Blizzard Responds: Kargal Battlescar Dust Refund Soon
Blizzard responded tonight after some in the community had complained about the fact that Kargal Battlescar, the Watch Post Legendary, was not made eligible for a dust refund with the Patch. This is now being fixed!
🛠️ In a hotfix later this week, Kargal Battlescar will become eligible for a full dust refund for 2 weeks. In the days following the hotfix, compensation will go out for players who dusted Kargal after the 20.0.2 patch notes were published. pic.twitter.com/dPVDjVvJsQ

I don't get how nerfing the Watch Post's legitimizes giving a full dust refund for this card. The Watch Post's are just something you play to get more of the 5/5's he summons. The amount of health they have doesn't matter for Kargal. In fact, if they die easier, you'd have more space for the 5/5's he summons. Nerfing Watch Post's doesn't do anything to Kargal. Kargal just summons based on how many Watch Post's you summoned. I just don't get it. How does -1 health on Watch Post's make this card worse? It literally doesn't make sense to me.
The beauty of it is, you don't have to understand it. Just enjoy your dust!
The issue is, two key cards from the Watch Post "deck" have been nerfed essentially nerfing the archetype as a whole. If it was just one card and especially not a key card they probably wouldn't have touched Kargal. For the deck to do better, especially in ladder, you want those cards to be stronger. Watch post certainly isn't dead so I don't see the need to dust the cards however it is nothing but a positive so no complaining.
Worse watchposts means he's a worse minion because he needs the watchposts to be valid for him to be valid.
Lets say the watch posts were all 4 mana 0/1 with no effects. Nobody would play Kargal because that means you have to slot in 4 mana 0/1s into your deck to make him work. Now lets say all watchposts are now 3 mana 5/5s. Now Kargal would get a TON of play, because 3 mana 5/5s are easy to summon, good tempo, AND help him get a massive payoff.
Essentially, Kargal is only worth playing if watchposts are worth playing, and how good he is is based around how good the watch posts are.
It's free dust dude, there's no need to legitimize anything, the company is giving it to the players for once, no one is being hurt by it, I don't understand all the fuss around the matter.
Have two (now useless) crossroad watch posts. They should refund this too, if they destroy a complete deck style.
Really? Get over it.
70% of the cards in your collection are useless. Do you want a full refund every time you get a useless epic card?
Every watch post and Kargal get a dust refund and crossroad not, cause it is just a random epic? I have > 100k dust, so I don't care about the dust refund. However, it would be consequent and that's the point.
Crossroad Watch Posts is a much more stand alone card than Kargal.
Nice. And also a good lesson for everyone that attacked the people that campaigned for this dust refund.
Dude Im cashing out when the patch hits. But it this feel like Baku and Genn all over again, where hearthstone is qiuting on an archetype this time just 2 weeks into the expension. There could have waited and added a new card to the mini set and buff the archetype or sipily buff the card . but this feels right for the commuinty and I am on board with it
Genn and Baku lasted without changes for an entire year and so radically distorted the available design space that they got rid of them entirely a year later, not two weeks. Many other cards were changed BECAUSE of Genn and Baku and they ended up buffing a bunch of cards in a subsequent expansion (Rumble) because they had been so overshadowed by Genn and Baku and that effect would have continued into the following year. This change to the watch posts isn't anything like that, but I'm betting that they were nerfed to prevent the meta from becoming watch post-dominated in the same fashion.
So if I craft him now, just to try him out...then I can dust him later for a full refund or naw?
Yeah, sure! It's a great idea for everyone who doesn't own him.
This is a very good indication that Blizzard is taking feedback from its users and acting on it. Amazing step forward, keep it going Blizzard!
Thanks for this !
Got it golden, will disenchant for 3200 dust, feels great.
Ikr xD 🥳🎉🥂
Aaaaand it's gone ! :D
I'm so confused by this move... So they nerfed the health by 1 on each of the watch post cards which causes them to die easier, and people want a refund on the minion that summons 5/5s based on how many watch posts you've summoned to the battlecry point...? If anything it makes it a bit easier to play him as it's more likely there will be room on your board for the bigger tokens...
If the Watch Posts are worse, Kargal itself is worse, since his inclusion in a deck depends on the viability of Watch Posts. Any nerf to Watch Posts hit Kargal directly.
