Dean "Iksar" Ayala - Game Director for Hearthstone - Leaves Blizzard
In a shocking turn of events, and less than 3 months after he officially announced his promotion to Game Director, Dean "Iksar" Ayala is announcing his farewell from Blizzard.
His current Twitter profile says "Unemployed" but it is reasonable to suspect we will hear from Dean in another capacity, and for another company, soon enough!
From us at HearthPwn, a heartfelt "Thank you for everything!" and a hope that Dean will use his great talents as a communicator to enrich some new gaming community!
After 11 years, I am leaving Blizzard.

Hearthstone is an incredible game. To have played even a small part in its creation is an honor I'll never forget. Thank you to all the players, and a special thank you to my fellow game creators. I am proud of all we built together. pic.twitter.com/zhc0PBuOke
LOL, maybe another that was in charge to fight against the terrorism.
Guys, it was not a joke. It is true.

Activision also wrote fake news of a terrorist attack for the marketing of CoD.

Typical of Kotick to hire some Republican croney, as a means of currying influence in the party. He uses Blizzard-Activision as a political prop (e.g. Blizzard's official reaction to California's lawsuit was nothing but political rhetoric.)
This is why I've been boycotting Hearthstone. I refuse to put my hard earned money in Blizzard's coffers until Kotick is gone.
Funny how you still keep up with hearthpwn news.
Cause the liberals are angels and will save ur future XD
To reply on my own post after getting some likes... I was actually dead serious here.
Look at his post on Twitter. It's so obvious. He's posting positive stuff about the game, and players and his fellow creators but not a single positive word about Blizzard. I have no clue who will take over his role, but I have a strong feeling it'll become a "bodytype 2" because some people thought it would be the most diverse thing to go for.
Sure, you can see how well their new game goes (marvel snap) and how predatory it almost became. Yea, thanks to your lovely ben brode. Him leaving HS was a good thing. He should've left earlier tbh.
Unfortunately, Dean's idea of a good design made the game become more and more obnoxious. I'm glad he left. Good riddance. Now i'm waiting for some the other "designers" to leave. Hope they never work on a card game again, and if they do i'm surely not gonna be playing it.
Maybe the next director will announce working on HS 2.0, with a focus on f2p quality and no more powercreeping every time.
Absolutely agree. When you look at HS years ago Vs HS of today.. it's like every expansion is designed with a broken card. Look at Smite, Sire Denathrius. HS's development team needs to be replaced honestly.
Every expansion had a broken card friend. Naxx had undertaker, GvG: Dr. Boom, Black rock: Thaurisan, TgT: Mysterious challenger, LoE:: Reno + Tunnel Trogg (remember shaman stone?). I can go on
But! Ben Brode really like to make shitty cards thou. Gladly a whole expansion of trash cards + 3-6 insane ones.
The cards you listed aren't drop this and win the same turn cards. Actually, each and every card you listed is an example of a good card where you fight for the board and have a chance to react and play... Smite and Denathrius are OTK enablers.
I must suffer from some eye illness, because I cannot see "OTK" written anywhere in the post I commented on. I saw "broken" which I assumed meant overpowered and then listed cards that where so overpowered when they where released, that sire Denathrius looks like a bad tech card in comparison. I'll cut Reno from the list thou. He neither got nerfed after a week or dominated the meta. The OP cards that people complain about in this expansion, are really nothing compared to the few outliers that we had during the Brode era...
honestly hearthstone has gone downhill since Ben Brode left…
My exact thoughts.
Possibly, but do you remember how everyone back then was hating on Brode and Team 5, shouting out how incompetent they were, how slowly they were nerfing, and everybody was calling for their resignations? Thruth is the designers have to comply to a big extent to what sales/monetization and the higher-ups dictate, so their hands are more or less tied in terms of design.
and that wasn't even the most challenging part yet. Laddering itself was the most painful pain in the ass. Getting from Rank 5 to Legend was infinitely harder back then than it is today.
Exactly. Legend actually ment something. Today everyones legend rank now.

That escalated quickly.
Yeah, i agree with that. Not only Stormwind was bad, same as alterrac they did not bring a single new thing in the game, just more quests and more heroes that can never been balanced due their own nature of changing the whole game after being played. So they are either terrible, like druid`s quest, or had to be banned in wild , like warlock or nerfed 2 times like hunter and warrior, and still be broken if completed. Same goes with heroes, both the old and the new ones. At least the past 2 expansions we got really cool new things, like colossals or locations, that we had never seen something similar in the whole game`s history.
Iskar was the lead of design of Stormwind. He was removed from that position and became director later. He was directly responsible for the stuff you said was bad.
