Patch 20.8.2 - Balance Changes for Priest and Druid - Bugfixes

Standard Balance Updates
Apotheosis
- Old: Give a minion +2/+3 and Lifesteal. → New: Give a minion +1/+2 and Lifesteal.
Dev Comment: We’re doing two Priest changes, targeting the burst healing available in the class and their generation capabilities. Let's start with Apotheosis—we are moving the buff down to +1/+2 to hit the card's general power and combo capabilities. While healing will always be a strength of Priest, we want to reduce the urgency felt when dealing with Priest's minions. Currently, it can feel like you must remove every Priest minion because of the threat Apotheosis poses. A slight reduction in the buff here should lessen that urgency and make the minions post-Apotheosis easier to deal with. The other side of this nerf is the Samuro + Apotheosis combo. The punishment for playing minions into this combo is too much at the moment, so while we'd like to keep some of that tension of resource commitment, we don't want the punishment to be a full heal for the opponent. The reduction in attack here helps get that combo into a healthier push/pull state.
Renew
- Old: [Costs 1] → New: [Costs 2]
Dev Comment: Renew is going to 2 mana. Heading into this patch, we wanted to knock some of Priest's generation potential as one of our main goals in Hearthstone is to have the cards you chose to include in your deck matter. We decided to change Renew specifically because we believe this change makes the largest impact towards curbing the chains of generation in Priest. At 2 mana, Renew has to be more thoughtful inclusion during deckbuilding, won't be generated by Wandmaker, and takes another mana reduction to get to 0. While Priest's identity looks different in future expansions, we wanted to take this opportunity to reign in their card generation and build a better match experience for both players.
Gibberling
- Old: [Costs 1] → New: [Costs 2]
Dev Comment: Gibberling is moving to 2 mana. Currently Gibberling is the cause of many "non-games", matches that are heavily lopsided in the early game and can have their outcome decided far too early. We want to lower the frequency of this occurrence and Gibberling at 2 mana should result in many more games where opponents can respond to an early board of this little menace.
The cards listed above will be eligible for a full dust refund for 2 weeks after the 20.8.2 patch goes live.
Game Improvements & Bug Fixes
- Updated the wording of Kurtrus Ashfallen’s fully upgraded Battlegrounds Hero Power to clarify its one-time completion (no functional change).
- Updated Archdruid Hamuul in Battlegrounds so that when your minion types are tied, he will not refresh Bob’s Tavern with minion types that are not in the pool.
- Adjusted Darkmoon Prizes to offer better Prizes for players on the bottom half of the leaderboard.

I just lost to a Mage only because he got a random Prime that copied itself randomly and gave him another 3 random Primes. That dude was a terrible player, I was winning on board, in fatigue, and the Prime won the wrong player the game.
Next, I lost to a Paladin because his 1 mana Yogg countered my Coerce and and Brawl.
But Renew was the problem. Healing the own face was the problem.

No full dust refund available today. Was there a couple days ago, but I didn't get around to it. Supposed to be there for two weeks from patch date right? Any word from Blizzard on this? (Update: I closed out of everything incl. Battlenet and restarted, and it came back; not sure what was going on, but its back.)

This really puts into perspective how truly clueless Blizzard is. Priest is pigeonholed into being control and to heal and outlast is really their only game plan. So to nerf that ability and then not compensate the cards cost or ability just shows ignorance. They don't care about Hearthstone the same way they don't give a crap about WoW and its only a matter of time before this game crashes and burns just the same.

Priest has been a plague since new rotation, and am surprised it is NOW getting hit... like... 3 months too late... You also hit the wrong cards..........................

Easy. Palm Reading is INSANE! That card alone has cemented priests deck archetype by focusing on including spells. Tack on spell generation, and reduce 4+ cards in hand by 1. THIS card alone is the sole reason priest would even consider any discover archetype
Another easy one, Soul Mirror. Looking at priests cards, removal is a huge problem.... well... not if Soul Mirror exists. Even though this is a legendary spell, and you can only include 1, it adds tools to priest that make no sense. This cards value is outright insane, copying deathrattles, frenzies, that were not even a part of your deck to begin with. Not only that, but this card oddly is easily discoverable, because priest has an insane toolkit to generate an insane amount of spells. This card is an auto include in EVERY priest, and greatly helps out all priests archetypes.
Renew is not the bread and butter of priest spell generation, and all priest players know this. Renew, in my opinion, is the weakest discover spell for priest in there tier 3 decks....

great nerfs! I don’t even play anymore, but watch a lot of streamers, and whenever some dipshit priest queues up its just painful and unfun to watch. Hopefully this will push people away from the class and play something other than discoverstone and healstone.
Agree. Class with very bad design, they should had watched magic the gathering before doing their archetype decks. Also, Ben Brode was very bad in design priest since beginning. Was a great developer, but not for priest warlock and shaman.
no, the worst design is druid, you have 3-4 mana the druid already has 10, full board of minions and full hand and already spamming "well played"
