Blizzard just announced a Mercenaries Showcase live stream event that will be live next Tuesday, August 31 at 9am PDT/ 12pm EDT/ 18:00 CEST/ 17:00 BST on the PlayHearthstone's Twitch channel.
You can expect:
- A Gameplay of the new mode.
- Twitch drops will be live as well.
- Some unannounced content & surprises.
- Launch date (It's expected to be live on October 12 - it got leaked today from a Mercenaries trailer video that is now hidden).
Quote from BlizzardMark your calendars! On August 31, at 9 a.m. PT, on both Twitch and Youtube, join Hearthstone Game Director Ben Lee, Game Designer Joe Killion, and U.I. Designer Hasiba Arshad for a deep dive into the upcoming Mercenaries game mode. The showcase will feature gameplay, reveal tons of content, and formally announce the Mercenaries launch date—it also might include a surprise or two!
On top of that, Twitch drops are back! You can earn up to 2 United in Stormwind packs for watching category-wide on Twitch. Between 8:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. PT, watch 15 minutes of any Hearthstone stream on Twitch to earn one pack and then watch 15 more minutes for the second. As a reminder, Twitch has updated how drops work on their end. Here is what you need to know:
- You will now be able to see your watch time progress towards any given drop.
- You will no longer receive drop rewards automatically. You must instead claim the drop on the channel you’re watching or in the Drops Inventory menu on Twitch within the first 24 hours of earning it.
- Twitch users can now earn rewards before linking their Battle.net account to Twitch. Rewards will expire 7 days after they’ve been claimed if a Battle.net account has not been linked.
After you’ve claimed your reward on Twitch, please make sure you’re logging into the region you’d like to receive the drop(s) on, as the first region you log into will be where we deliver your pack(s). It can take up to ~30 minutes to receive your reward(s) in game after claiming.
Link Your Battle.net & Twitch Accounts
You’ll need to link your Twitch.tv and Battle.net accounts to receive Twitch Drops. Here’s how:
- Log in or create an account on Twitch.tv.
- Navigate to the Settings menu by clicking your account name in the top-right corner of the home screen.
- Find the Battle.net section, then follow the instructions after selecting a region and clicking Connect.
- When connecting accounts, be sure that you’re currently logged into the Battle.net account on which you’d like to receive your rewards.
is it so hard to put "DROPS" in the title???
Would be amazing if they just ban this expansion from the game.
I wonder if one of the surprises will be showcasing the Main Menu revamp. I can't wait to see what they have planned for that; hopefully, it'll be even more beautiful.
By far, the most frustrating match up to play against with is none other then the warlock. How about a nerf? Regarding the quests, I always thought that they shouldn't be all 5. I mean wouldn't be nice to have quest rewards that have 6, 7 or 8 to balance the classes?
how about a nerf to wild warlock, thats the only suprise any of us need.
No shit. Cancerlock and the number of newbs playing it because they lack the skill to play anything that takes brain power, is getting old.
quit with the salt.
"You will now be able to see your watch time progress towards any given drop."
Uhm... no. This is how it has always operated on Twitch.
"You will no longer receive drop rewards automatically. You must instead claim the drop on the channel you’re watching or in the Drops Inventory menu on Twitch within the first 24 hours of earning it."
...this is how it has always operated...
"Twitch users can now earn rewards before linking their Battle.net account to Twitch. Rewards will expire 7 days after they’ve been claimed if a Battle.net account has not been linked."
...yeah... This was how it has always operated. Also, is it 24 hours, or 7 days? Which is it?
edit: yeah, just poor word choice. Must claim within 24 hours, must receive within 7 days.
Huh... not sure why I got downvoted. I spit facts xD
I've convinced myself that it's a Pokemon inspired combat, by the fact that you build a team, attacks are chosen simultaneously, and the mercenaries seem to evolve.
Probably more skin packs and such. But let's hope one of the surprises is another balance patch that actually accomplishes something.
Nah, probably nerf Paladin again because you know a board based deck that wins on turn 6/7 is bad for the game but an uninteractive that wins on 6/7 is okay. That Team 5 logic for you right there in a nutshell.
The surprise is not a balance patch, because they already talked about it
So, they mention that you can see the reveal on both Twitch and Youtube, but only talk about Twitch drops.
Can I still get drops from watching on Youtube then?
Youtube is a competitor so probably not.
...Why would you prefer youtube drops? Twitch is far superior in handling. You can actually tell that you received it.
Youtube is far superior in video streaming.
I can see Youtube being better in the sense you can rewind. But that's literally it. Chat sucks. You can only see 6-8 messages because of absurd amount of blank space, with ~20% of that message being their name, and you receive blocks of chat. There is no way to track your rewards, or if you've received it. On twitch's side, 14+ messages, with minimal blank space. Chat also appears instantly.
For a viewing experience, yeah... I can see youtube being better. Twitch is still far superior in every other way. It can also be argued that live interaction is faaaaar superior on twitch, because you can actually read chat as a streamer. It'd be a nightmare on youtube.
edit: I had to look at it again, yeah... youtube chat sucks. Impossible to follow and interact
As if Twitch chat is possible to follow and interact with in a large stream.....?
And do you seriously think Blizzard would be ENABLING chat on anything they present at the moment? With their corporate culture exposed, as it were?
Well, on youtube, you'd receive 100 messages per tick.... so yeah, way easier on twitch. But your focus isn't what the conversation is? You're talking about a problem that affects both platforms.
And yeah, I don't think they will be disabling chat. The Grandmaster tournaments had chat enabled, so how about you get your facts straight, before spewing lies xD
