Hearthstone Mercenaries: Lunaloveee PvP Tier List - The Most OP Mercenary
At the end of the first week we have Lunaloveee's PvP Tier List, quite possibly the most OP Hearthstone Mercenary and some questions for you!
Lunaloveee PvP Tier List
We already brought you Thijs' Hearthstone Mercenaries Tier List last week, but Americas Hearthstone Grandmaster Lunaloveee came out with her best Hearthstone Mercenaries Tier List and it is markedly different, most likely shaped by a changed Meta that is slowly getting figured out and by her interactions with other top 50 players at above ~7500 rating in Americas.

The Most OP Mercenary?
The top end of Lunaloveee's Hearthstone Mercenaries Tier List seems to revolve around Mercenaries that either increase or decrease Speed. The concept of Speed Cheating, much like Mana Cheating in constructed, is very powerful because it lets you do things before your opponent has a chance to do things. And when your can act before your opponent does, his Mercs usually die. Which brings us to Cairne Bloodhoof.
Cairne's ability to speed everything up for your whole Party with his ability Endurance Aura {0} is incredibly strong, which lead Lunaloveee to comment that Cairne Bloodhoof was probably the most OP Hearthstone Mercenary. She also commented that his inclusion in basically every high level Party means it sort of turns into a coin-flip simulator with whoever gets their Endurance Aura to go off first, winning the game.
One Week In - Questions
At the end of the first week, we'd love to know your thoughts on Hearthstone Mercenaries, since the game mode was under fire in parts of the community, but seems to have had people play it a lot too once it was launched and people could play it for themselves.
Is it fun?
Pretty simple question, but sometimes simple questions have lengthy and complicated answers.
PvE or PvP?
We've found that there seems to be a divide in the Mercs community between players that play it for PvE and players that play it for PvP. This is new territory for Hearthstone since usually there's only 1 particular way to play an activity. What side are you on?
Love the Grind or Hate the Grind?
Hearthstone Mercenaries introduces the grind to the game, where you are expected to play certain Bounties a bunch of times to gather resources or to complete Tasks. Some people love to just spend an hour running the same Bounty a bunch of times and to see their work rewarded with real progress. That's not for everyone, as some people would prefer to just get the Mercs from the start and all done and just make the choices and do the Bounties as challenges. So, love the Grind or hate it?
Who starts your Party?
Everyone that plays Hearthstone Mercenaries has a favorite Mercenary. The one that you put in your Party first and then figure out the rest. So who starts your Party? Who's your favorite Mercenary so far?
Which Mercenary would you add to the game?
A lot of the Mercenaries in the game are known lore characters, and a bunch of them are the new Mercenaries we were introduced to this year as part of the Year of the Gryphon in Constructed. But, obviously more Mercenaries will be introduced, so who would you like them to add? It could be a lore figure, a minor NPC elevated to a major role, or just a set of abilities with a to-be-decided name. So who would you add?
Was hoping to read these comments and see some discussion about the tier list, which is interesting and contradicts a lot of what I have heard elsewhere and experienced.
Instead, just a bunch of people saying "I hate mercenaries" or "I like mercenaries". If you hate Mercenaries then why on earth are you opening Mercenary tier lists?!
Packs should be earnable in greater quantity within the game mode itself and they shouldnt only be 1 guaranteed legendary every 40 packs like usual, holy shit.
Dont make them cost fucking gold when gold really isnt earnable in the mode. 10 experience per pve match? Worse than nothing.
I'm a simple man, I see Xyrella tier C, I stop reading :D
She is tier C, though. She is excellent in PvE where you can see what your opponent is going to do and also at low level PvP where Xyrella + Samuro rips the unprepared to shreds, but at higher level PvP where the focus is speed manipulation, she has significantly less impact
I would say C is still a bit low for her, I'd rank her at B maybe. Having a 3 speed move to snipe that also provides utility is great but she could be dead weight against some caster teams.
Is it fun?
Still a resounding meh/eh to me the grind is extremely boring so I just grind while grinding in runescape grinding on d2r and watching youtube.
PvE or PvP?
