Patch Notes 20.2 - New Heroes in BG - Diamond Ragnaros and New Hero Skins & More
Last week's announced Patchnotes are finally here. They feature Battlegrounds heroes, a Diamond Ragnaros for Classic and new Hero skins for Reward Track progression!
Patch is LIVE!
Blizzard is aware of an issue with the Tavern Regular Reward where you are supposed to be able to claim a new Hero Portrait. A fix is coming, as per the tweet listed below!
About Tavern Regular Achievement:
These are quite difficult to get, definitely prestige items. Every 200 total levels on reward tracks gets you a a choice from that pool of hero skins. (Accumulates across reward tracks, and does count retroactive progress on Darkmoon and Barrens reward tracks.)

UPDATE:
We're aware of the Tavern Regular achievement starting out already claimed for people with >200 levels already. Working on a fix!

Quote from BlizzardThe 20.2 patch, which will release on May 4, includes a major update for Battlegrounds, purchasable decks, and more!
Battlegrounds Updates
Quilboar have been added as a new Battlegrounds minion type! There will still be five minion types per Battlegrounds game once Quilboar are added, meaning that three minion types will be excluded from each game. Just like when Dragons, Pirates, and Elementals were added, Quilboar will show up in every Battlegrounds match until our next major content patch.
The Quilboar update includes 17 new minions, 3 new heroes, and a new mechanic: Blood Gems! Blood Gems are spells that give a friendly minion +1/+1. Some Quilboar give you Blood Gems, while others have special interactions when Blood Gems are played.
We’ve also added Battlegrounds support for your favorite Coin! As a reminder, you can set a Coin as your favorite by clicking on the Coin icon in the top right of your Collection.
Finally, prepare for a fresh playing field as all players’ Battlegrounds ratings will be reset to 0 when the 20.2 patch launches on May 4!

i dont see the mage nerf
They're announcing nerfs next week.
I kinda like this update. There are a view minions which are hard to buff, like Zapp, Soul Juggler, Baron, Bran and so one. Now with this update this looks a lot easier.
You definately dont play BG often... I see goldrin bilde once per 20+ game, goldgrubber is too slow , ysharaj as well. Its either dragons with divine shields, taunts, elementals or managerie, other strategies are way worse...
Still no fix for the Book of Mercenaries achievement bug :(
Humble blessings for sure needed a nerf. Im not sure this is enough. Maybe.
It will slow the deck down a turn, but not sure that will change the outcome of too many matches.
Im still planning on taking it.
after seeing Nightmare Amalgam and other "all" tribe cards, I thought they were limiting the tribes of minions; based on both the text and especially the art.
Now I wonder if a card like Circus Amalgam would count as a Quillboar and would N'Zoth, God of the Deep start ressurecting Quillboars too.
That should be the case, but im testing it for sure after the patch comes.
Why would they not work that way?
Nightmare Amalgam needs to have its text box updated to one that Circus Amalgam has
Other than that, Quillboar type have no reason to not work with any card that mentions "each", "any" or "all" type(s).
i dont know, bugs, or blizzard just coding half of the synergys, it wouldnt be the first time.
This actually opens up sooo much design space. Even the simplest sounding effects like "Choose two enemy minions and destroy them" are now possible.
Nice, diamond Rag :D
Correct me if I'm wrong, but is this version of Vol'jin the first time in Hearthstone history that they implemented something that lets you choose 2 different targets with 1 effect? Because from what I can remember, it's always been pick one thing or random targets. I would like to the more stuff where you can pick more than one target in constructed. It could be an interesting thing to give certain effects.
Yes, this is the first time. I literally commented on a custom card yesterday that multiple targeting is not a Hearthstone thing.
My thought exactly. And I hope we'll see cards in the future that let you choose 2 or more targets. It might still be random at times for balance concerns, but cards like Cleave or Twin Tyrant would feel better without the random element.
I'm guessing they are using BGs to test this in action in a live patch and we're going to see constructed cards utilising this either in the summer or winter expansion
BGs is a complete mess right now. There's 4 main conditions to win since balance is broken
1)High roll by getting Goldrinn early and use parrots to constantly give your minions 5/5, multiple times.
2)Get extremely good taunt synergy
3)Build up a huge Goldgrubber or Champion of Y'sha early
4)If no one does the above, then whoever gets the best elementals wins.
Elementals are the most broken family in the game mode. It has just about everything; cleave, divine shield, windfury, infinite buffing, early game taunt. Cracking Cyclone is one of the most broken cards in the game mode. Just about everyone goes for these since it gets off 2 attacks at a minimum. Molten rock is completely busted. It's very easy to get since it's only tier 2 and it's extremely easy to get it buffed up to a level where half the players can't deal with breaking through it by turns 6-8. Not to mention that Majordomo is one of the huge buff cards for this family and it's easily gotten in tier 4. There have been times where I didn't leave tier 4 because I had everything I had in it.
We'll have to see if quillboars are any good, but I feel like quillboar will be good mid-game, but fall off HARD late game where elementals are starting to stack up to be unkillable.
Vol'jin is going to be interesting. Get some good scaling units and then swap with divine shields & cleave.
Hmm maybe more annoying than interesting.
Quillboars look pretty bad. Seems to be pirates all over again - way too many of them have synergy actions ONLY with other quillboars, making them useless in a menagerie setting and forcing you to invest in other quillboar units to get utility from them. They did add some good units at tiers 5 and 6 that can be used in other builds at least.
Exactly two of them have battlecries, limiting their utility with Brann. Exactly one of them has a deathrattle, limiting their utility with Baron. End game builds look bleak.
And none of them have any interesting combat mechanics. No cleave, nothing that manipulates attack order, redirects attacks, or anything. That is just so insanely boring.
