March of the Lich King Decks - Good and Fun Decks from the Pros
As is tradition by now on HearthPwn, the first night we scour the web for lists of the best and most fun decks the pros have been playing on the day of the release. These are the best March of the Lich King decks that we found, with the common factor being that the pros had fun playing these decks. Check them out and see if you do too!
Death Knight
The new class! Everyone spent at least a few games checking out the class, especially if they had not played the class themselves yet in Theorycrafting sessions. We came across two decks for the class that seemed to come recommended. The first is a Triple Blood DK deck, that Uncorrupt piloted into the Top 300 on ladder and the second is a Frost DK deck that former Grandmaster Rdu had a lot of fun playing, and said it was inspired by Meati from the playtesting streams.

Rogue
Many people were enthousiastic about the new Concoction Rogue package, but there's rumblings among the pros that Blizz might have overshot the mark for reasonable balance. Former Grandmaster Languagehacker posted a sad Spongebob meme and commented that a lot of his excitement was snuffed out, while J.Alexander was not sad at all posting "Day 1 impressions of the set: It kicks a bit of ass" to which Meati couldn't help replying "When J is happy, you know Rogue needs a nerf". We'll leave you with 2 decks J. Alexander tweeted out, one with Maestra and Gnolls, one with Astalor Bloodsworn.

Hunter
Another popular class on ladder has been Shockspitter Hunter. Proplayer Robotwizard piloted it to Rank 1. His mulligan advice was "Hard mull for Candleshot (best card in the deck) and also Bloodseeker. Tracking is a maybe-keep as well because it's somewhat likely to get you a weapon". Former Grandmaster Lunalove joked "Didn’t have Youthful Brewmaster in a rank 1 deck on my day 1 checklist."

Druid
Speaking of Lunalove, she was having a great time on ladder herself, peaking at Rank 6 with Armor Ramp Druid. She said about this deck "I went 14-1 vs DK, so if you're looking for a deck to farm that, this is great!". She wasn't alone in her enjoyment, Firenoodle piloted his deck 15-5 to Rank 1 Legend. It is greedier than Lunalove's list adding The Jailer as a third 10 mana card.

Warlock
Some people get mischievous with the hype around Release Day. Norwis posted this Discard Warlock deck with "60 % winrate, top 5 legend on all servers. Best deck in the game, not even close " before adding "To my loyal fans, don't get baited, it was only good bcs meta wasn't set yet-was facing weaker unoptimized decks, don't craft this." But, it looks like a fun deck? So maybe if you have the cards and enjoy some Zoo Warlock shenanigans, might be worth checking out!

Rogue...But Different
Former Grandmaster Briarthorn posted the most unusual Pro deck we saw tonight. It's a Deathrattle Rogue deck that looks to abuse Masked Reveler and Invincible. If the more oppressive Rogue decks aren't your thing, then maybe this is!

March of the Lich King Card List & Expansion Guide
Learn more and see all the cards in our dedicated Card List.
Blizzard did say they were keeping an eye on Renathal, and the reason can be seen on ladder now: NO ONE WANTS TO PLAY AGGRO.
Aggro is so unpopular not even an entire new class capable of playing it (unholy dk) has sparkled anything in that direction. People simply dont want to face Renathal decks as aggro, its not fun, doesnt feel good even if the aggro wins cuz it takes too long. Lots of people play aggro to win or lose fast, Renathal doesnt allow fast wins for aggro most of the time.
This expansion also introduced a lot more dmg from hand, so the game became United in Stormwind 2: Electric Boogaloo; its just Ramp Druid (which also can deal 40+ dmg from hand btw) vs a million different flavors of combo.
The only deck that wins fast rn is Miracle Rogue, not an aggro deck.. this cant be right, and I think Renathal is the culprit behind the curtain.
I honestly feel joy whenever Aggro players are upset. Aggro players always strike me as players who are trying to finish work as soon as possible rather than actually play the game.
You're shooting yourself in the foot by thinking like that. Without aggro, combo decks just take over as theres nothing to hard counter them, control becomes a sitting duck. I prefer control over aggro, but one cant rly exist w/o the other.
With no aggro the game devolves into Solitaire, thats not what most play HS for.
Until Aggro stops rewarding players for playing cards whenever they simply glow green, I’d rather play Solitaire.
Cry more aggroo
The Hunter deck has absolutely insane high roll potential. You can OTK turn 7 in many cases.
I feel like the problem is not how much they support one specific archtype, the problem comes when they make a "new" archtype that just merges perfectly with the other. Like Spell demon Hunter is just Feel + Relics and it works perfectly because well both archtypes are exactly the same except Jace dont re-cast Relics but you has a 2 mana card that usually cant be destroyed that recast your relics whenever your need, for 0 mana. Druid, Ramp druid and the new go wide package are just the same deck. 7 mana dealth 14 damage with 2/1 rush minions "hope you dont have a card that resurrects minions that only cost 2 or less...oh right...you get it for 6 mana you can consistenly get 14 rush damage and another 7 charges for Denathrius and the other cards. "Boost the hero power" and spell Mage? They dont even stop printing arcane/fire/frost tags on the new spells to make it harder to pick between the best spells and the ones that you need for the deck...both are the same cards.
What about Warrior? OH RIGHT! the Fire spell that support self-hurt, warrior obviusly need a lot of spells cards to empower a Minion Base strategy. Priest? Choose one: you resurrect actually usefull stuff or you resurrect kind of a tempo package. Shaman? Murlocs or Overcharge or...ahm...Deathrattle? like there is 3 not even 2, but 3 totally different packages here. You can kind of merge the Deathrattle with the murlocs but you are losing so much spell on a 30 card deck and your dont want a 40 card deck in shaman for a minion-combo package.
Meh. The same classes that conquer the game over and over.
Where are Mage, Priest, Warrior, Shaman and Paladin?
Blizzard needs to learn to rotate the top tier classes every once in a while.
Seriously man, remember back when they released the Galakronds for specific classes and not the others? This feels the same, 98% of the neutral expansion cards are for undead and undead synergy for half the classes while other classes get new identifies not supported before. They do this every single time, I just don't understand their thought process in balancing the game. For the past year Paladin had 0 impact after Libram rotation and it looks like we won't for a while.
The problem is that they keep printing wildly different archetypes each expansion and rarely give any support for the old ones. The classes that take over either get a versatile legendary at some point that keeps it over the top, or they get an archetype that counters the current meta.
Look at Jace for demon hunter. As long as they keep printing fel spells, that legendary will keep being good (it's literally a powercreep broken card. If it had been printed a few years ago, it'd only cast 5 spells and be done). Now look at Kel'Thuzad for mage. It ONLY works in a skeleton deck. If skeletons are bad, then mage has 1 whole expansion that can't be used.
Warrior meanwhile, sucked last expansion since enrage sucked, and sure, blizz added more enrage support this expansion, but they dumped it into some weird ass fire package that isn't all that great. Warrior just doesn't have the fire support in previous expansions to justify this, and I doubt blizz will go out of their way to print more.
As people have pointed out in the past, back in the day, blizz would fill a class with just completely random cards in an expansion and people would assemble these into a deck. Now, they print a new archetype every expansion. You NEED to have the legendary supporting this archetype to be able to play. If it's a bad archetype, it's a dead class. The very specific archetypes rarely work with new cards. How much silver hand support did paladin get this expansion? None.
This list has only very few select decks (but some nice descriptions, I like the fluff) and as such doesn't show you the full picture really. You can compare with a fuller compilation.
Yeah like, this entire expansion centered around ARMOR cards for Druid. If they don't print more armor cards for the next 4 expansions armor Druid falls apart.
