Patch Tomorrow - Stormscale Siren Removed in BG
Blizzard acknowledges that Stormscale Siren with Athissa resulted in warbands that got too big, too quickly and is going to replace Siren with Warden of Old (with a Naga tag!).
Quote from BlizzardWe are releasing a server-side hotfix tomorrow that addresses some server-side issues and also includes the following changes to Battlegrounds:
The minion Stormscale Siren will be removed from the minion pool.
The minion Warden of Old will be returned to the minion pool at Tier 3 (now with the Naga minion type).
Dev Comment: The combination of Stormscale Siren and Tidemistress Athissa resulted in Naga warbands that scaled too large, too quickly. We’ll be playtesting changes to Stormscale Siren internally, in hopes that we can find a version that we’d be happy returning to the minion pool in a future patch.
We honestly need some heroes buffs/rework + minions removed/reworked , as a casual player this mode became so bad with this no brain decisions and is not as fun as it was a couple yrs ago
Watch out bro, you're starting to make sense and that's illegal
The lesson to Blizzard here is, don't push your new content so hard that people are sick of it before you've given yourself a chance to tune it. I'm betting without this card that naga's are essentially crippled. And frankly at this point I don't care, along with damn near everyone else who play lots of BGs because we're sick of lobbies where 6 of 8 players are trying Nagas. With so many players chasing the same cards it becomes a straight RNG clownfiesta, and there is always one who highrolls based on pure luck. Not a fun time.
Maybe adress what Leeroy has done to mechs? Why did they nerf murlocs and quillboar with the last patch? ...where did the data to justify that come from when no one was playing anything but nagas?
Please remove the Naga in every game thing. It's so boring
They already did.
Atissa should now be returned to buff 4 random nagas. Without it, the scaling is too bad. You might as well play with nagas on T4/5 now with brutes being your main carry
Naga shouldn't have been as strong to begin with, I'd give them the Quilboar treatment and make them too a support / capable of endgame.
With that, quilboars weren't as oppressive prenerfs as naga are 'now' post nerfs. Siren gone is good, but the tt1s are still over the top, and snail should go to 3/x.
Snail to 3 would just kill the card. You keep it on the board for 5 turns average. That is 10 health, this doesnt win you midgame. This would be taresgosa treatment.
From 4/4 turn 3 through 4/12 turn 7 is way too much stats for a tt2. This is much like I don't get why the 5/3 quilboar and sewer rat (which is practically a 5/5) are That big.
Prime deathrattle. As long as Siren's gone, naga lobbies won't be who highrolled the combo.
Now it's gonna be who taunts this to get a huge boost. I guess I'll be 3 on 3'ing even more now.
The version I saw apparently was the golden with 2 coins. Not such a prime DR.
overkill to naga tribe after the latest balance patch it was on par with the others, this just kills it all together
Ok, they killed Nagas. Now we have 2 terrible tier 6, Athissa and Orgozoa without Siren is bad, too slow. They turned OP class in useless in two weeks.
"We’ll be playtesting changes to Stormscale Siren internally, in hopes that we can find a version that we’d be happy returning to the minion pool in a future patch."
You...weren't before?
Maybe you should playtest it internally BEFORE YOU RELEASE IT AT ALL?
That's not what they are saying.
They are saying that they are testing changes in the hope to find a better iteration of the card instead of just removing it forever.
Which means they didn't test it at all before releasing it in its current state.
The solution for stormscale is at the end of the turn trigger one random spellcaster spell, gold is two random. Put it back at tier 3, still work with Altissa and creature wrangler.a gold version is still only two althissa procs, same as warden of old.

Translation: We dun screwed up and will playtest it just like we supposedly playtested it before the Nagageddon. Expect it to return with like slightly reduced stats which we believe will totally balance it out.
Buahahahaahahahahahahahahaha. Thanks for the laugh. Here's an upvote.
One thing I've noticed that makes Naga seem very strong: all the triggers for spell casting like Athissa worked with Siren, but Athissa didn't work with anything casting Bloodshards except shards themselves. Minions that indirectly used Bloodshards like Chargla don't trigger the Naga effects. Don't get me wrong, I think it's great for balance that stuff like Athissa doesn't work with auto-cast bloodshards.
Mostly, I just wonder if Naga would have been noticeably more balanced if Stormscale Siren's effects were the same way--they didn't trigger any extra effects.
Well, moot point now.
