It looks cool but confusing
And thats what I also thought. It looks really F2P friendly because you can farm everything and it does not seem to bad time wise. Normal HS is a LOT more money driven than mercs. Also on a side note: people think mercs is a PvP mode... Some people are as clueless as the people they invited to play the game early...
Why are people so mad about my post? Its true that HS is more money driven than mercs. Jesus...
Because you didn't say "Mercenaries Bad!"
Is this mode a PVE mode with a bit of PVP tacked on as an afterthought?
It was NEVER an PvP oriented mode. It was always PvE. So yes. It is 80% PvE or more and just a bit PvP for people who want to.
Oh boy, blizzards personal shills are loving it! I’m preordering as we speak. (“People” ACTUALLY think this)
Most of the people hate this FREE PvE mode because they think they have to PvP or buy everything from the job to enjoy it... if HS would come out this year instead of mercs people would lose it. And we tank about player that play a PvP card game where you have to buy packs... mercs is a lot friendlyer and still get shit.
The biggest mystery in my opinion is:
Can we have a potentially unlimited number of coins of the same character? Or is there a way to use coins once a character doesn't need them anymore?
This is a big issue in order to define how expensive the game is, because if we can have an unlimited number of coins of the same character you can be easily stacked in opening packs and findings only not useful coins because your characters are already full.
Blizzard obviously didn't explain it and this is for me the main point like now.
Blizzard updated a Q&A about it yesterday, to say that there are "Campfire quests" for each merc awarding 3 packs as well as a bunch of coins, for a total of 150 free packs that way. They also said that the campfire quests give you about 1500 coins per merc.
You get coins for each bounty, and while I think there are more lucrative daily events for more coins, you can grind a particular bounty to get more coins for a particular merc. It actually looks a lot more F2P friendly than standard Hearthstone, though people who buy packs will have faster access to legendary merc synergies in the PvP mode.
Currently I would think that there are a few options:
a. You dont get coins anymore when you have everything for that hero
b. You can change them to 1to 5 or so for a wanted coin when you have everything for that hero
c. You still collect them until they reach a limit (like 500 or 1000) for maybe higher leveln on equip and skills later
e. Worst situation which I think. You can get an infinite amount of coins. Therefore you can be stuck in openings packs without getting anything that you need
Even than. The scenario are giving you coins for the crew you use and for a few specific heroes. So you can just farm one mission to unlock the merc you want or you play any game and level up your crew in that way.
I hope I am wrong, but right now it is looking as pet battle in WoW. Hopefully it will be more interesting. But exactly there was gameplay with 3 minions which choose different ability and yo utry just to guess where will atack enemy minion. This is fun but for very short period of time. Hopefully it would be better.
Exactly! But the Mercenaries are much more complex. We have a lot of synergies, equipment and tree-like mission progression. And don't forget that all 3 poke... mercenaries are in a battle at the same time.
Lets just say: I still enjoy the old pokemon games so "just pictures" are fine with me. I am used to even less exiting battles and they can still improve them later on.
Seems fun, but I would actually like to play for myself an early access and actually make a real opinion not have to believe partnered content creators :(
Most likely playing, but not pre-ordering something I can't playtest
But is it fun to play?
Thats just Trump already though
Mercenaries HYPE!
Finally something interesting and replayable in PVE!
