Standard Balance Changes Coming Soon - Might Include Neutral Cards!
Blizzard dev Aleco tweeted Monday night that more Balance changes are on the horizon. Read his comments below.
Quote from BlizzardWe're going to be making some Standard balance adjustments soon. Next patch will likely be more nerf focused than the previous one and might include some neutral cards.
We'll be locking in our changes this Friday, and the patch will go live ~1 week after that.
it is friday?????????????????????????????????????????????????
Try logging in after 12 am the changes go live after noon, Hearthpwn hasn’t seemed to have posted anything yet but I saw the changes when I logged in this afternoon.
Imagine not having guff in hand by turn 5 lul,gitgud
Sooo... any news? It's Saturday already and there is still no info about upcoming nerfs...

Idk why you have wasted your time writing this. I have eyes, I can see that line myself,
The balance changes come out today from my understanding of this. Unless It is next Friday? Any News.
Nerf Theotar? Don't you folks like counterplay? I guess you could change his stats or mana cost. But, will either of those things matter much? I think if he's a 0/1 and costs 1 more mana you still might play him, as it's the effect you are really wanting, not the body. And the mana isn't terribly important either.
I think it might be better to accept that the game has ways of punishing you for playing combo other than smorc. And that's totally fine to me.
In fact, un-nerf Illucia. That was uncalled for.
I do like counterplays. What I don't like is a jack of all trades as a single card for everyone for free. Illucia at least was just for priests. And it died for the same reason. Too disruptive without a downside. Reno counters aggro decks, ok, but it requires you to build a deck of singletons. You shouldn't be able to just shove it in any deck if it counters so many archetypes. Dunno, make it incompatible with Renathal or something.
TL;DR Archetypes should be counter by archetypes, not by a single card.
imo:
- 3/3 naga from druid to +1/+2 --> +1/+1
- theodar 4 mana --> 5 mana
- guff 5 mana--> 7 mana
- taelan 3/3 --> 3/2
Theotar - change cards untill next turn
What I want:
1) A major nerf for denathrius
2) Increase the mana cost of Theotar
3) Increase the mana cost of Guff
And I will be happy.
out of curiosity... you're playing a mage, right?
Let's see what the Copium-department will come up next. Maybe buff rogue some more and make their location 0 mana, or buff Guff to always be in opening hand. I mean it can't get much worse than the meta they've created right now, so let's go totally nuts while we're at it.
It's not. The only decks that have more than one wincon are already T1. Theotar keeps potential (midrange, control and combo) challengers down, it further separates the decks that can afford to play it (because they're so good already) from the rest. That cannot be healthy.
Agreed. It is not healthy at all. Just watch the last weekend's Grand Masters series. So many matches were decided by that card, it got ridiculous. That cannot be a good sign.
The card is healthy. But it's not fun to play against. That's just how disruption works. Disruption is never fun for the one that doesn't plays it.
I agree with @FortyDust, having a way of punishing 1-wincon decks is healthy. What counter do you have against Denatrius then, other than Sm0rC? What I think it's unhealthy is that these kind of decks the only possible counter is going full agro, which is basically how Hearthstone has ever worked before cards like this.
I also think the card is not unhealthy, and in order for it to exceed it needs (most of the time) good hand reading, so it's fun.
For me the problem really is its cost. I think being that easy to steal a win condition should cost more than 4 mana, especially with Brann or Macaw for a total of 7 mana.
Mutanus the Devourer?
Blademaster Okani?
Yeah I may agree with that part, 4 mana is too little. Not 7 mana like Mutanus though, I feel that in so many decks that's always too late.
5 mana 4/4 would probably be okay.
