it reminds me of classic control decks in HS, back in the old days without much mana cheating. Imagine DK has access to both mana cheating and their strong cards right now, it will be on par with Druid for sure.
hopefully we see some changes to Druid and maybe Brann before their team go on hiatus for winter break…
Or else, we will be suffering with Druid meta for at least a month if they dont nerf it before Christmas.
DK is bad rn cuz Renathal makes everyone afraid of playing aggressive, so the only dk deck people are playing is 3B, which gets demolished by ramp druid, as all control decks do. It has nothing to do with it not having enough mana cheating, the meta just doesnt favor it rn. If there was an aggro tyrant going around, 3B DK would be tier 1 easily.
Im not talking about Aggro vs. 3B DK here. I'm saying if 3B DK wants to compete against Ramp Druid, it will need insane mana cheating like what Ramp Druid has in Standard... Imagine the impact on Ramp Druid without access to insane mana cheating and the hero card..
Wow... it took them a whole expansion to make so obvious nerf.
Do developers play warlock?
No nerf to curse mechanics
No nerf to discard mechanics
Cancer decks untouched
when you tell the truth you only get dislikes, community of toxic children (this is the real problem) TOTAL HYPOCRISY (and the developers who are aware of them, as they continue to favor them) this game is dead....(will stay just children, i.e. all those who are incapable of analyzing by themselves, so they will repeat like a parrot what they hear by hs influencers) while any adult with a brain feels insulted by this game...(rubbish politics, developers are speculating on their own community, this is leading the game to death for a long time now…...) if they continue like this, the day will come when they will only play player vs bot to give way to find a game at high ranks...(or they can develop cards and balance in a way, to avoid it (just don't listen to the community and act in a scientific way) because words are zero given that mathematics is enough to solve all hs problems...
Unlisted: Gruntled Patron has been banned from Constructed.
Probably means it'll get a nerf for the Corpse Explosion interaction.
Really surprised we had a balance patch released on a Friday though…. Good job on their team for doing such quick fix!
Just embarrassing. We had to suffer an entire expansion with busted Denathrius and they change it now? So it wasn't a problem until just now eh?
And any amount of gameplay testing would have shown shockspitter broken before release. Why was it allowed to go live?
Get Brann out of standard. Recognize your mistake.
They nerf a problem card three days after release, something that has never happened in the history of the game, and you're still complaining. Wow.
