Balance Changes Coming Tomorrow - 8 Changes In Total!
Blizzard just announced 8 balance changes that will go live tomorrow. Let's take a look at what's going to get changed.
One change that you should know about:
- Fixed a bug where completing all Book of Heroes installments would not display the proper achievement or give the proper award. All players who have already completed all 10 Book of Heroes will automatically receive the proper award of a Golden Standard pack.

Dev Comments: After two weeks of monitoring the rapidly evolving United in Stormwind launch metagame, we’re making a few balance changes to slow down the speed of the game by a turn or two. Overall, this translates to two things: limiting the efficiency at which combo decks can assemble the pieces they need to win, and reducing the burst damage that board-based decks have access to from hand. We hope that these changes will give a bit more room for slower strategies to find success in this meta, and we’ll continue to keep an eye on the live game to see if any further changes are needed.

Arena Balance Update
We’ve updated the appearance rate of cards to ensure class balance remains close to the ideal 50% win-rate. Specifically, the win-rate of Druid, Warrior, and Demon Hunter should now be decreased. The win-rate of Mage, Priest, Rogue, and Shaman should now be increased. The win-rate of the other classes should be roughly the same as before.
Bug Fixes & Game Improvements
- Updated the Stealer of Souls animation to now only trigger if the card ends up in your hand (it does not trigger for cards that are Cast When Drawn, such as Soul Shards). The animation will also no longer trigger if the drawn card already costs Health instead of Mana (such as when you have two Stealer of Souls in play).
- Fixed card text errors for Psyfiend and Florist (no functional change to either).
- Fixed a bug where Prismatic Jewel Kit would trigger when effects returned a Divine Shield minion to the owner’s hand or moved a Divine Shield minion from the owner’s hand to the owner’s deck.
- Fixed a bug where Seek Guidance (the Priest questline) would sometimes count the original Cost of cards, instead of the Cost actually paid for the card.
- Fixed a bug where the Initiate Set version of Eye Beam did not properly display card art in the Collection Manager.
- Fixed a bug where Reborn Rites, The Lich King’s Battlegrounds hero power, caused players to disconnect from the game server.
- Added interactions between Pave the Way (part of the Paladin Questline) and Duels-specific hero powers.
- Fixed various bugs in Book of Heroes Gul’dan and Book of Heroes Illidan.
- Fixed a bug where Duels achievements were not tracking properly.
- Fixed a bug where Witchwood collection achievements triggered even though the requirements were not yet met.
- Fixed a bug where completing all Book of Heroes installments would not display the proper achievement or give the proper award. All players who have already completed all 10 Book of Heroes will automatically receive the proper award of a Golden Standard pack.
These changes aren't going to do much to effect Warlock in wild, the Incanter's Flow will stifle quest mage quite a bit and the Conviction change is a nice change to lower the power level of odd paladin. Mage was the deck I was using the most to counter warlock in wild so it's kinda frustrating that it is getting an overall more harsh nerf than warlock is getting. I am willing to believe these changes are only based on standard as trackers are showing Warlock not only having the highest winrate in Wild at the moment but being the most played deck by a rather large margin.
The only thing they change in Wild are absurdly broken things.
Goodbye Pack Runner, hello (again) Imprisoned Facemaw.
Conviction nerf put in grave my hope for Quest Paladin to be playable :(
On the other hand cant see how this will affect handbuff paladin
The Battlemaster nerf will be more impactful for Handbuff, but even that won't really help a whole lot. It does suck that the Questline archetype is getting hit.
Fungalmancer Flurgl
Old: [Passive] After you sell a Murloc, add a random Murloc to Bob’s Tavern. → New: [Passive] After you sell a minion, add a random Murloc to Bob’s Tavern.
I don't really see the change?
Nevermind, I'm blind.
"random Murloc" - "random minion". You sometimes want to take non-murlocs to support your existing board (Defender of Argus with Brann on board, for instance). It's more flexible now
So, a tap on the wrist. I suppose they're generally happy with the game right now. Good to know..
How stealer of souls and battleground battlemaster weren't removed from the game remains a mystery
Yup. RIP my Legend Odd Paladin. Conviction was a bit over powered at 1 Mana.
Why, God, why?
Didn't the devs said a huge nerf wave was coming or was it another lie? All their promises are nothing but lies, this makes me really to sad. hearthstone could be such a better game.
They said that there will probably be a huge nerf to the core set when it rotates the next time AFAIK. Not a huge nerf now, which would have been necessary, though.
Why would they nerf the core set? Cripes.
They think about lowering the power of the core set alongside releasing a lower power set at the start of next year and nerfing the three sets from this year to the ground, to be precise. Which would be a great idea for the game, but piss off people because mY cArDs aRe a LOt wEaKEr nOw!11!
Just imagine what they would have to do to the questlines to adapt them to a rather low power level...

isnt it a buff to Pack runner ?
No 3 drop can kill him as well as all deal 3 Damage Spells !?
delaying the play by 1 turn is huge for Face Hunter.
They are idiots… what did you expect?
Worse combo potential.
Il'gynoth and Incanter's Flow nerfs are good but nerfing Battleground Battlemaster to 6 does absolutely nothing, it doesn't solve the problem with the card, what other card in the game deal 15+ damage with little set up most of the time? this is so dumb , Darkglare delayed by 1 turn isn't a big deal when it cost 0 most of the time.
