Balance Changes Coming Tomorrow - 8 Changes In Total!
Blizzard just announced 8 balance changes that will go live tomorrow. Let's take a look at what's going to get changed.
One change that you should know about:
- Fixed a bug where completing all Book of Heroes installments would not display the proper achievement or give the proper award. All players who have already completed all 10 Book of Heroes will automatically receive the proper award of a Golden Standard pack.

Dev Comments: After two weeks of monitoring the rapidly evolving United in Stormwind launch metagame, we’re making a few balance changes to slow down the speed of the game by a turn or two. Overall, this translates to two things: limiting the efficiency at which combo decks can assemble the pieces they need to win, and reducing the burst damage that board-based decks have access to from hand. We hope that these changes will give a bit more room for slower strategies to find success in this meta, and we’ll continue to keep an eye on the live game to see if any further changes are needed.

Arena Balance Update
We’ve updated the appearance rate of cards to ensure class balance remains close to the ideal 50% win-rate. Specifically, the win-rate of Druid, Warrior, and Demon Hunter should now be decreased. The win-rate of Mage, Priest, Rogue, and Shaman should now be increased. The win-rate of the other classes should be roughly the same as before.
Bug Fixes & Game Improvements
- Updated the Stealer of Souls animation to now only trigger if the card ends up in your hand (it does not trigger for cards that are Cast When Drawn, such as Soul Shards). The animation will also no longer trigger if the drawn card already costs Health instead of Mana (such as when you have two Stealer of Souls in play).
- Fixed card text errors for Psyfiend and Florist (no functional change to either).
- Fixed a bug where Prismatic Jewel Kit would trigger when effects returned a Divine Shield minion to the owner’s hand or moved a Divine Shield minion from the owner’s hand to the owner’s deck.
- Fixed a bug where Seek Guidance (the Priest questline) would sometimes count the original Cost of cards, instead of the Cost actually paid for the card.
- Fixed a bug where the Initiate Set version of Eye Beam did not properly display card art in the Collection Manager.
- Fixed a bug where Reborn Rites, The Lich King’s Battlegrounds hero power, caused players to disconnect from the game server.
- Added interactions between Pave the Way (part of the Paladin Questline) and Duels-specific hero powers.
- Fixed various bugs in Book of Heroes Gul’dan and Book of Heroes Illidan.
- Fixed a bug where Duels achievements were not tracking properly.
- Fixed a bug where Witchwood collection achievements triggered even though the requirements were not yet met.

Well, it's definitely a Blizzard's intent to make OTK Demon Hunter only viable through questline.
This is "standard" nerf. What about wild and warlock nerf?! Are you kidding?!
Thought the same. I was looking forward these nerfs to play wild again, but they hardnerfed baku paladin, one of the very few decks to play against questlock.
Um... Darkglare and Flesh GIant?
Did you play wild sometime? Questlock can complete quest in 3rd turn without these cards bro. Raise Dead and Crystallizer. That hurts
As someone who plays a lot of Baku Paladin, it doesn't beat questlock. Every once in a while you can pull off a miracle win on turn 6 with conviction battlemaster, but most of the time they kill you on turn 5 or 6 after clearing your board with a barrage of raise dead crystalizers darkglares and brooms.
Yeah, so now that mage and warlock got a tiny bit slower, odd spel questline hunter just got even better at defeating them. xD

Honestly, i usually refuse to play any sort of extreme powerfull decks in wild, the sense of achivement is totally lost when playing it..... , cuz the games were ALL the same, it happen with naga giants lock, stealer of souls mecathun otk, and now with seed lock.... yesterday as a protest ,decided to give it a shoot myself... there is absolute no skill needed to play it, super cheap deck .....D5 to legend in 2-3hours. Almost 80% win rate, 0 sense of achivement. GJ Blizzard......
These are obviously decent changes for the game's winrates, but for the game's overall balance?
Yikes.
Tempo decks are going to continue to just flat out suck because there's just so many low cost counters.
Control is going to continue to not be able to make a large enough impact before getting OTKed.
So we're likely to continue to just see combo vs. aggro games, with likely less paladin than before.
Poor changes, probably done with Hearthstone. Only enjoy control decks so can't see this changing anything.
How about the fact that it triggers when the minion is hit by a Devolving Missiles? They aren't losing their shield in this situation, they're becoming a different minion altogether.
I imagine the patch also fixes that issue, it's basically the same error, a minion "losing divine shield" by being removed from the board by something other than a source of damage.
It also triggers when the minion gets silenced. *facepalm*

I personally like these changes, am interested to see where the meta goes now, I think those moments of 'turn 2 incanters flow GG' and 'Paladin has 2 minions you can't remove this turn GG' or 'darkglare flesh giant shenanigans - full board turn 4/5' are the main opressors of fun in the game and all of them got hit, so thank you hearthstone team :)
