Oops? Blizzard Accidentally Reveals Some Balance Changes And Then Confirms Them
Blizzard accidentally pushed a patch live partially in Korea that had many of the Balance changes coming next week. Here's their reaction to this faux-pas.
Quote from BlizzardDue to a small oopsy-doopsy, a patch planned for next Tuesday was partially pushed early. Some clever sleuths were able to spot a handful of card changes before things were reverted, and I can confirm that the changes seen on live are accurate.
But, there's much more!
Quote from BlizzardWe're doing a small number of nerfs this patch.
- Vile Library loses the base +1/+1
- Stag Spirit Wildseed will make a 3/2 weapon Stagpoint Wildbow
- Snowfall Guardian becomes base 5/5 but no longer grows based on minions frozen
- Celestial Alignment will no longer affect the opponent
Quote from BlizzardIn Wild, Kobold Illusionist will cost 5 mana.
In addition to these nerfs, we're also doing a substantial number of buffs! Some of these have already been discoveredbut the majority of these buffs were likely not spotted.
- Edwin, Defias Kingpin will be a 3 mana 3/3
- Relic Vault to 2 mana
Quote from BlizzardFor the rest of the buffs, stay tuned for the patch notes early next week🙂Paladin, Demon Hunter, and Warrior fans should have a lot to look forward to.
I hope you all enjoyed our impromptu "preview"!
Kael'thas and From the Depths are not getting changed this patch.

Parrot is not the main problem there clearly
Yes it it. With that logic Kobold Illusionist wasnt the problem of big rogue either, but it was the enabler. Same goes for the Parrot.
Make it recast Spells the cost 6 or higher and the shenanigans stop abusing skipping turns wich is the most unfun deck ive seen ever. Against aggro you at least have the chance to interact with.
Quest mage indeed, need a nerf. Change the parrot to something like - if u have cast a frozen spell last turn gain 8 armor. or just delete the quest mage to not give any additional turns anymore.
I suggested a nerf like that to Guardian months ago (March - admittedly I made him a 5/6). Doesn't kill the card completely (still a board wide freeze) but takes away some of the awfulness of the repeat casting with the bird. It's now more of a stall than a stand alone win condition, with I think is fine.
To be honest - the freeze mechanic is being far too heavily used imo. You shouldn't be locked down on board for multiple turns - it's just no fun. Mage and shaman are basically just freezefest - minions being ignored because they can do nothing.
There's a common card that unfrozen minions and it's neutral!!!! Sadly is a wild card
I was hoping for a Dawngrasp revert but well, we all know what a famous HS developer like to play... Pretty decent nerfs still.
Snowfall Guardian nerf is nice, shaman was too boring with it (+parrot, + shuder). If you have no removal, just end turn til you die from max hp
Not nearly enough is being done to address Hunter. Its power levels are insane due to the wildseed package.
Dunno about the Vile Library nerf... It's basically going from my previous comment about an 8/7 [deck]Flame Imp[/deck] on turn 3-4 to a 7/6 which is still pretty disgusting.
Celestial Alignment... The few times I've played it intentionally against an opponent is when they've got a lot of cards in their hand or have obvious things like battlecry cards that do things like Grey Sage Parrot or Corrupt minions where they're no longer getting corrupted. Vast majority of the time it's used to set up combos that become game breaking like the ol' 30something Sire Denathrius getting twice the sippage from Brann Bronzebeard.
That -1/-1 means that now you can trade it with 2x3/2 or 2x3/4 (4 or 6 mana), while before it required 1 additional mana to do it so because of the additional health. Also, 6 health is easily cleared by control decks in turn 4. You have lots of ways to do it.
That’s huge in the mana curve. If you had a board, you’re more likely to be able to trade the big boy. Now we had too many scenarios were you weren’t able to trade it.
I don't know if I'd even call that a nerf for CA, at least not in this Standard meta. Oftentimes I have to hold back on casting it because I have to kill the opponent in the next turn, or they'll have 2 mana and can do Brann/Bolner + KT/Denathrius. Now It can be cast without worrying about that.
Snowfall was hit hard, especially since it no longer works well with Battlecry synergies. I was expecting something more like a mana cost increase. This might honestly put Shaman in the gutter since it was their only good option for dealing with big boards.
Vile Library was barely hit. I hope there are some additional nerfs to Implock or that deck will remain T1, probably even more so now with Snowfall so heavily nerfed.
Stag nerf is fine. I didn't feel like Hunter was that out of line, but I'll never disagree with aggro nerfs.
Edwin is a very weird buff, and a very tiny one. Wonder if there will be more help for Rogue.
Relic buff is very much needed, that deck is atrociously bad.
What do you mean? Snow fall still deal with the board. It just doesn't win you the game for free anymore.
"Paladin, Demon Hunter, and Warrior fans should have a lot to look forward to."
Yes, my body is ready! I honestly don't know what they could buff in Paladin lol, maybe The Countess to 6 6/6? Divine Toll to shoot more rays or maybe reduced to 5 mana o.o?
Yes casual 5 mana +10/+10
I mean, Warlock has casual 2 mana +5/5 or +6/6
Also that's quite a significant Blow to Freeze / Control Shaman, not entirely setting it back to Dumpster Tier territory, but definetly dropping out of Tier 1 with one of the primary Win Conditions basically removed from the equation.
Good changes, let's hope macaw get hit hard too
why?they literaly destroyed the card, the entire point of it was to lock the oponent out of being able to play anything
Card isn't murdered, but actually healthy to play against now. Druid's can still do their combo shenanigans like Mecha'thun now instead of playing an 8 mana "I win".
It's still useful, but only if you got both Brann and Denathrius in hand. Yea card got nearly annihilated, now it's not even about taking advantage, it's a mere combo / OTK tool.
