Alliestrasza and Lt. Eddy Cancel Card Reveals over Blizzard Allegations and Law Suit
Content Creators Alliestrasza and Lt. Eddy, who were both scheduled to have card reveals today both decided to not do their reveals on the scheduled time due to news that broke about a law suit against ActivisionBlizzard about sexual harrassment and gender based discrimination.
Here is a link to a story on The Verge which has all the relevant information about that suit, including a statement by ActivisionBlizzard on the topic.
Below you will find the courageous video message by Alliestrasza explaining why she made her decision, as well as Lt. Eddy's tweets on the topic.
FRIDAY EDIT: Trump has announced today that he is also pulling his card reveal. Blizzard also decided to pull more reveals from their own official channels, scheduled in the next few hours. See the video in which Trump explains his reasoning below.
Hey folks, not releasing my card reveal today. https://t.co/YzFRcjwFyk pic.twitter.com/rkXEVuPM4K

Please note: This happens at other companies, if not most. Even your own workplace that you’re unaware of. Please stand up against this behavior if you see it.

Only a Sith deals in absolutes. Seriously though, why must all reactions be extreme? She just said on a day that such serious allegations were made known it didn't seem like a good idea to do a whimsical, humorous card reveal video. That seems completely sensible to me. If anything I'd probably think it less sensible if she had decided to completely drop Hearthstone altogether because of allegations being made and before they had been adjudicated in court.
The reason people disagree with this threat, is not because they are misogynistic.
It's because most people here hate it when you call someone bad, but at the end of the day still take there money (ex. China)
If you dislike the direction the company is going, stop buying/using there product.
If you want to make a different between art and artist, good for you, keep on hating the company, enjoy playing the game,
If you don't care about any of this, why are you reading this threat?
I'm aware the situation is bad but can't just they post the png? i made a twitch/twitter account just to see the cards i dont even use those :/
"Men" don't behave like that over a card reveal.
Boys do.
Bravo well said.
I dont like how both Alliestrasza and Lt. Eddy are saying that this situation isnt unique for just Activison Blizzard though. That makes me feel like theyve been told by Blizzard to say that to dampen the blow. This DOES NOT HAPPEN at most companies. Someone DIED. This doesnt get to just be swept under the rug like its normal pheonomenon. This is outrageous on a global scale. Lets hope for a dip so we can buy low boys!
That makes no sense. Blizzard would not want anyone making a video like this just to point out that it happens at other companies. If Blizzard were truly pulling the strings, I'm sure they would prefer that people not talk about it at all.
People should leave things like this in the court. I don't really care about the cards, but maybe in the end Blizzard is completely innocent (I don't expect it, but it still could be). What are they gonna say at that point? "Oopsie poopsie, should have done my card reveal then!". It would be to late because you still damage something over something that is not even proven yet.
A girl comitted suicide bcs of the sexual misconduct over there. You have got to be quite heartless or autistic to not react like Alliestrasza and Lt. Eddy did. They have all right to protest like this. Blizzard will give the card reveal to someone else and perhaps not pick these streamers in the future. Don't say stupid crap like this again when you don't know half of the shtstorm that is going on. Read the allegations. Dozens have already testified.
and holy *** - she delayed the card reveal with one day. ONE DAY and u ppl cry about it XD. Get ur sht together and ur priorities straight
Let's imagine a bit more extreme case: let's say a painter is a rapist, I'm not just gonna burn his paintings because he's a rapist.
He's a horrible person, but art no matter in which form should be left alone, art doesn't have any fault and doesn't illustrate in any way the horrible things the artist did. She stopped a product(which alot of people waited for btw) that doesn't illustrate the horrible things Blizzard did in any possible way.
