I get that, I generally like the rush mechanic way more than charge. However I don't think that solves the isue. At the end of the day I think the quest i just a massive designing mistake. Even now it is not broken or ridiculously OP. It just makes for very uninteresting and often quite uninteractive games.
I'm totally fine with pretty much any nerf, even massive overreaction nerfs, to Jandice Barov, Pen Flinger, and Animated Broomstick. They're great cards, they were great for a year, it's OK to move on early. It's not quite as dull as Baku/Genn, but they had a good run, and folks had a lot of fun with them over. If they die now, they've lived full lives and I'll celebrate the fun we had along the way.
For Deck of Lunacy... I kind of like an oddball Kibler suggestion: it shouldn't be spells that cost +3 more. It should be spells that cost between 1 and 4 more. That added inconsistency would probably go a lot further than simply increasing the mana cost of the Deck. Meanwhile, Refreshing Spring Water being a 0-mana Draw 2 is absurd and needs to change.
Watch Posts have proven to be good enough that they don't need extra-premium stats to balance out their "can't attack" since an opponent often has to trade into or remove them anyhow. Going to 2-mana 2/3 or 3-mana 3/4 seems totally reasonable.
I think the Posts are fine on their own right now. the 2 drop post is helpfull in agro boosting decks. but should become fine once u can play more mid tier decks i think the value of these things drop since u mostl ikely be able to remove it instantly. and there are otherways to make sure to be able to deal with these. like for example print cards in the mini set that can remove these kind of cards for classes that lack board removal right now
Do you realize that pen flinger like that is just a 2x bad elven archer?
The problem with the card is it’s cost. You can play it so easily and fit many every turn. If they increase the mana to 2 (and also the damage to 2)... Sure, it’ll do more damage, but it will be harder to fit EVERY TURN, shortening his long-term value (which is the most problematic thing for me, every pen flinger equals to a Pyroblast with a class like Paladin for example)

Or you know, playtest your new cards before you even release an expansion and don't release broken cards at all.
Ideas for nerfs:
1. Pen Flinger should just read "return this minion to your hand without Spellburst". I feel like that would be fair, as the card wouldn't be totally murdered, but at least limited. (And please change the voiceline... I feel like I'm about to go crazy)
2. Deck of Lunacy 2 -> 4 mana cost
3. Swinetusk Shank 3 -> 4 mana. I feel like with all the hate Mage is receiving, people somehow forget about weapong rogue. Maybe I am weird, but I don't like dying on turn 5.
4. Far Watch Post 2/4 -> 2/3 and Mor'shan Watch Post 3/5 -> 3/4. I believe the Watchposts themselves are pretty balanced, but I think their power is a bit too high in comparison to Kargal Battlescar. I don't think blizzard would ever do something like this, but I think the nerfs to watchposts should be followed by Kargal Battlescar's change to make him a good payoff. I personally would move him to 9/10 mana and give the minions he summons Rush.
Other potential but much less likely changes I think would be fair:
5. Avenge +3/+2 -> +2/+2
6. First Day of School 0 -> 1 mana
7. Mask of C'Thun 7 -> 8 mana
8. Crossroads Gossiper 4/3 -> 3/3
I kinda like that First Day of School is a 0-mana spell. Wild is mostly irrelevant, but having it fit into Even decks is kinda cool, and gives them a lot more options.
I'd prefer a total rework where you got 1 minion normally, but 1 minions if you met some condition (no minions on board? at least 2 minions on board? at least 5 mana crystals?). Probably too much work, tho.
Meanwhile, I'd guess it's more the secret aspects of Paladin that are causing the problems with the deck.
I agree. First Day of School is oddly well-balanced, but the tempo it gives Paladins in early game is quite absurd. They should either introduce a consistent way to counter it for other classes or just rework it. I thought about messing with the cost of minions you get, so like "1 and 0 mana" would perhaps even be a buff and I am not sure if "1 and 2 mana" would change anything. It is a very difficult matter, because First Day of School is actually an overperforming, but well-balanced card.
Secrets on the other hand are also a pretty controversial matter. Most of them are by no means strong enough to deserve a nerf. The two standout ones are Avenge and Oh My Yogg!. The former I believe deserves at least a temporary small adjustment. Oh My Yogg! on the other hand is in most situations a 1 mana Counterspell. My suggestion is that they should mess around with the spells' cost. Maybe limit it only to spells that cost 4/3 or less. Just so it doesn't make Warriors and Priests suffer as much as they do now.
Watch posts needs nerf to health at least... I think we all miss playing with minions. This has deleted decks with board presence like zoo or anything warrior related that works. Changing these alone will make the meta more diverse.

Lunacy 3 mana - transform spells to ones that cost 1/2 more.
pen flinger should either be 2 mana - targets are random or mana cost increases by 1 if you play it in the same turn.
Won't happen but what would people think if Deck of Lunacy was changed to a 1 Mana Ranked Spell. Rank 1 - Transforming spells into +1, 2 +2 and 3 +3 as it does now?
I think it would be completely unplayable then. I think it's more likely to just go up in cost. Probably 3 Mana. Or 4 Mana if they want to kill it completely.
Deck of Luncacy needs to become a 5 cost card or a 4 that gives+2 or keep it as it is but make so it's only mage spells , getting a Kodo card and playing it with 3 cost x 3-4 of them is just absurd , to the point that it doesn't matter what you play , you can only counter this deck by playing the same and have better rng to win , it's stupid.
So far Tçthis is the suggestion i like the most, reduces the power of the deck,, without killing it and also gives the card more depth since you would have to decide which ranks is better for that particular matchup
just make lunacy 6 mana, keeps te ultimate meme alive if u topdeck after turn 6 but also kills that turn and dead card in the first turns
