Mercenaries: Chi-ji Coming To Packs with Patch 22.6
The Chi-ji event in Mercenaries has ended, but for those who did not manage to get the epic Chi-Ji from the event, fear not, you can get him from packs starting with Patch 22.6!
The date for that patch is unknown at this moment, but with the expansion reveal coming next week, it is likely that the pre-order material and other things will be added through a new patch shortly after. So it is possible we might be seeing Patch 22.6 as early as next week!
Missed out on the event? Don't worry! Chi-ji will be coming to packs starting in Patch 22.6.

...There was an event?
I personally stopped. The reward and pack system for this mode doesn't fit my style. I just stick to ladder and Battlegrounds
The pack system is awful. Even the most avid Mercenaries players and ardent defenders will tell you that.
Thing is, you don't need to buy packs. I mean maybe you don't like the bounty system, but tbh if you don't like the bounty system you probably just... don't enjoy playing the game.
nobody cares
What the hell, people still play this mode?
The FS data excludes the mobile player-base - presumably, a majority of Mercs players, given that the game was designed for them. Better data could be inferred from the FS numbers if the ratio of PC vs mobile users was known for Mercs (if two, or three, or four times as many players play on mobile compared to PC, you would double, triple or quadruple the FS numbers.)
At any rate, "Blizz is letting Mercs die" doesn't seem supported by either the FS data, the recent occurrence of the Mercs in-game event and concomitant promise of future events, or common sense. GLHF.
So do you have better data?
We all know what is included and what is excluded. Your "presumably" is quite obscure to me. You are taking some data and you are making your fancy assumptions that are not written in this data.
Anyway, regarding your events, I don't have specific data but I can provide the Google trends of HS mercenaries.
So, how went your events? pretty bad. Look also how cool is this chart, It is very similar to the shape of that of Firestone. Cool right? They seem both with the same conclusion, peak in October, and then fastly to die.
Look how big was the interest in the event. February there is the rise of practically nothing. I can repeat it. Blizz is letting the mercenaries die, because they are not addressing the same issues since November, like the surplus of coins.
If you want to argue with me please do it with data.
I wonder what % of HS playerbase still plays Mercenaries?
Here is the data, which is updated to January. I am quite sure are lower now.

Blizz is letting Mercenaries die.
I'm surprised that Duels is played more than Arena... weird
the data that exclusively comes from a small and specific part (Firestone Users) of the overall playerbase? That doesn't sound like a good way to messure anything.
Plus it basically excludes the whole mobile playerbase, which was clearly in mind of the devs when designing mercs.
If you have better data we are here to check it. But as I recall for Blizz this information is top secret therefore even if it is not perfect this is the best that you can get. Anyway, things should now change a lot, more or less you can calculate the percentage in order to have a general idea.
So you rather rely on faulty data instead of just admiting that you can't make any conclusions about the playerbase? Also one of the common traids for casual players (99% of the playerbase) is that they do not care about a game outside of playing it, so trying to track them with any third party service doesn't work. Or how many candy crush moms (best example for casual players) do you think are looking up guids or installing addons?
Again this especially goes for mobile players which were clearly part of the target audience for mercs.
Well I know that data isn't the plural of anecdote, but I'd probably be one of the more avid Mercenaries players, and I easily spend twice as much time in that mode than all other modes combined. I don't use any addons whatsoever, so aside from Blizzard's own internal numbers, there's no way for my participation to be tracked.
I can't imagine myself to be the only one that fits this particular profile, so...
So many complaints against Blizzard go like, "The hype gave the impression that ... " but when you ACTUALLY READ the articles instead of just skimming headlines, you find out that everything is happening exactly the way they said it would happen, or the converse -- that no promises had ever been made, despite people's wildly unfounded and off-base assumptions.
Also, Chi-Ji is a he, not a she as this article seems to think.
People see dazzling plumage and just automatically assume gender.
Birdists.
Woops. I thought Yulon and Chi-Ji were both female, to Xuen and Niuzao's male characters of the August Celestials. I'll fix it.
Yeah, Chi-ji, Niuzao and Xuen are all male. I actually think most people assumed Chi-ji was female until the first time they heard him speak in WoW.
I actually assumed Long'xin was male, too, before heard the voice lines after acquiring her (after 60 Mercenaries packs, but I've ranted about that enough in other threads), because she's the one character in this set that -wasn't- pulled from Mists of Pandaria and seemingly made up just for Hearthstone.
Also... uhh... getting Chi Ji from the event quest is a lot easier than getting Chi Ji from packs or farming coins... and you got a lot of coins for the new Celstial mercs from doing the event too.
