Yes to play cards you need to draw them. And yes handlock's typical play pattern is a couple of turns of stockpiling cards and then having a big swing turn on turn 4 or 5.
And dropping an 8/6 on turn 4 for 1 mana I'd always gonna be a pretty good play. Doesn't lose much from being played later either, it's just a solid card.
No, not against aggro and that's my point. It was good strategy years back, when the game was slower, now it's not. Doing nothing on first 3-4 turns in aggro matchup is suicide for Warlock, because he simply just can't recover from that. Hell, sometimes you can play your heals / removals on curve and still die on turn 6-7. Not playing them will kill you even faster and tauntless vanilla 8/6 won't change that.
It's a 1 mana 8/6. Aggro either has to deal with the fact that you just played a monstrously overstated minion for literally nothing or ignore it and take a ton of face damage or worse, you can give lifesteal to via Mosher on the next turn and heal for 12.
Aggro existed and was popular when Handlock existed. You're thinking about one single match up here.
Also... no one is forcing you to stockpile cards to play this against Hunter, Rogue or Shaman. You can keep other cards you think will be more useful in an aggro match-up and play those instead.
Ye, except they can use Piercing Shot or other removal and just go face... If Void Drinker wasn't strong enough to slow them down, this one won't be either.
But back then aggro's damage output was much lower and slower.
Thing is, Warlock needs valid strategy against aggro right now, because he's already pretty strong against slower, control-ish decks. If Handlock isn't good against aggro, then it's redundant and pointless.
While am glad they are somewhat pushing handlock, I think quest line Warlock along with fatigue is going to be the favored deck.

Crap, now this is going to be the free legendary I'll get when the set launches.
They just had to print a bad one.
It's funny how they revealed this card right after Dark Alley Pact so they could showcase how underwhelming this card is. Dark Alley Pact is just more versatile and less punishing but who knows maybe they can both work well together.
Also i must add that the text is a huge letdown for a big baddie like Anetheron. There could have been so much more flavor. They could have taken abilities that he had in WoW such as healing reduction and putting minions to sleep.
Maybe they'll give us some hand filler with mini-set. Who knows...

What's going on with this, Blizzard? Legendary cards are progressively being devalued and increasingly insubstantial. They are less... legendary!
My proposal for fixing this "legendary":
Your cards cost (1) if your hand is full. - 6 MANA - 6/6
That would still be really bad. Because once you play one card, your hand is no longer full.
Exactly, so you have to draw more cards, one of the warlocks' archetypes...
I was thinking about the design and like other ppl mentioned, I think taunt or lifesteal could help but they could have pushed their original design so it could fit more deck type. example the text could read:
if you have 10 card in hand OR 10 card or less in deck then this cost 1 (and still possibly have taunt or heal) its a lgendary after all.
