Alliestrasza and Lt. Eddy Cancel Card Reveals over Blizzard Allegations and Law Suit
Content Creators Alliestrasza and Lt. Eddy, who were both scheduled to have card reveals today both decided to not do their reveals on the scheduled time due to news that broke about a law suit against ActivisionBlizzard about sexual harrassment and gender based discrimination.
Here is a link to a story on The Verge which has all the relevant information about that suit, including a statement by ActivisionBlizzard on the topic.
Below you will find the courageous video message by Alliestrasza explaining why she made her decision, as well as Lt. Eddy's tweets on the topic.
FRIDAY EDIT: Trump has announced today that he is also pulling his card reveal. Blizzard also decided to pull more reveals from their own official channels, scheduled in the next few hours. See the video in which Trump explains his reasoning below.
Hey folks, not releasing my card reveal today. https://t.co/YzFRcjwFyk pic.twitter.com/rkXEVuPM4K

Please note: This happens at other companies, if not most. Even your own workplace that you’re unaware of. Please stand up against this behavior if you see it.

These "content creators" just use this as an opportunity to take a stand on an important issue and put at risk their financial future to do so. I wonder how many others would have the stones to do the same?
Calls people angry children but gets pissy over a card reveal being delayed for a video game.
You people can't be serious.
I'm not 100% sure if Blizzard is still to blame or not. I honestly don't know. Though I appreciate Alliestrasza's message, she doesn't come across as preachy.
I hate the hypcritical cancelculture! But this is too much. Fuck Blizzard!
This forum is a cesspool of reactionaries and endemic of the culture responsible for the failings in the industry and society at large.
Nah gamers are just mere sheeps / muppets in a passive reactive state to higher powers pulling all the strings.
But yea Millenials and Gen-Z (1997 - 2012 born) are sensible and fragile as fvck, when compared to their parents / grandparents.
Can barely invite in the Pizza delivery Man in the most awkward way to return to their Hearthstone basement.
(which looks something like this)
How about: "gamers just want to play a good game". We are not here to be political. Of cause most of us dont give a damn. We are here to rest and chill.
Allie's reasoning for not proceeding with her card reveal today was completely sensible. Frankly, some of the reactions to this whole situation and to Allie's decision here and in other forums are the reason why the term "gamer" is becoming an unsavory term.
Edit: Also, if you downvote this post have the balls to respond and state why. I won't hold my breath.
“Also, if you downvote this post have the balls to respond and state why”
No
They should follow through then and stop playing Blizzard games. There is also nothing wrong with the term "gamer". You can always find rotten apples in any group.
Down voted because it's pretty selfish of them to cancel the reveals and ruin the fun for everyone else.
Down voted because it isn't selfish to want to raise awareness about an important issue. I'm sure you'll get over having to wait FFS.
Ye without hearthstone I would never get that some human are oppressed. Hail blizz and the community and hate everyone who just came to play a game, ignorant fools who live in a rich vacuum. Disgustin
what do you mean by "becoming" unsavory, at least since the 80s being a gamer was practically a slur and while more recently there is less negativity towards the tag (because a lot more people play games) it's still not something i'll openly call myself or be proud of. there's still a fuck load of baggage if you call yourself "gamer" in todays culture.
Some would view it as selfish to place your wants for a card reveal over the serious allegations that were made known. But everyone can have a difference of opinion on this point.
The vocal majority are assholes not just a few rotten apples.
I’m saddened to see a lot of people commenting here. Their ignorant whataboutisms prove they are part of a problem that concerns each and everyone of us. I urge the moderators to take any action they see fit to erase the hateful and misogynistic comments. When we see something bad happening, we do something, anything in our power to change it. Any other stance equals to siding with the oppressor. What a huge let-down some people of the community are. Shame on you!
Dude its literally social rejects and degenerates that are commenting that stuff. Just feel bad for them because their parents never loved them
No, they’re not. They’re everyday people. We hang out in the same places, they are in our families and workspaces. They are employers, co-workers, high-schoolers, teachers.. This level of misogyny is everywhere. And those ‘smart, charismatic kids’. They do it too. This happens when we fail to pay attention to the pathogenies of our society. We’re all responsible and we should all be doing our best to stand to the victims and make sure the oppressors get what they deserve.