PvE is fun the first run through on each mode having to repeatedly farm the same story over and over and over is horrendous. They should have an RNG single player mode where it's all completely random extra from the standard story. For example and rng dungeon would be like you fight starcraft one fight dragons another and diablo at the end. Would be a lot more variety and less boring than same dungeons every grind.
PVP is fun but some comps are way more powerful and you have to finish grinding completely if you really want your best team.
Love the Grind or Hate the Grind?
Hate the level of the grind because it is so repetitive make dungeons more exciting.
Who starts your Party?
Current party starter is Thrall Garrosh Saurfang with Guldan Sam and either xy or rexxar on bench.
Which Mercenary would you add to the game?
Because it is not strictly Wow you can literally add everything just throw everyone from HOTS in there for starters and then more and more from all of the different properties. Literally no reason why you cannot have like a thousand different mercs in this mode
Fun to me especially because hs was dead after bg. Need more Diablo characters like Tyrael, Mephisto, Azmodan, Malthael
I’m sorry, but after trying Mercenaries for a good while, it is absolutely the dumbest shit Hearthstone has ever released. It is boring, dull, and absolutely not entertaining at all. When the hell are these people gonna realize that we want Tournament Mode and not this shit.
Stop posting in every thread telling people what "we" want. You don't speak for anybody but yourself.
I speak for you and Youre gonna like it.
It is what we want you moron. Yes I do speak for you.
No you don't, get over yourself.
BTW, I checked your post history and you would hate 'tournament mode' because you would just get repeatedly crushed by better players.
Again it is We. I do speak for you. And Youre gonna like it. Don’t hate on me bc you suck at the game.
Is it Fun? Yes, It is laid back and simple to play
PVP or PVE? PVE, If it want to play against other people I have Standard and Wild.
Love or Hate the grind? Love it. I have played JRPGs for years and it is just what I like.
Who do I use? Just trying to level every one.
Who would I add? More Tribes so you can run 6 Mercs of every group (Murlocs, Beasts, etc.)
The problem is hearthstone interface and animations, you can already feel the age of the entire game by logging in. It would be a ok game mode if they released it on a not always online state, but as it is not only It's boring to spend on packs to get coins for stuff you dont even have you have to do it to play a game where you fell every second passing in slow motion. At the end of every match I feel like I wasted my time
Yeah somehow they've made actions and animations even more sluggish. I thought it was impossible but they did it.
Yes, it's fun.
Both PvE and PvP. But more PvE in my case.
I don't grind. "Grind" implies doing something you don't enjoy to reach some end. I enjoy the PvE gameplay and don't go out of my way to level up abnormally fast. I definitely don't farm Air Elemental for tasks/coins. I just try different builds and have fun. I'm sure I'll get them all to 30 before they add more Mercs, so what's the hurry?
I like to try all different kinds of builds, so no, I don't have an "always include." That said, Cariel was my first to 30 because she's a reliable taunt, which is extremely helpful in PvE. I don't use her quite as much as I used to, though, as I've found other ways to keep my squishies alive. My favorite Merc -- the one I find the most fun if not necessarily the "best" -- is King Krush.
I would love to see them add Mozaki for more arcane synergy (and maybe some Troll synergy?). Also the League of Explorers and E.V.I.L., for sure!
Without targetted grinding - assuming no whaling and buying a load of packs - you're not getting legendaries crafted any time soon. A rough guess would be 72 runs on average per leg. And most legendaries only give coins from one single bounty (Emperor for Diablo, Avalanchion for Rag, Domo for LK et al).
That's the grind - crafting. Coins after crafting aren't too grindy as you have options.
I had to craft 5 leggos which sucked because thats basically the cost of maxing a single skill completely.
Tasks help a ton on the grind once you have them crafted though 1k coins for that unit and 500 for random units as well as 3 packs.
LOL I'm not a free-to-play scrub. I'll have as many legendaries as I want whenever I want. I'm certainly not going to waste coins crafting them.
EVERY free-to-play game is grindy if you refuse to pay. Everyone should know that going into it. Expressing the opinion that a free game is grindy for free players is like saying the sky is blue and acting like it's some huge epiphany.
