Onyxia's Lair Decks - Having Fun With (Or Against!) Kazakusan
At the end of the first week in Onyxia's Lair, one thing is clear: Everyone seems to be either playing Kazakusan or making decks to counter him. So we went through the decks on HearthPwn to find the best Kazakusan decks and the best decks to counter Kazakusan. Enjoy!
Kazakusan Spell Druid
Spell Druid as a deck has been around since at least Ashes of Outland and has gone in and out of the Meta. And now it's definitely back again. Between the ramp to get enough mana and the tutoring to get Kazakusan in hand, this deck does everything right to get the Dragon out quickly. And it can even just beat you by being a Token deck too!

Face Hunter
If you are looking for random fun, I can tell you I don't have any. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you concede now, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you....

Control Dragon Priest
Kazakusan and Raid Boss Onyxia got all the hype coming out of the miniset, but the probably best bang for your buck Dragon of the set might have actually been Lightmaw Netherdrake. Where Druid easily buckles against Face Hunter, this Priest deck counters it pretty successfully.

Aggro Elemental Shaman
The solution to the question "How do I counter Kazakusan, in whatever form of deck he comes in? I hate that dragon with a passion and want nothing else but to beat decks that feature him. Every single one." is unsurprisingly that you need to play Aggro, but it's not Face Hunter that is the best overal counter, but Aggro Shaman decks.

Control Dragon Warrior
As much as there are players that love to punish slow decks with Aggro, there's Control players who love to punish Aggro with Control. This Control Warrior deck doesn't really play Kazakusan as an immediate win condition to be played as soon as possible. It uses the card much like it did Archivist Elysiana, as an end of game punisher to prolong their stranglehold on the game.

Libram Paladin
Of course, with such extremes, there's also going to be people that want to play something that doesn't have any glaring weaknesses, and can win against most decks, even if none of them are slam dunks. The trade off is that the deck is also not hugely unfavored against any decks. If you play well with Libram Paladin, you will rise.

Aggro Druid
We started with Druid, so let's end it there too. Aggro Druid is very strong right now and will get get great results against just about any deck that is not on the heavier Control side. And even then, there's going to be enough times that they just don't have an answer on time for your onslaught.

Is it just me or unless you play busted Kaz Druid or Quest Rogue everything else is just shit and nothing else works? Rock, Paper minus Scissors meta. GG as always Blizz GG.
I had fun for two or three games, then everything went to s***. No matter what I did I got beaten by a normally 50 plus mana combo of treasures on turn 8, so I turned to Aggro Priest (I've hated aggro since Hearthstone came out) and I'm winning turn 1 or 2 with two Troggs on the board and enjoying seeing Ramp Druids cry.
Boring broken busted.
Set rotation can't come soon enough.
My Greatest Creation! The Salt Mine!
These decks are very weak. You can OTK your opponent in turn 5/6 with Kazakusan, In agony because he has also to wait for you while you are playing more than 30 cards in one turn.

It is obviously a stupid broken card that requires a nerf. But as we already know, Blizz is not testing and in every release we always have issues.
Yeah, well, that's the definition of too much of a good thing. History keeps repeating itself. :-(
Kazakuzan shouldn't work when there are 0 minions in your deck, as the card text says. That would end this nonsense real quick.
Chi-ji Event Task 4 bugged?
Wow,that aggro shaman is horrible.Nothing to deal with taunts and its slow as hell.
Yup!
This meta is so fun right now. Games are more of a grind. If its not quests its something else ppl complain about loll
While the first days were at least interesting, getting destroyed by super random treasure cards is one of the least fun things I've ever experienced in Hearthstone. Count me out until there's a patch to fix this.
And no, I'm not interested in being forced to play counter decks to this RNG.
For the druid variant there is no consistent counter. Maybe, just maybe quest rogue or a faster priest if druid gets crappy draws
just play the 4 mana dude that cant attack but gives all minions plus 1/1 evrytime your opponent casts a spell.....maybe the 5 mana guy that summons 2/2 taunt.......they crush a spell heavy deck....
Any greedy druid deck gets absolutely destroyed by aggro Rogue, doens't matter if they have guff on 2 , kazakusan on 3 or whatever, they just die real badly.
Kazakusan so far as soon as it get played the opponent just concede in the upcoming turn against me and its been like that since day 1 of the mini set.
That being said, i think it's a terrible design and idea, one of the worst ever. just dumb imo.
Aggro druid, beast druid, face hunter, shadow priest, buff paladin, quest rogue. Yep, definitely no counters.
Aggro rogue? meaning? You mean quest rogue coz I already said that this works. Also I may not like fast decks :D
Yes, Aggro Stealth Rogue i just posted it recently it's an old deck that happens to be very effective right now. Might be the best Rogue deck but not many people plays that, but like enXx_36 said there is plenty of other counters.
What's your problem with fast decks? Just curious ...
I keep saying, too much of a good thing is no longer good.
If you want to counter the meta, try this :)
It's a really good deck and opponent will ''well played'' you !
