Balance Changes Coming Next Thursday July 15th
Blizzard is planning some balance changes for next week, specifically to Priest and Druid. We should learn about these changes next Wednesday with some patch notes and should see them go live the next day.

In wild it was a buff, not nerf.
Having it cheaper allows for easier mana cheat.

You IMO guess right, being the favourite deck of Ayala, this crap will haunt us forever.
I guess we won't get rid of secret mages in wild forever.

Hey Blizz, what did control decks do to you?
You know, if control is a problem you could simply print a good combo deck.
Then you'd have people complaining about combo decks ruining control decks and complaints like:
"Blizz how could you ruin the meta with brainless combo decks!?!? They do nothing the entire match and then instantly kill you!!! I want my money back >:/"
Or if they print strong aggro tools then:
"Goddamnit Blizzard we haven't had a good control meta since the Death Knights and now I can't play them because of stupid aggro and zoo decks killing me too quickly!!! This is worse than Pirate Warrior!"
I think it's just better to let them rebalance the current set of cards instead of printing new cards to counter old ones.
Nerfing discovery won't create another win condition. If there was another/better way to win, priests would already be playing it.
The only reason this change is happening is due to all the players complaining about it. People aren't losing to priests, they just hate the discovery mechanic and want it nerfed.
I was curious and looked into the spread of Discover across all classes and neutrals since people always complain about it and here's the distribution:
ALL Discover cards were counted, including those that directly summoned minions, tutor effects and those affecting hero powers. Cards with multiple instances (such as Tracking) were not counted. Tri-class cards were counted in each instance too.
Now when people complain about Discover generation in Priest, you can point them to the fact that Mage and Hunter have more Discover cards than Priest.

You must take into account how much the cards are used and how reliant the classes are on discover to win. Taking into account Sethekk Veilweaver counting just discovery cards won't be enough and we need to figure out how to compare continued card generation potential to singel card generation?

I just hate Discover because of the game flow pause and ugly unceremonious way the cards just pop up and are selected.

Some quick points I see in here
Priest is not and never has been the only control deck, tempo is just overshadowing most control decks right now.
Priest is doing well right now but even if they weren't the nerf is to address the fact that they win by discovering cards instead of actually building a deck with a win condition. This problem is more about Hearthstone as a whole and the abundance of 'created by' cards but Priest is the worst offender by a mile.
The druid nerf is also not because druid is OP or doing too well, it's because getting glowfly swarmed on turn 4 or 5 and losing off of that one card feels really bad. Unless you are able to clear it right away a pride's fury or arbor up locks most decks out of the game. Unless of course you're playing priest and discover enough healing and aoe to deal with it
I hope Blizzard will fix all this by buffing other cards in these classes to give them a more fun and balanced way to win games but most likely they won't. I understand people's frustration but most of the comments on this thread are just objectively inaccurate.
The problem with this post is... who tf do you think creates priest cards? Do you think priest players want this shitty archetype to win games? No but we are forced into playing it because it's the only viable gameplan Blizzard gives us lmao.
Renew is guaranteed to take a hit, other two could be combination of any of these: Palm Reading, Raise Dead, Venomous Scorpid.

Yeh, the devs and community seem to want to die by turn 4 every game instead of having a fun turn 10+ game. So ridiculous that priest catch a nerf again. Renew was nerfed when discover was changed so you couldn't discover the same spell.. now will get nerfed again most likely.. priest already struggles to stay alive in early game, drastically healing itself to survive until they can unleash.. now we just will die.
If they want to nerf aspects of priest, they NEED to buff other aspects.. give better minions, give better defence... this will be horrible if nothing gets buffed along with the nerf.

But hey, the game only took 3,2 Min so you can loose 3 times in a row instead of playing one single 10 Min Match vs priest

Nerfing Priest in the current state the game is just a „fuck you“ message to control players from Blizzard.
