A Brief Video Overview of The New Hearthstone Mercenaries Game Mode
Blizzard came out with a very nice overview of what exactly the basics of Mercenaries Game Mode game play and mechanics are and what they look like in practice. A nice primer for the launch, next week, on Tuesday the 12th of October.
Take a closer look at Mercenaries!

This 4 min clip had way more information than that 45 min long train wreck of a live stream.
As for the mode, sadly it doesn't seem to be much fun... Grinding stats, to get more packs, to get more stats so you can grind some more. Battles look repetitive, slow pasted, decided at the start by raw stats.
I'll try it out but I'm not expecting much from it...
The concept in itself seems very fun but from what I've seen during Kripp and Trump's playtrough, the balance and pacing is beyond terrible... 80% of their gameplay was stomping their opponent without any chance of losing the match and the other 20% was grinding a bit until you're back at stomping. I sincerely hope Blizzard will find some golden line between those two before it goes live.
looks like Blizzard now actively sending Votebots our way now at Hearthpwn, all I see here about Mercs are negative comments and (RIGHTFULLY) scepticism, Yet they all get downvoted for some obscure reason, when everyone quite OBVIOUSLY isn't happy with Greedzard's direction.
You can't make us nor force us to like something that looks like it's coming straight from the 1993 SNES era.
Someone has a other opinion than me, so they have to be bots!
NO BOTS, DUDE! Just plain kids and manchilds without knowledge about life or struggles in life. ppl that defend big industry scams and bad practices and also defend tyrants of the money by believing they are some sort of winners in life and they one day will be too.
( but mos of time ends up licking their boots and giving up of everything in a few years to go to the woods solve their own mental issues and trauma caused by worshipping industry tyrants's arses after years of low wages and humilliation)
As someone with a love for SNES era games, I take that a bit personally! :-p
This looks like 2010 Facebook era online games, like Final Fantasy's Knights Of The Crystals.
We want tournament mode for the love of God. We dont want this shit. How hard is that to understand?
Can someone tell me when we decided that AnOldLady was in charge of deciding what 'we' want. I must have missed that vote.
Tournament mode with this shitty standard? lmao You should be thankful for a new mode, so you can forget the shitshow going on in Hearthstone the Solitaire (gonna be added as basic app in new W11).
I am still playing ranked a bit but I am not gonna loose time on this mode. I prefer, and by far, playing Valheim (Absolutely amazing) and Diablo 2 Resurrected.
This mode shouldn't even released when Battlegrounds is still in beta, feels like it's been in beta for like 5 years.
BG is not in beta anymore
what a waste of time...
My gut reaction to the video is that the visual presentation of the game mode is dull. It’s just simple tokens on an undecorated, drab brown backdrop that doesn’t evoke any setting or place in Aezeroth or anywhere else. There’s no flair.
I hope that impression is dispelled when the game comes out.
My guess, like most things, was to get the core mechanics out asap to start making money and call it a beta.
then they’ll introduce some visual flair on the gameboard at a later date and launch this as some new feature.
its too obviously bare - and this company knows how to design and put flash on things - for this to be their final intended state.
How can a game look like this in 2021? A mobile game looks 100x better
You don't have to play this game mode and if you do, you don't have to spend any money on it :) I'm not understanding why everyone is mad about getting a free, optional game mode.
I think people wanted another game mode that they could want to play. Then they get this and don't get that feeling so they are mad. It's understandable.
Well kicking up a fuss about it on a hearthstone fansite doesn't really achieve anything. It's not like anyone at blizz curates these comments.
