Quote from BlizzardThe Shadowlands is normally where souls go after they die, so when someone dies in the Shadowlands, that’s a special kind of mystery. Sire Denathrius invited 10 of his counterparts and enemies to Castle Nathria for a dinner party so that he could address the malicious rumors that he is hoarding anima, the life-energy that is drained from tortured souls and used to power the Shadowlands. But just after the festivities started, Sire Denathrius was found dead! It seems a gaggle of enemies does not a good dinner party make. Now the illustrious Murloc Holmes, and his trusty sidekick Watfin, have been called to solve the case. Scour new Location cards, follow the trail of Infused minions, question the 10 Legendary suspects, and help determine who committed Murder at Castle Nathria!
Murder at Castle Nathria will launch worldwide on August 2 with 135 new collectible cards! You can find the full Murder at Castle Nathria reveal schedule, and all cards that have already been revealed, by visiting the card library here. Check back frequently—the list will be updated with new cards as they’re revealed!
Ten Suspicious Suspects
Sire Denathrius had a lot of enemies. And it just so happens that 10 of them were under his roof at the time of his demise! Each class will have a Legendary minion that is a prime suspect in Sire Denathrius’s murder. They all have the means and the motive, but it is up to you and Murloc Holmes to determine who is guilty.
New Keyword: Infuse
Anima, drawn from wayward souls, powers all the Shadowlands—and those who consume it! Cards with the Infuse keyword sit in your hand and absorb anima from your friendly minions as they die. After the specified number of friendly minions die while the Infuse card is in your hand, the Infuse card transforms into a more powerful version. Infuse your cards to unlock their full power!
New Card Type: Locations
Castle Nathria is like no place Hearthstone has ever been before. Explore the castle grounds through the all-new Location card type! Locations are played onto the battlefield for an initial cost, and then have an ability that can be activated for free on your turns, each time for a powerful effect. Each activation costs 1 Durability and has a 1-turn Cooldown. Every class gets their own Location card in Castle Nathria which represents where they claim their suspect was at the time of the murder, and synergizes with the themes of the class.

Non-reno decks might actually make good use of it. 9 more cards (let's not forget, renathal takes a slot) mean they can fit in a couple needed tech cards and stuff they won't normally be able to fit in (like more draw cards and the like). Reno decks wont like this tho.
But fitting more tech means making it more likely to draw tech after tech that maybe you don't even need against a specific opponent.
Infuse really feels like its only going to be used in zoo decks, which is probably the best type of deck for Commander Ulthok. Just already I'm feeling like that's gonna be a sturdy archetype this expansion.
Locations are nice, will probably see more play than I expect simply for the free activation once it's down, making much easier and nicer curve plays.
But more importantly, I actually somewhat predicted Kel Thuzad's return this expansion!... So that's nice...
I've been wanting 40 health and 40 cards for a long time.
But for some reason now that it's here I don't want it.
You don't want it because you'll be playing against 30-card decks. They'll have no trouble dealing an extra 10 damage before your 40-card plan comes together.
Pretty much. If everyone had 40 health and 40 cards I'd be happier.
Prince Renathal isn't that good of a card but it does look fun
Prince Renathal is going to be auto-include in all decks that aren't fast or aggro. People have been asking for hp to move to 40 lately since powercreep is starting to get out of control (Yugioh increased life points ages ago). Plus there's a lot of deck that want more cards than can currently fit I know in wild, shudderwok shaman is going to include this.
Adding 10 cards to your deck still isn't that good. Even in control.
yugioh has never increased the starting life points
Evolve is back for shaman.
great...
My same thought, but in standard, it'll need some support. The problem with evolve last time it was meta was Desert Hare allowed 9-12 mana worth of stats for 3 mana.
We have the 2/1 murloc that does something similar now tho
Murder in a children's card game?
Calm down dude.
Interesting how these "locations" are very similar to those in Ben Brode's game... just adapted a bit to HS.
Probably another mechanic that sticks around for the next 2-3 sets and then dies out.
They seem like a thing they might use more often? Conversely they might just be like heroes where they print them when they feel like it.
How are they even remotely similar?
In Snap each game has 3 location of which you have to capture 2 (by playing cards there) to win the game after 6 turns. At the first 3 turns one of the location gets revealed and they either have a passive or one time effect
Here locations must be drawn and played at a cost. All of them have active effect that can only be used a limited ammount of time and have a one turn cooldown between uses. The only thing they have in common is that they feature locations in their artwork and that it's harder to interact with them (with other cards). Both of which is fairly standard stuff in most card games.
indeed, the only common thing is the name 'location'.
Expansion-specific mechanisms are explicitly intended to have a short life span. They don't fade away because they failed somehow. They are phased out to keep the game from getting stale.
And no, apart from the name, these locations have absolutely nothing in common with Marvel Snap's locations. They could not be more different.
