This week's brawl is Half & Half!
Rules:
Create a deck of 15 cards. At the start of the game, we'll complete your deck with a copy of your opponent's!
Rewards:
A Year of the Phoenix Card Pack for winning the Brawl once.
If you have a great deck for this brawl, create it in our deckbuilder, and share it with the world! Just make sure to label the Deck Type as a "Tavern Brawl" while saving and it might show up on the front page!
Met a DH with a deck full of synergy for hero attacking
The classes that have advantage in this brawl is where the HP can generate unique resources or benefit from effects that most do not.
Rogue with weapon buff (but no weapons, same below)
Shaman with totem buff
Mage with hero power related stuff
Hunter quest line
Paladin with silver hand buff
I'd rank the power of the five in roughly the above order, with the latter ones being increasing slow. But it does depend on resource availability in terms of high dupe count of certain key cards. Hunter quest line can be better than mage, for example, if they have 14 rapid fire as someone in this thread have mentioned. But generally, with more expensive triggers, probably not.
I think we can all agree, that this brawl is awesome ;)
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR INFO! :D
Now I can peacefully pick Rouge, and add 14 x Clever Disguise + Nozdormu the Eternal and play fiesta after fiesta xD
Second game & funny win, weeee
I'd be interested to see what happens with Maestra of the Masquerade in the deck
Nothing, as some people posted earlier.
Half decent, half non-random :) At least some break from all the random casino bs from the recent months.
Not a Terrible Brawl - pack was Y'Shaarj & Msshi'fn Seems Good
Rise to the Occasion and lot of Aldor Attendant, Blessed Goods, Desperate Measures, First Day of School and Libram of Wisdom. Very fun and good.
I've been enjoying Casino Mage with Nozdormu the Eternal of course.
Ran into someone running The UiS Hunter Quest and 14 rapid fires.
Am I the only one who dusts their duplicates?
Ha! That’s a fun deck, especially against hero power mage that supplies even more damage.
Also, yeah don’t dust unless you need it to craft something. You want to cash in when stuff is nerfed and dust just sitting there collecting dust is wasted.
Thing is, this isn't the first time this brawl came about, but the second. And people like me probably kept specific cards at high dupe count for this specific brawl, dusting around them even when dust is needed.
I have, 11 vulpera toxinblade, 10 cutting class and 13 totemic reflection. The decks I used are 10 vulpera+5 cutting class and 13 reflection and 2 tour guide(I should have kept more tour guide... I could go to 4 w/ 2 golden but while I'm willing to keep cards, crafting goldens is too extreme to me).
It is very fun when you can actually do something extreme.
I shall now prowl this thread and seek other broken stuff to never dust ever again. Though mostly commons and maybe some rares, epics+ are kinda impossible now that you only get dupes if you have everything.
the 2 copy limit does not apply to the deckbuilding in this brawl, which is really weird since you cant even craft more than 2 copies of a card...
so going over the limit is completely account dependant, you cant make a deck with 15 patches for example which is kinda limiting I think :D
moreover I had 15 lightning blooms in my collection because I opened that much appearantly, so it is very fun to trick your opponent thinking you got some ramp to play something big, so many people keep the lightning blooms I gave to them... :D then either they lose since they kept useless cards that overload them, or the battle turns into a hero power game which shaman's hero power is very good at that
15 Renounce Darkness ?
Unfortunately they are all warlock cards and thus transformed by the first you play.
The other cards from your opponent aren't affected (unless they are also a warlock, of course).
Rogue with a bunch of weapon buffs did the trick quite well.
This tip got me an easy win, cheers.
My recipe: 8 animated broomsticks and 7 smug seniors (why didn't they apply two copies only restriction??)
Yep, I found out the hard way too. Sad. :(
How to make the most annoying half-deck:
1. Put in Start Of Game effect cards. The trio I have are Norzudamu the Eternal, Prince Malchezar and C'thun the Shattered, which activates for both sides. And if Norzudamu activates first (considering this places a copy in your opponent's deck), the timer may start during the third card's animation. However, Benedictus, Greymane and Baku might not activate due to their requirements. Also, original and new Norzudamu don't stack their animations, so only use one of them.
2. Put in all the quests. These quests come from Ungoro, Uldum and Stormwind and will always start in your and their hands, which means that the opponent will have to mulligan and hope they get good cards. For me, my quest trio is on my Priest; you should be happy that they'll pick the Stormwind Quest because the Discover that triggers after each step interrupts their battle plans.
3. I personally go with Discover or Adapt because they pause plans when used, though only four cards have double Discover/Adapt. Alternatively, you can try cards that draw more cards for your and your opponent to mess up their tempo (and burn some if they spend too long being careful). If you are pro enough, you may know which battlecries/Legendaries take too long to activate when played.
Results: First pally I used this kind of deck on conceded first turn. Others do play on, but I did win some as Malchezar and Discover give me some flexibility to play around.
