I'll just sit here waiting for the eventual Trolden compilation of people winning on Turn 10 with this quest.
Golden craft.
I didn't craft anything last expansion because I was waiting to be able to craft a card like this if I don't pack it. Very exciting. Lot's of ways to build a deck around this card.
The dream: Grand Archivist and a 7-cost minion at top of deck, play G'huun the Blood God. Next turn play the 7-cost minion using health, Xyrella, the Sanctified, then Grand Archivist with no other spells in deck. Obviously you'll need a lot of health, but you could use the extra 5 mana to heal the turn of the combo. Of course if you somehow reduce G'huun the Blood God's cost by 3 you could do the combo in 1 turn, in theory.
I think it's more about the small specific drawing rewards that I find pretty cool.
I might add it in a reno deck just to draw specific tools and ignore the shard, having it just like a second win condition.
Shadowverse made a card a lot like this once. it was horrible, i dont think hs, mtg or any card game *looks at yugioh* will have a meta "you win this game" card in real comp.
*sorry yugi*
Doesnt seem viable so far, and dont think we’ll have a kind of support card for this.
Draw a 2,3 and 4 cost cards?
this card is such a meme, don't expect much from this
Let's give to priest an Op win condition because it is not annoying. Ok.
I hope this wont be viable, I hate otk
And they start with 1 less card in their opening hand. I guarantee this is not good in any way whatsoever against aggro.
The most obnoxious thing about this Questline is that it also inherently gives Priest a fighting chance vs aggro decks because they can keep discovering the best outs from their deck. Gross.
Primordial Protector will probably end up being a must for this card - it fulfils the 8 mana requirement and can pull the 10 mana spell once complete.
That said, I think it's so slow that you're nearly always going to be near the end of the deck by the time this card gets played. I think the upside of the quest is that you get a conditional "discover 2 cards in your deck" for 1 mana. That's actual card draw...in Priest....!
The more I think about this, the less I like the quest. You are forced to end your turn with xyrella in your hand, which is inviting your opponent to eat it with mutanus, and tickatus still destroys your win con once you shuffle it into your deck.
You’re absolutely right, this is mutanus fodder, but then again, all the quest rewards are heroes, so mutanus will be an autoinclude in all decks. If you get to play Xyrella though, you get 4-5 mana that turn to play thrive in shadows or cleric of anshe, or even 2x thrive, desperate prayer, cleric. If you can’t draw this spell the turn you play Xyrella, you should probably hold on to Xyrella. The crazy play would be Xyrella—>High abbess alura—>desperate prayer and play the shard the turn you play Xyrella.
i mean sure, but i imagine this deck is much more minion heavy than current priest decks with the requirement to hit specific mana costs (you'll want several of each mana cost) therefore it's much less likely for mutanas to hit exactly that card.
Agreed, but all the quest lines give a minion, and most of them that we have seen so far won’t have 5 mana left over to play a minion the turn they complete the quest. Mutanus will be in every single deck in case your opponent is playing a quest deck and finishes their quest before you can kill them.
The other questline can avoid mutanus with careful play was my point. The 5 mana cost could easily be played the same turn you complete the warlock or mage quest, if you start the turn with the quest almost finished. You simple cannot do that with the priest one, however.
You certainly could. Don't forget Ghunn the Blood God.
Does an "8 cost card" mean 8-mana or would health suffice? From the wording it should also include the cards drawn with Ghunn but you never know.
Either way, it's not going to be a reliable way to get around Mutanus - you'll just have to eat theirs first!
