This is so broken. This will almost always be played for 0-2 mana.
Crazy card. You can very easily get it down to low costs. And this will synergize crazily with the legendary.
man i really hate 0 cost spells
It should have at least "not less than (1)"
In Wild this will be completely broken.
So based on this set if they really are Holy spell focused, these are some good options that might rotate back in:
Maybe a redesigned Lay on Hands with reduced cost?
Lay on hands has needed buffed for a minute. I think either 6 mana or buff the health restore to 15. Think about Healing Rain and Flash of Light, using those two as primers, I think restore 15 is reasonable
True but I actually want the cost to be reduced, that has more impact and can allow us to combo easier. I was thinking of this maybe:
I hate mana cheat cards...
It’s so good. I had to read it twice to confirm it wasn’t “for each holy spell you’ve cast this game.” As mentioned below, I do NOT like this at all with smite existing. This is easily a “0 mana 5/5 charge” most of the time.
This is a total banger of a card. Seems versatile and is something that I could see being played in Wild indefinitely.
imho is a good card to get from a card generator like Battle Vicar but won't make the cut in the initial deck
We'll see. We don't know what the slate of Holy spells will look like. With enough support, this could reliably be a 2 mana or cheaper 5/5 and Divine Shield, and that'd certainly see play. Anything which has the potential to go to 0 mana has the potential to be utterly broken, and folks love putting broken stuff in decks.
Or there could be too few useful Holy spells, and this is garbage. But we really won't know until we see the whole set.
Absolutely disgusting with both charge and windfury. For example if any minion sticks on the board, then two of these + Battlegrounds Battlemaster is at minimum 22 damage. With Mr. Smite it's 16 damage from no board, and in both cases it can cost as little as 6 mana and it leaves you with a huge threat to boot.
Even with no other minions it can be 2 mana for a 6/6 divine shield with the hero power. Unless Holy spells are absolutely garbage this rotation, this just has to see play.
Also when you play one the other copy will cost 0 because it counts towards itself
If you're holding these 3 cards in hand you're probably slow deck or you're playing midrange deck wrong.
If you're holding them playing midrange buff-paladin/agressive deck means the rest of your hand is empty and you're not developing. You must consistantly apply pressure in these kind of decks in order to not fall behind and to actually chip these dmg in vs. classes that heals or gains armor. Saving these cards in hand means you're lower on resources and not developing. It has divine shield, it migt stick if you play it on minions so I wouldn't hold it in hand.
If you're playing slower deck then 22 dmg in one turn is not a problem.
Overall I think card has nice potential but it will depend on the holy cards they print or add to the core set. I don't think this will serve as battlemaster finisher from hand, you will just play it on minions when you can and hope it will stick for a battlemaster next turn. If the holy spells will be worth it, of course.
altough the second copy will cost 0 so yeah, second copy might use for the purpose you propose, as a 5 times 2 battlemaster finisher. We will see.
Obviously I'm painting an optimistic scenario, holding cards for a 3-card combo is unrealistic in most matchups, and Paladin isn't exactly known for its crazy card draw. But even without a combo it's just straight up good if you have any board or any rush minion, granted you can get its cost down to like 4 mana. No matter how I spin it, Holy spells will have to be really crap for this to be a bad card.
Though obviously the deck as a whole could be too weak even if this card is strong in it.
with that I completly agree :-) Card seems strong but needs good suport. I have faith. Besides I'm one of those loser who likes playing bad decks and bad cards so I really don't care if it's gonna be meta, I will try it anyway. Shame it's an epic... with my 70-80 packs per expansion it will be hard to find and dust is low and so many cool legendaries ahead of us.
This holy paladin starts to make sense. And the new legendary too. Definitely.
