Format

Day 1

This tournament was played with the 16 eligible players divided into 2 Lobbies, A and B. On Day 1 three games were played in each Lobby, with a simple scoring system, ranging from 7 points from first place to 0 points for last place, with the rest of the rules the same as you would find in any other Lobby in Hearthstone. The first 4 players in the standings after 3 games in each Lobby make it through to the Top 8 on Day 2.

Day 2

In the Top 8 on Day 2 was played in the so called "Check Format". What this means is that the players get points for their ranks in each game, just like on Day 1. Instead of capping off after 3 games however, the point total is counted up to 20 points, which is the "Check" point.

After the moment a players gets 20 points their goal is to end as a winner in 1 Game, which secures them the victory. So getting a first place before hitting 20 points does nothing. This means several players can end up with 20 points, and that multiple games might have to be played to decide a winner and that the first player to 20 might not end up the winner, if they cannot secure a first place finish afterwards.

Results

The Lobby was in Check after the 4th game already, but it took a further 4 games for someone to claim victory, never seen before in Lobby Legends! It was Ribapusa who put the Lobby in Check first, followed next game by SeseiSei and AlexJP. These 3 players kept going back and forth, knocking on the door and sometimes getting close, but never quite getting there in the 5th and 6th games.

In the 7th game it looked like it might finally happen, with Ribapusa and AlexJP battling with blyunchang and Xixo to take the win, but they still couldn't get it done, with Xixo ending up winning the game and putting the lobby in Check now too. At this point all but 2 players had the Lobby in Check, an incredible outcome, in a clearly very competitive field.

In the final game of the day the eventual winner had to scam out not 1 but 2 Leeroy the Reckless from a Ghastcoiler to kill off enough minions, to JUST survive on 2 health in the middle rounds. But having survived he started snowballing and claimed some more unlikely victories along the way. It was Rimgosu who made these plays and he who claimed the victory and with it, the title of Lobby Legends: Magic of Azeroth Champion!

Final Standings

Final Thoughts

After last Lobby Legends had already been a tense affair, this one put it to shame. If you have the time, it is definitely worth watching these, because the quality of play and tension are an amazing and unique part to this Lobby Legends series! There will be more Lobby Legends to come, so we hope to see you again for those, as of yet unnamed, Tournaments!

In the meantime, let us know your thoughts about this official Battlegrounds tournament in the comments!
