I would think so. Also be aware that they can bring out even stanges and have a ton of stuff going on. Maybe the board gets more interesting over time. In the end in the same boat as you: PvE yay PvP nay.
Wow, this really looks prehistoric...
Remember Heroes of Might and Magic?
I'd rather play Heroes IV then this nonsense.
Wake up Blizzard, we are in 2021, not in 2001, LOL!
NGL it actually looks slow boring and terrible. I didn't even make it to the krip video cuz I need to stay awake today.
Preordered my golden Sylvannas.. sure i didnt need to but i did.. :D and pretty hyped.. since i dont play hs anymore at all.. not even the book of heroes.. cause its.. not good.. :/
Same. I like it and the thing is that they can do a ton of stuff. I am exited for it.
I think this looks pretty fun.
It seems like a better representation of a lot of the WoW characters and feels like there's some strategy involved. I think there's a co-op mode too so I can play it with friends too, right?
Do you have a co op mode in HS? No. Why should they change it here.
What I am hoping for in this mode is something like the appealing aspects of Dungeon Run or some of the other single player modes, without relying on random deck drafts, and with persistent rewards. I hope the harder PvE challenges and the Heroic bounties are like puzzles rather than pure stat checks based on how much you’ve spent/grinded. These early missions look really simplistic, but, of course, these are the tutorial missions. If the challenges are well designed and the PvP has the strategic depth of something like Pokemon Battles, this could be really interesting.
I think Battlegrounds is more fun than Teamfight Tactics and other auto chess games, despite having a lot less animation, so I’m not bothered by the look of it, and I have a fair amount of hope that the Hearthstone team has grafted the collection drive of Pokemon or Genshin to the gameplay of something like Slay the Spire for the bounties.
It’s really expensive, though and they haven’t given us a whole lot of information on what the higher-end gameplay looks like, so they have a lot of convincing to do if they want to sell those pre-order bundles.
ngl, I'll try this mode out, before making a judgement but wont spend a dime on it.
and I have a feeling that I wont like it and it will be p2w af...
so prolly gonna skip it
If you care for PvP: stay in HS. Mercenaries is for PvE players mostly. So therefore p2w is not really relevant.
It's way to expensive...
Expense has nothing to do with it, really. I have essentially unlimited resources, aside from time itself, and this boring nonsense does NOT seem worth any of that. What satisfaction are you getting from it? What sense of challenge? Pushing a level bar until "Level Up"? There's simply enough of that crap in this world already.
You have no idea what Heroic and Legendary bounties will be like. The names suggest they will be challenging.
Also, there are people (not me) who like to try to top the PvP leaderboards. That is a challenge by definition.
If the game doesn't seem interesting to you personally, that's fine, but it's not for lack of challenge.
Forty, I've read your posts for quite a few years now and I am surprised at just how much you are leaning into the Blizzard apologist stance recently for this game mode. Unless you are picking that hill to die on as you enjoy arguing against so many people simultaneously, but you've never struck me as trollish. But anyways, hope this mode turns out to be everything you are hoping for!
"Blizzard apologist" stance? They're just pointing out a different opinion and keeping a positive attitude toward the new game mode.
It's not like they're saying, "this game mode is going to be good and you're wrong for not being all-in on day 0 - also, Blizzard frat boys did nothing wrong"
In this day and age, I think it's important to take a stand against misinformation, whether it's deliberate or simply a result of delivering opinions without having all the facts.
In the case of Mercenaries, I see a lot of the latter.
"Taking a stand in this day and age against misinformation", yet you don't seem to realize you are arguing with personal taste? Nothing about this game mode appeals to me, as an individual, at all. And I just watched the same videos above as everyone else. That seems like all the information I'd need to decide a game mode is boring and not for me. And worse, I feel the effort that went into this "stuff" detracts from what could have been put into the game I've enjoyed since beta.
So yeah, once you cross that line and try to CONVINCE me otherwise, that's where I'd flag someone as a Blizzard operative (perhaps "apologist" was too strong earlier, my bad).
I did not say your taste was wrong. I pointed out that the reason behind your opinion (lack of challenge) was probably inaccurate. There is plenty of evidence to indicate that the game mode will be challenging.
If you don't like it, you don't like it. No game is going to please everyone. But if you say you don't like it for a reason that is demonstrably invalid, I think it's worth pointing that out.
i preordered 2 bundles - take my Money Blizzard plz, love it.
Great Company, great Games, Mercenaries looks so cool
Oh to live in a world where positivity is met with down votes. You do you, glad you're enjoying the game!
