Patch Tomorrow - Stormscale Siren Removed in BG
Blizzard acknowledges that Stormscale Siren with Athissa resulted in warbands that got too big, too quickly and is going to replace Siren with Warden of Old (with a Naga tag!).
Quote from BlizzardWe are releasing a server-side hotfix tomorrow that addresses some server-side issues and also includes the following changes to Battlegrounds:
The minion Stormscale Siren will be removed from the minion pool.
The minion Warden of Old will be returned to the minion pool at Tier 3 (now with the Naga minion type).
Dev Comment: The combination of Stormscale Siren and Tidemistress Athissa resulted in Naga warbands that scaled too large, too quickly. We’ll be playtesting changes to Stormscale Siren internally, in hopes that we can find a version that we’d be happy returning to the minion pool in a future patch.
Charlie is the origin of the Bloodshards whereas Siren (especially after the rewording) States that you are the origin.
Way to miss the point. I know the wording is different, but even still, the mechanics of how one card functions relative to another is irrelevant.
The point isn't that they're different, I'm musing on why the devs made those choices, and how things might have gone if they weren't. When designing Stormscale Siren, they chose to craft a wording and set of mechanics that it wouldn't function like Charlga or Necrolyte, and would instead scale incredibly well with Athissa, Critter Wrangler, or Eventide Brute. Would Naga have been overpowered if they had made Siren work like Charlie?
I think there's something interesting to that question. The fact of different wording on Charlie and Siren isn't interesting to me. Mechanics work how they're programmed to work, and I honestly don't worry about it. This isn't a paper card game, where wordings have to be precise to settle disagreements between players.
YES!
Now the game is all better and all of its problems have been fixed.
Interesting patch. Looking forward to coin farming with Warden of Old. Coins work so incredibly well with Tidemistress Athissa.
