Year of the Phoenix Card Rotation - Notable Cards Rotating to Wild
With the introduction of Year of the Hydra there will also be another rotation of the older expansions. Ashes of Outland, Scholomance Academy, and Madness at the Darkmoon Faire will all be making the journey from Standard to Wild.
We’ve highlighted some more notable cards that will no longer be available in Standard. It is obviously not possible to showcase every card, but we hope that you see here a mix of both the temporary and long term great cards, as well as staple cards from various archetypes that shone during their time.
Be sure to let us know in the comments which cards were your personal favorites!
Ashes of Outland
Ashes of Outland saw the introduction of the Demon Hunter class, as well as the Prime Legendaries and the keyword Dormant. You can see the full rotating set here.

Scholomance Academy
School is in session! Scholomance Academy was the first Set to see the Spellburst keyword as well as the introduction of Dual-Class cards. The class legendaries for this set were also used as the main Heroes in the Duels game mode! You can see the full rotating set here.

Madness at the Darkmoon Faire
The Old Gods were omnipresent in the Madness at the Darkmoon Faire Set. Not only were they themselves part of the set so was the new keyword Corrupt.
This was also the first set that introduced a Mini-set as part of the card packs at a later point in the expansion's life, which is why this section is slightly bigger than the others! You can see the full rotating set here.

Press F for this set we are love you and hated 😭😭😭
I will miss the Nazmani Bloodweaver shenanigans in standard
You might be the only person that thinks that about a deck that has zero business existing in the standard format.
Rotating to the dumpster of wild.
Well, i just want to say - hah, fuck you druids.
Finally, these cards are no more.
Thank you for the article! So much dust coming in :D
many good cards are rotating out, yet many new good cards are coming in!
We're gonna be rich!
Tons of dust from disenchanting wild crap, good good.
Do we still get dust for cards that rotate from standard to wild? Used to be that golden legendaries gave 100% of dust back…i think.
Its only normal disenchanting rates for rotating cards, not full dust refunds.
They never gave us dust for rotating expansions. We got dust when they moved still usable cards from Standard to Hof - but that's no longer a thing with the Core set.
No i'm just talking about normal disenchanting every singel card which gonna rotate to wild - i dont give a damn about wild so i'm gonna dust them all.
Corrupt was a short lived Keyword
It was a 1 expansion keyword, just like reborn was and like collosal will be.
colossal could be a new keyword. Because "dredge" is the new expansion keyword. colossal could be something like lifesteal that just stays. Or like dormant from ashes.
Some questionable choices (such as Gyreworm) but this is a nice article regardless. I'd love more like these!
I guess Gyreworm ist not thaaaat~ questionable.
Aggro Elemental Shaman ist one of the most popular decks out there (in terms of Playrate and to a degree its winrate). Its cheap to craft and effective. Seen it a few times this season, in the mid/late ranks (Plat/Diamond).
Its not losing Granite Foreborn but losing Gyreworm does hit the deck. So I guess it deserves its purpose in this list. ^^
It's a balancing act. Can't list every card so you have to make choices. The choices then revolve around listing cards from every class and to try to showcase cards from most archetypes that had some impact during the set's life time, while still trying to post as amny cards that were outright meta defining.
Like, no one has played Secret Rogue in ages, but it was one of THE archetypes when it was around and Blackjack Stunner was even nerfed while it was around. That makes it a worthy include.
Metaknight136 already touched upon why Gyreworm was included. Many of the cards of Elemental Shaman are in the YotG sets, but not Gyreworm. I considered solar/Lunar ecplise (but so many druid cards already), Swordeater (but had already listed Minefield to touch upon Control Warrior), Felscream Blast (but already had Il'gynoth). I guess Cagematch Custodian would have been a similar include? but in the end went with the Neutral card over the class card.
