Quote from BlizzardAre you ready for the biggest Battlegrounds update to date?! To start, we’re introducing an entirely new Battlegrounds specific keyword, Avenge, that does something after (x) friendly minions die. Then, we’re replacing 37 minions with new ones and adding two new Heroes! You can get an idea of how the Avenge keyword works by checking out those new minions below.
Before you do, we’ve made a few fundamental changes we want to make you aware of. We’ve added a damage cap of 15 damage until the first player dies, meaning that no player can take more than 15 damage from combat until the first player in a lobby dies or disconnects. We’ve also increased turn timers so that everyone has time to get familiar with the new content: the length of turns 3-9 have been increased by 5 seconds. Everyone will start fresh with this update as ratings will be reset with the 21.2 patch to make way for a new season.
General Updates
- Battlegrounds Specific Keyword added, Avenge: Does something after (x) friendly minions die.
- The length of turns 3-9 have been increased by 5 seconds. We may further adjust the length of turns sometime in the future.
- Darkmoon Prizes have been disabled.
- All players’ Battlegrounds ratings have been reset for a new season.
- Damage cap of 15 damage has been added until the first player dies. Please note that the damage cap does not check for player deaths until the start of each Recruit Phase, meaning if someone concedes, disconnects, or dies during the Recruit Phase (Is Wrath Weaver ever really on your team?), the damage cap will still be present for that combat.
- Players with Battlegrounds Perks are now more likely to be offered new Heroes during the two-week early access period that follows their initial announcement. In every lobby during the two-week early access period, the option to play with new Heroes will be distributed at random between players with Battlegrounds Perks. No player will be offered more than one new Hero.

Since its passive and happens every turn regardless...
Galewing for sure (goes away after a turn)
C'Thun (needs multiple turns to be useful)
Kuturus (Multiple Turns)
Ragnaros (better kill 25 in one turn!)
Tickatus (does nothing)
Alexstraza..? I mean if you go to Tier 5 on THAT turn it helps but
Bigglesworth? I think you can time that with it
Skycapin Kragg for sure
The Curator (start of game)
N'Zoth (start of game)
AF Kay (start of game not worth gimping yourself mid game if it works that way)
Saurfang? If it goes by turns MAYBE he would be useful?
HOPEFULLY they already see that cause getting the choice of AFK and Ragnaros on turn 6 sounds AWFUL
Can you get Reno's power, use it, and still switch off? Broken if so.
honestly there is a LOT of possibly broken interactions depending
On the fence about going to T5 and Alexstraza's pop up? BAM 2 free dragons one of them Kalegoes and Reno's pop up? Easy golden Kalegos
Bigglesworth is the one I'm actually wondering about like can you pick Bigglesworth on the turn like 3 people die and you get a mass discover? Will Skycappin keep track of turns and you can pick him turn 8 and get 8 free gold? Could you pick Shudderwok 3 times and get 3 pops of him? Hell can we take Reno, use it, pick reno again and use it again?
Arm of the Empire -1 health on a minion that's supposed to hit/get hit last. I bet ppl at blizz would patch up a bullet wound with a spongebob band aid and call it a day.
some juicy stuff
the nerf of Arm of the Empire being lose one hp is a complete joke, this don't change anything on that card
They removed a lot of the cards that were linking regular hearthstone and battlegrounds, which is kinda sad. Also the new card art is generally kinda lacking ...in something...soul I guess, they all look pretty generic. Hope the voicelines are good.
Negative stuff said I have lots of confidence in them being fun to play, for all their screw-ups with standard, BattleGrounds has been great - looking forward to the shake up. Some really spicey looking new effects incoming!
So, we are finally losing the BETA tag or nah?
Nah. Why stop? By continuing to call it a beta, they can disclaim responsibility for the quality of the game. Profit without accountability. It’s genius!
This is some really cool stuff.. Some really awesome minions, and overall the scope of this patch should really help change Battlegrounds. I only have one issue with it...
The art on most of these minions is TERRIBLE. I know that that's a very subjective matter, and you're free to disagree, but to me, many of these minions look very subpar compared to most minions in the game right now. They're messy, the colours are poorly chosen, and the illustrations themselves look like Blizzard was put on a very strict budget and could only afford artists that charge 1/10th of what they normally pay for card art.
Is it just me?
Art is horrendous indeed
Don't worry, cool card art will come in a cosmetic bundle for $19.99 in a few weeks.
I rather like Saltscale Honcho.
Even though I don't play this mode, I like the art and the effects of the minions XD
Glad for you guys
So none of the cards are reprints from Hearthstone, and they're moving to remove those cards.
Time to make Battlegrounds its own game, with its own client. Then you can fix the innumerable bugs caused by being tied to the archaic Hearthstone code and its mechanics.
Not gonna happen.
Uh, if they were going to do that they might as well update both.