Also once she accepted to make a card reveal, she is kind of morally forced to show it because she became responsible for it. The same reason an actor is forced through the contract to continue the movie even if he wants to leave, because if he leaves the other actors and director's work was in vain ---- cause you can't continue a movie if a character suddenly dissapears. Even if her reasoning to defend victims is good and even if Blizzard did terrible things, what she did is morally incorrect ---- Hearthstone cards did nothing wrong, Hearthstone cards doesn't show in any way abuse or harassment, if she wants to protest she can freely go in street and fight against the horrible people in Blizzard company, but again Hearthstone cards doesn't have anything to do with abuse, suicide or harassment.
ur examples are trash in so many ways, but lets ignore that for a sec because the message here is incredibly enough still not clear on you autists. no, hearthstone cards and rape allegations against blizzard arent DIRECTLY correlated, but they have correlation still. if Alliestraza didnt affect u as a hearthstone player directly with the card reveal, chances are u wouldnt even know about this ordeal. but now that u do, hopes are that ur support for blizzard will change, or at least thats the threat of all this. if blizzard doesnt act up real good, their fanbase will diminish. hope that clears up why u as a hearthstone fan are getting a sneak peak into this whole mess whether u asked for it or not...
also u talk about morality here, as if u have ANY morality with ur standpoint XD Allie specifically said she skipped her reveal because of MORAL reasons. it felt >inhumane< to put on a happy face and hype people about blizzard products the same day she hears that blizzard was responsible for someones suicide
Mhm, so forcing me to aknowledge something by stopping a product I wanted and I was supposed to see from the person that took the responsability of showing the product. Makes sense, as much sense as Jehova's witnesses stopping me in the middle of the road to tell me about their lord Jesus, just put your stuff in my face cause for sure I wanted that.
The article about the horrible things Blizzard did was on the front page of every Hearthstone forum, that was pretty much enough for people to see it and aknowledge it.
Now my card reveals stopped, I aknowledged it(even tho I already did it before when I've seen the article lol, I didn't need my card reveals to stop in order to get the idea) so what's next? You guys just want everyone to stop playing Hearthstone or what? Cause Alliestraza will probably remain without a job in the very close future if everyone left Hearthstone and I'm pretty much sure it's not what she wants, she actually just bited the hand that feeds her right now. So what did you win? Attention, that's what you want?
You want to protest against the horrible people in Blizzard? Do it, go in street and revolt against them, I have no problem with that. Just leave my life alone, I am sorry for the victims but I'm not gonna go on streets against Blizzard for that, and I really don't care if you find me autistic or whatever because of that. I leave it for justice to decide, my opinion about it is as useless as yours.
If fans stops or decrease their purchases of Blizzard and Activision products then thats an even harder blow against them than the lawsuit. And considering all the controversy they had with China, that is something they deserve. I for one don't pay for HS so I can't lower my support any more, but fans that did will in accordance to these news. Its time Blizzard Activision took responsibility for their poor choices.
Nice to see that even Blizzard themselves are on my side, telling toxic fans like you to stfu
.
Decreasing the purchases is a nonsense, income/money is not equal to justice, decency.
Do you also protest for rapists to lose their houses or income? They will get to jail, punished accordingly to the State's rules which were wrote and decided harsh enough by people with experience; not humans with hatred and revenge in their hearths. This is harsh enough, their house and income doesn't have anything to do with this.
Also affecting Blizzard's income you also punish alot of people that did nothing wrong. Let's imagine a case where Kaufland's owner was an abuser. You protest against Kaufland by not buying anymore, so if Kaufland fall all the other workers(sellers, managers, carriers, service people, cleaning people) lose their job and they won't be able to feed their famillies, also alot of neighborhoods remain without a close shop hardly affecting the industry and urbanism. Same thing happens in Blizzard's case, you revolt in nonsense ways, you attack people that did ntohing wrong to you and you are ruining games that alot of people like, instead of protesting against the actual people that were horrible. You are protesting against Blizzard as a whole, a company where not everyone is an abuser.
the most important counterpoint to this is that it is an unreasonable standpoint, much like communism, where ur argument is based on some fantasy dreamland where ppl will take time out of their lives to find out exactly who did this, go out on the streets, and put up paragraph-long signs against individuals. no, get real. not spending money is an actual alternative.
moreover, a demonstration doesnt punish as harsly as cutting income, so the easy solution is actually more effective for perverts not to act in the future. cutting income to blizzard also insentivises not only the perpetraitors but the leaders that were indirectly involved to act up. as for the ones who did nothing wrong, which are few in this case, thats tough even unfair. almost as bad as being harassed, groped, discriminated, raped and comitting suicide - but not quite...
Now, I understand everyone's shit is emotional right now.
