2 Warlock Changes Coming On Tuesday - "Mana Cost Adjustments"
Alec Dawson (team 5's lead designer) just announced on Twitter that next week on Tuesday we'll see 2 warlock balance changes as well as the time schedule for more balance changes next month.
Quote from Alec DawsonBalance schedule over next month:
8/31: 2 Warlock changes (upping mana, feels focused)
8/31 to 9/10: Evaluating meta
9/10: Decide if changes are needed
Later Sept: Decided changes go live (BGs included)
Alec's comment about Mindrender Illucia
Quote from Alec DawsonIllucia does have a bigger target on her back than before, but we shall see.
Big Battlegrounds update coming soon
Quote from Alec DawsonBalance after the big update. More info on that update quite soon!
Buffs for Warrior and Priest
Quote from Alec DawsonWe will definitely consider buffs for those decisions in September.
You speak about wild? Keep in mind that wild is a dumpster for old cards that often should never coexist (The Demon Seed + Crystallizer is pretty obvious example). But wild is wild and always meant to be, it's impossible to balance it. Standard shouldn't be punished by wild issues, that would make zero sense.
Just ran into warlock who completes quest at 5 (basically tamsin could 5 /7/7 minion without quest it doesnt matter at this point) and drew his entire deck and kills you with hands of guldans copied with 2/1 deathrattles on turn 7 for trillions of damage.
The quest is BUSTED. Just delete it complete immunity on your turn to damage is bullcrap.
Wild is a dumpster? If wild wouldn't exist Blizzard is literally stealing your money and deleting content as the game goes! I want to play the pixels I bought earlier, but the fact they don't balance wild is on their side of mistake!
Told you already, wild is wild. If you nerf quest for wild reasons, you will also remove Warlock from standard (quest is the only thing that keeps him viable there). Better idea would be to ban it in wild (like SoS), but don't touch it in standard.
Exactly! This always was the main purpose of wild, to legally steal all the cards that people paid for over the years, without giving them any refunds.
If they're removing the Fatiguepart, bec they're change the Quest, where only the damage from cards counts (and not everything), you just can play Hakkar and win.
Let's hope that "mana cost adjustment" can mean changing the text of stealer of souls so that it won't be complete chaos in any meta where warlock has a win con.
Still don't see why "cost health" means "take damage and pay 0" but let's not solve too many issues at once
I fear that after these nerfs other very powerful decks, that are at least as annoying as the Quest Warlock, will dominate the meta (looking at you, Quest Mage, Quest DH). IMHO the real problem is the insane card draw combined with insane mana cheat. I doubt upping the cost of some cards will ever fix this. It did not do much to Incanter's Flow. It is still an I-WIN-Button, now just a tiny bit later.
Regarding the meta overall: On the one hand, I really hate these ultra fast games, where it often feels like you are just a spectator. On the other hand, I really, really do not want to go back to 20-30 min Priest-will-grind-you-to-fatigue games. Maybe this is a case of wanting to have the cake and eat it too?
Yeah, knocking down Warlock will just even it out with the other questlines outside of Priest. Shaman, Mage and DH are still going to be crazy strong. Classic mid-range and control archetypes still will not have a place and hyper-aggressive decks still will be the only answer.
The 1% of entitled aholes that keep pushing changes that only benefit them and f-over the other 99% of players? Sounds about right. People should stop watching them, maybe we'll get some better balancing then.
I dare you to nerf Priest even further you donkeys! It already feels like I'm being punished for playing that class (not aggro, I don't like that playstyle at all).
Another nerfs for D6 are fine, but if they also nerf Handlock (aka the only viable Warlock deck in standard), the whole class will end up in the dumpster again, where it was for last 2-3 years.
I'm afraid that they will increase the mana cost of Flesh Giant again, which will delay him by another turn (from 5 to 6), making him usable on turn 7. This is definitely way too slow in the current meta, because on turn 7 most of the time you are already dead... Double giants on turn 5 aren't more broken than for example Lightning Bloom into Solar Eclipse into Arbor Up on turn 5 (or even earlier if Druid ramped his mana) or divine shield minions buffed by Paladin (they are very sticky and since almost no one runs hard removals, it's almost impossible to get rid of them in a single turn).
If they nerf Handlock, leaving others (like Secret / Handbuff Paladin, Face / Quest Hunter or Aggro / Quest Shman) intact, they're just blind.
To foolish people downvoting me:
Please explain how can you consider Handlock OP, but Handbuff / Secret Paladin (decks with very similar playstyle, win condition and matchups, but even better win rates than Handlock) not OP?
Wild is a trash heap because of the quest. The quest has to go. I don't care if "Handlock" is OP or not.
So ban it in wild, I don't care. Just leave it alone in standard.
These Warlock blaming comments are a joke.
I suppose you have no problem with DH playing 2 6/7 taunts on turn 3 and other shenanigans.
Warlock is vulnerable to a lot of aggressive decks, does not have a crazy win rate at all.
Ppl talking about Wild are nonsense, no one cares about Wild, it's never going to be balanced, that's why it is called Wild, duh.
My realistic bet is the 2 warlock cards chosen will get a +1 mana cost increase which will achieve literally nothing again. The pessimist in me is expecting something genius in the lines of Raise Dead doing 5 dmg instead of 3 because that is exactly how much they understand their own game.
It s exactly the opposite. Who hates Priest is a kid with a lot of toy who cries if they touch them.
I mean i hate all Priest decks but im pretty happy that Priest finaly also has a second Archtype. It was the only Class that never had 2 Archtypes in Hearthstone. Even Hunter hat a Controlish deck back then with Deathstalker Rexxar.
Well, if you are not stupid and know how to play aggro yes
than i must spam this deck until it gets nerfed
They’re upping card costs… in a deck that uses card costs to damage the enemy face? The fuck is happening here?
