Patchnotes Coming Thursday - Changes to Theotar, Wildseeds and Harpoon Gun Teased
The Patchnotes are coming...on Thursday! It's unclear what might be in the patch, but a few balance changes were teased already.
Quote from BlizzardPatch Notes are coming this Thursday!
Look forward to updates on cards like Theotar, the Mad Duke, Stag Spirit Wildseed, Bear Spirit Wildseed, and Harpoon Gun
So the first patch this expansion with nerfs (https://www.hearthpwn.com/news/9431-oops-blizzard-accidentally-reveals-some-balance) they confirmed the changes beforehand.
The second patch with nerfs (https://www.hearthpwn.com/news/9459-standard-balance-changes-coming-soon-might-include) they hid the changes and released them without warning.
The third patch with nerfs they mention what cards they're probably changing but not what the changes will be.
This has been a pattern for years. Sometimes they detail exactly what they're about to change. Sometimes they make these vague posts alluding to what cards will be nerfed. Sometimes they don't say anything at all and a patch with nerfs suddenly drops.
I honestly have no idea what is going on over there. The utter lack of consistency around this is inexplicable. Do they not have some sort of policy or person in charge of handling these kind of information releases?
oh poor hunterito :( ez pz :)))))
I predict:
theo to five mana
stag spirit minus one attack
bear spirit minus one health
harpoon gun minus one cost reduction
Ya hearthstone is not going to do the actual proper nerf for theo, I loved how you just implied that with out explaining why, I mean that’s how I feel at this point.
I very much like the idea of Theotar The Mad Duck except he steals the opponents cards rather than copying them.
Noooo, I was so close
Theotar should never have been printed. Stealing cards with no defense against it was a bad idea from the start.
There’s a defense. Don’t build an exodia deck
Your Idea would take out how many decks from the gam? geese I wonder why people are so mad, really can’t guess why.
No defense, even including Theotar himself? Theotar is just a chance to disrupt, like Dirty Rat it's not always guaranteed.
The best part is when they take your Theotar then play it as a second chance to take what they were really after.
And you're SOL.
People far underestimate how more consistent being able to discover a card from their hand is vs a card being randomly selected, a la Dirty Rat or Mutanus.
Theotar is better at getting the right card than some people realize. I see so many people get upset about losing Theotar odds while having a hand full of dupes. Theotar can't discover dupes. If the opponent has 10 cards in hand, 9 are coins and the other a Denathrius, Theotar will hit opponent's Denathrius 100% of the time.
If Theotar could discover dupes in hand it would have had a big impact on how consistent it's been. Take the example above. It would go from a 100% chance to get Denathrius to a 30% chance. A 4-card hand with 1 dupe would no longer be a 100% hit rate and a 5-card hand with 2 dupes would no longer be a 100% hit rate.
Dude, that explains so much. It's literally insane when in 2 games I stole my opponent denathrius back to back, like what the hell is that. Retarded card, I hope it gets obliterated, because it's stupid when you win thanks to him, and annoying when he steals your win condition
Lol the guy who says it’s stupid when you win with him is complaining about losing his card that’s even more stupid when you win with him.
Hunter balance was necessary according to win rates in standard format.
Theotar is not that of a problem.. maybe on 5mana would be a descent nerf.
But Guff! Oh, the mighty Guff! This card offers too many advantages related to other heroes and the 20mana buff allows Brann/Denathrius combo and many many more... I know that the community will hate me for this post, but Guff is the real problem in Druid decks and not Denathrius. Even if you want to keep the 20mana ability change the hero power in order to allow card draw only after you reach 20mana (this could be an interesting nerf).
Denathrius could also be nerfed since you can find him in almost every deck... Infuse cap should be applied.
HS team, either you like OTKs and try to develop more combos in the future, or eliminate all possible OTKs from the game.
Imo Theotar is played in virtually every deck almost entirely due to Denathrius. Which other single card has such game ending potential and is successful enough to warp a meta?
Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of good targets for Theotar, but Denathrius is definifely the first pick in most situations, and I don't think he would be played nearly as frequently if Denathrius wasn't designed the way he is.
As it stands Theotar is a 4 mana 3/3 - a huge tempo loss, "do nothing" card that still see's play in nearly every deck. If they nerf him (stat wise or cost) I think people will still play him in the current meta (possibly with the excpetion of the fastest of aggro decks).
I have zero confidence that Blizzard won't nerf Theotar so badly that it becomes unplayable. Maybe they could do something like "Steal a copy of a card in your opponent's deck. Shuffle their copy back into their deck." That would still be a quasi-disrupt (which is the whole point of the card) without the whiners necessarily complaining (though they'll just move on to another "broken" card).
The point its that u remove the card, i mean im fine if they change it to shuffle un the deck so u Will delay the effect or even get a random card from enemy hand and give him one of your choice
so excited for mercs coin exchange
if this fucked up team isn't gonna nerf big priest then we know to much!
What about wild? Illuminate and Neptulon for Cancer Priest? Secret passage and Swordfish for rogue? Time warp for Infinite Turn Mage? Banning the new mini-set secret support for secret mage?
